Powerplay to 1M! Great analysis. Thanks. Nepo's prep and clock management has been the difference so far. I hope, just for the sake if more chess, Ding has a few new ideas he's been cooking up. I remember reading somwhere that Tal would unleash a decoy opening prep idea to surprise his opponent saving his real new idea for another game, but Tal was kinda crazy and the days you could risk that are long gone.
Ding Liren's high general playing strength is a sort of preparation against being caught off guard at the start of game after game, but the problem is that Ian Nepomniachtchi also has a high general playing strength.
What about Bc1 at 8:50 for white? Doesn't that retreat maintain tension in the position for both sides? I think it favours black a bit but it still looks like it gives white chances too
This is a bit of a pedantic point since the analysis quickly transposes, but the move order in the video deviates slightly from the game. 11. Be2 was played, rather than Bf4 presented here.
That's really curious. I copied the pgn of the whole game onto an earlier version of some my analysis, and that's when the mix up must have occurred - but it shouldn't have done! As you say, there is a straight transposition and it doesn't change much but still very annoying. Sorry about that.

Might have to beat him as black Liren. That's if he dares play anything enterprising as white in the remaining games. Doesn't look like the English is going to work as white. And playing e4 or d4 you know probably walks in to libraries full of prep. Tough road home Ding. Still, stay alert and let's hope for at least one more good fight. It's not like we "deserve" it, they've given us quite the show. It does seem like there should be at least one more good skirmish left. The finale. Either Ian wins a nice game to clinch it, or Ding creates chaos with an even match. Crunch time!
Ding played a predictable opening and didn't prepare for Nepo's likely response. They had all day Saturday for rest and to prepare for two games. If they'd checked the database, they'd have seen that Nepo has played that Bc5 line. I thought Ding might have switched to a Reti. A surprise opening is a good idea, I think, with quite a few provisos. Obviously, it has to be a surprise. He'd need to be fairly sure what line Nepo would select as there wouldn't be time to prepare everything. Also, of course, you'd have to comfortable with the line yourself, and it's more or less a "one trick wonder", so you hope it pays off.
The Lichess leak and the opening surprice Bc5: Ding's team does not impress. And that h3 novelty? A facepalm move. These are reactions from many experts. Sad, because Ding is such a nice guy, but suffered from China's extreme covid isolation.

Really enjoying these game summaries of yours Daniel ! Just subbed.
Found this channel in the 2014 WCC and have been here ever since. The best chess analysis on YT! Thanks for the high quality content
Powerplay to 1M!

The best analysis channel of the 2023 WC.
Thank you, Daniel!
Ding's poor level of prep for the world championship is the elephant in the room. Diplomatically addressed by GM King
Powerplay to 100k!!!
It will be well earned.
Thanks mr King, great analysis as always!
Thorough analysis, smooth delivery. The human touch!
Great coverage thanks again
Great analysis as always
Is this the Four Knights (Deceased) Opening?
The most accurately played game so far. Not many games to go. Thanks Daniel.

Daniil best for live commentary, Daniel best for recap
What a cool position at 12 min mark
100k soon!!
How hard is it for gm to play safely for draw?

3:10 I remember that position from Hans Niemann vs Mamedyarov, that's where all the suspicions of him cheating started
There is wrong move order, first came bishop e2 and then bishop f4

@@PowerPlayChess no problem, I was just confused :)
What if after Nepo played b6, Ding played b3? What would be the result?
Thought Ding’s opening prep in the Candidates was a little weak and cost him. Same here.

Have you ever used an evaluation bar in your videos?

Ding's team has to have something spicy to counter Nepo's aggressive style. Having Rapport in a team may help actually, will see.
