He actually was running the whole time in his clay birds and took a cheap shot at the village while gaara was usuing his jutsu to protect the village . And during the time deidara found a weak spot in his sand to send bombs inside . He got his arm torn off and wanted no smoke the whole time. Just stop 😂
He's very mouthy and stubborn, but he uses it as an asset. Against either Beast, Cyclops or Wolverine (X-Men), he'd have a pretty good fight. For sure, he'd probably win in a fight against Azula, because he's a bit more levelheaded and has more confidence, and is very adaptable. But she'd put up a fight as well.

Honest to god, I think he was one of the best characters in the series. Apart from the fact that I personally like him, I always had a feeling that he was one of kishimotos favourites too judging by the way he utilized him and integrated him into the story. While characters like hidan, kakuzu or to some extend sasori weren‘t really that fleshed out and we never even got to see the full extend of their power, he really showed us ALOT of what Deidara was capable off even outside of his „big fight“. He also got a ton of fun and interesting interaction with other characters that weren‘t immediately plot relevant but gave us a good look into his personality, inner life, and motivations in a way that made it believable that he was part of the shinobi world even when he wasn‘t on screen. Like, considering the fact that he wasn‘t by any means a main character, he had a lot of different relationships to a bunch of characters that we got to see. (He even holds a long lasting grudge against naruto after that one time he got punched in the face by him) Just incredibly charismatic characters and considerably well fleshed out for the limited screentime he got. He‘s also fu**ing funny bc he was a 15 year old terrorist and he hates sasuke
