going to a big turbo setup, would you know what I have to do with the water lines and what I’d do about setting the external wastegate while it has a manual boost controller..? Getting all new internals and IE rods
I have a 87\99 cabby. When I bought it I found out. The turbo was out. The coolant feed line was ran to the coolant reservoir. The coolant return was kinked over with and ran with rubber fuel line. This is what burnt the turbo up. My question is where the heck do I get my coolant feed. I don't have the manual for the 99. Where is my best place to tie in the heater hose side or the water pump feed side.
well if you doing a custom line best feed for coolant will be the upper radiator hose which has the most pressure so coolant can move fast. if you want oil feed use the oil cooler and tap it from there but i suggest an oil cooler with a pressure feed for the turbo.
The oil feed and return are good they just hooked up the coolant feed wrong and I will tee into the upper coolant feed from the rad thanks for the info
Daniel Cadena good idea. i just need an adjustable cam gear.... your power gains are very minamal due to fuel octane. if you can go higher octane or E85 youll benifit from an adjutable cam gear. That being said if you can get higher octane fuel you wint need to ajust your timing because fueling is everything with it comes to octane and timing.
Hey bro, I have a VW GOLF MK4 2001 GTI and I need to take out my turbo because its stuffed. Is there any way to take out the turbo without taking the engine out?
Yes but its a lot harder. You will need to jack up the car put it on stands. Remove the axles so you have some room to take the turbo out. Also remove the dog bone motor mount so it gives you the extra wiggle room. Just unbolt everything except the exhaust manifold. You will also need a swivel extension to get the banjo bolts off the turbo. Just so you know its a lot faster to pull the motor and remove the turbo and also it will give you more room for less errors. Biggest issue youll have is the banjo bolt and getting the turbo properly torqued down. You'll end up with an oil or coolant leak almost 95% of the time.
@@PincheALsGarage thanks for your reply. Thing is, I don't think I've fiddled around with cars enough to know how to take an engine out and put it back together. Which is why I asked the question. I only know basics. Radiator, brakes, spark plugs, etc lol. Oh well. Fingers crossed lol
no i dont. all you need to do is remove the 3 boots on top of the manifold, remove the downpipe, water and oil lines. leave the manifold alone. should be able to wiggle it out from the bottom. my only concern will be getting the new one in. its a tight spot but very doable.
+PincheALs Garage I'm happy I just watched your video again because I thought the o rings in the turbo were done when I found a little oil in the metal flat pipe going to the stock intercooler, but none anywhere near the throttle body or on the other side of the stock intercooler. I bottomed out and crushed the FMIC, broke the original 337 front valence, crushed the rocker panel, cracked the front radiator support. I went into a giant hole, mega pothole, filled with water, I thought it was a puddle but it was a small lake, I was on a steep incline going out into a heavy traffic 4 lane state road. So they won't pay for the intercooler and damages and AutoZone won't either. I really thought my turbo was about to go, I had a GT1752s go on a Saab 9 5 and the mess was horrible, took longer to clean than install the new turbo, junkyard turbo gtfoh. Thank you
dangit man i live on the other side of the world from you lol im in atlanta and they frig with me every year if i cant pass they pull my tags and shut my but down lol
Thanks man putting a k04 on next week this was super helpful
What would cause coolant to get in the intake? How would it get threw the turbo or what other ways would coolant get into the intake?

how bout doing a session on adjustable timing gear & how much horse power you can get...

Excellent, well detailed video, good job.

Is it possible to remove the turbo without removing the engine ?
Matheus Beato which turbo are you going to install?
do you have any videos removing K03s and installing a new K04-001 transverse turbo while engine is still inside the car?
no i dont. all you need to do is remove the 3 boots on top of the manifold, remove the downpipe, water and oil lines. leave the manifold alone. should be able to wiggle it out from the bottom. my only concern will be getting the new one in. its a tight spot but very doable.

About to replace turbo studs in car taking off only the exhaust mani
Why isn't the volume working?
I really enjoy watching but it's kinda hard to understand without volume
how are you going to pass emissions test if you take combi valve off
freebird1ification I dont pass emissions test. I magicly pass.

Is allen bolt and hex bolt the same thing just a different name?
Two different shapes on the end mmaviator22
awww sorry youtube changed the audio on my video...I will fix it.
5:08 lol
Kevin glad to see your paying attention....lol
this video could be so much use to me if the sound worked
or remove the clamp to waste gate hose....smh
Lol!
