    While driving my wife told me she likes your videos because the travel/scenery, throw in some food critique & your golden.;-)

    • @barebonesmc
      @barebonesmc  4 месяца назад

      bless her 🙂 give her my best wishes. the food critiques would be a bit skewed for most people lol, and to be honest, when on tour we do seem to cook ourselves a lot as we usually stay in very out of the way places, for example, here, the closest town to us was about 12 miles away, and the next stop on in North Portugal, the nearest supermarket was over 45 minutes away. the village had a small cafe/bar/shop that was the hub of the village, coffee cakes and beer was about all they served in the cafe, having said that, it was probably my favourite stop of the whole tour. the vistas crossing the north border into Portugal were spectacular too, although there was also the sadness of the miles and miles of devastation from forest fires. we do try to show the places people rarely get to. another village we stayed in near the end f the tour was literally at the end of the road near the headwaters of the river Ebro and the whole village was almost empty of people, i think we saw 4 people during the whole stay 🙂 it isnt even listed on google maps 🙂 so there is plenty to come, we will be heading off again in June too so there will be more 🙂

      @@barebonesmc We like to see what people cook up for themselves that makes you say to yourself why didn't i think of that. Living on the coast surrounded by the Pacific ocean, dunes, mountains, rivers, lakes, RAIN, all within minutes🙂 We have had celebrity chefs do shows here because everything grows wild. Mushrooms, hunting, fishing etc. Every type of riding is here to enjoy, sand dunes, mountain back roads, twisties, whatever you want. CTGs Duc wouldn't be used much here. I love that you are putting in big miles on a older V-Strom..simplicity rules on big tours & the latest and greatest over-complex electronic-Gizmo-laden machines , fill me with dread for a long haul. I know a lad who's last 2 continental bike tours were brought to a halt by an extremely temperamental ( still under warranty) Ducati Multistrada..long live the Strom..the Swiss-army-knife of the Bike world! We've all filled our boots with water in the spirit of non-flapping ankles, and cleaner-look 😂🤣. Great video!

      this is me finally getting around to editing the trip from 2 years ago, so we might have been there around the same time, weather turned HOT after this lol, we headed into North Portugal next and then down the Spanish border into Extramadura and the west. where did you end up going?

      @@barebonesmc We ended up in Santiago de Compostela. My partners son was working there. He, also being a biker, took us to some of his favorite haunts, and favorite roads, great fun. Like you though, the weather wasn't brilliant and I saw 6° on the bike's dash one time🥶. It was at a time when we still needed a Neg covid test to cross border. We decided to cross north of Pamplona. Beautiful sweeping road, good tarmac, no traffic. We stopped for fuel to ask where the border was, fearful of being pulled for not having a neg covid test. "Its, there, the stone bridge" said the guy on the fuel pump. Empty! Haha, happy days.

      @@garytong3395 I do want to explore that North West corner more.v We went over the Portugal border above Braganca, the border was empty deserted forest, much of which was still charred from the fires, but again there, the roads had to have been designed by a biker i think 🙂

    Welcome to Asturias!!! I call the place 'Wales with a hot sun' We have lived here for 5 years and live up a mountain road in a place called El Corralon. It's part of the town of Langreo! If you are coming this way let me know. Enjoy Asturias, it does rain, but that is why is why it's so lush!!

We stayed near Carancos. there was another guy who lived nearby commented on the original videos too (unless that was you?) so seems there are a few of the 2 wheeled crew up there :-)

    The Picos and are beautiful and Asturias Somiedo Nation park well worth a visit, they have bears its that wild, its fantastic. The Viaducts in Northern Spain are bloody windy though so I try to stay in land and prefer the ferry to riding through France. Happy touring!

      it is a glorious place, re France, that was partly because i have friends in the Vosges, but i have to say, the roads around Clermont Ferrand in central Fance are the most glorious fast roads. what a circuit that must have been when they did real roadracing there. that, and im not a fan of the Santander ferry lol

In california i took my 1st mc license in a major wind, rain storm because we had to make an appointment to test. I aced it on my 87 Xl600, my friend on his Zx10 failed bad but passed because i held her umbrella (parasol) distracting her. drenched we walked in & she said if you guys ride in this you passed. nearly 40 years later i'm still valid, alive & not done. Looking for a XR650l, i don't do Crash Test Goat speed. 😎

      @@noodles2x4 i think some people try many things, and we are all different, but each to their own as they say. some people do undoubtedly try more to impress than others, but that is often the way throughout life, YT just maybe emphasises the extremes, so there are plenty of people who take it too far as far as i am concerned, I prioritise trying to finish the journey in one piece 🙂
