Lovely to see you pop up again! I think we’re all over the ‘hauls’ and ‘look at me’ videos that are prompting this endless cycle of new products and new releases. Simplifying and finding what works for you in your life is so much more important! Love seeing the way your journaling has evolved and might take some tips into my own waning journaling practice! 😂
Me three! I like to see how you tweak your system more than hauls because I juggle so much at once as well being a mom, wife, daughter, sister, homeowner, landlord, and full time employee. Excited to see anything and everything you share with us :)
I’m so glad you came back! Personally, I love that you aren’t planning on doing much purchasing. I’ve gotten “new things fatigue” from all the same stuff many are running out to get but not really connecting with. It stops being about the process and more about the spending at that point. Your personality and passion for what you actually have and use really comes through. It’s genuine and it’s totally relatable.
I am doing the same thing this year. I realized that I often purchased multiple planners--only to end up using one or two. Once you are clear on what works for you it brings a lot of peace. 😁💖
I have always been a two book girl, so I totally get it! Simple and satisfying!!!!! And, you get to the awesome feeling of having filled an entire book more often! 😂
Hi Sarah! I love to listen to you talking about your planners and journals! Old or new! I love how honest and funny you are (the hibino made me laugh so much!)! I get lots of ideas from you, I am sure we all do! So, we don't need the new things, we are here for you and everything you want to share with us! I am sure many of us are going through same and want to use more of what we already have... I personally want to not buy any books and if I feel like something is not working, or needs change, I have options already here just waiting their time to be used. So, I love this video! it came in a great time where maybe life changed and what we got on launches last year might not fit the new year... thanks for sharing with us😃
I really appreciate your thoughts, Cecilia! It baffles me how much of a challenge it is to use what I have. Like, I wanted that item SO badly when I bought it, what happened?? Haha
Hi Sarah! I’ve been saving up your videos because I love catching up with you and it’s such a treat! Your fabric cover turned out beautifully. Cheers for simplifying and making it work. I’m here for anything you feel inspired to share, and I appreciate the turn away from acquisitions and the focus on showing what you are using. But if I’m being honest, I just wanna hang out with you and hear what’s going on. 🤘🏼😸 You are awesome. Thanks for sharing! 🧡😸
You did a professional job on covering that weeks!! Good for you! Always awesome to see another person go and do things themselves, I also do leatherwork (tooling and assembling) as well as bookbinding and it’s so much fun! Great job!
It’s Weeks all the way for me, too. Any time I’m lured by the next shiny thing, I always come back to Weeks (usually ridiculously quickly). It just works. And my journal is very similar to yours, too. I use a Midori b6 slim and just slap whatever bits I have from purchases, events, even thank you cards from people, it all goes in and makes a wonderfully chunky archive. I absolutely love the fabric cover on your Weeks - beautifully done.
So lovely to hear your voice again! I hope you and your family are well. I am in a similar place as you with one memory, keeping journal, my five year journal, and very simplified bullet journal, and that’s it. I am so over the FOMO and how oppressive and stressful that trap was for me. While I understand that your new products gets more views, but I am really interested in how you use what you have and how you try something out you saw online instead of buying something new. I think it could be kind of cool for you to share something you saw and then how you recreated that. I know exactly who you were talking about when you made your monthly memory page. Anyways, I’m down for watching anything you share!!!!
That fabric is AWESOME and so is your covering job! I really appreciate your simplified system, Sarah. I think when it starts to feel like an obligation, it's not working for whatever new season of life that you're in. Wishing you all the BEST for 2023!
Thank you! Sometimes having the option of daily writing is better than the requirement of daily writing😅. I just don’t wanna be bossed around by my stuff right now, haha. All the best to you too!
I was just thinking about your videos and I’m glad you made one. I love watching all your videos, so I’m happy with whatever planner/journal idea you show us. I love Culver’s too he I’ve kept tissue paper like that from eating places and put in my journal.
I am in LOVE with the “curtain” cover on your weeks 😊 In 2022 I bought all the planners and man, I felt so bad that I didn’t use all but one. So, this year I decided I am only going to buy what I think I will use and the burden that has lifted off my shoulders has been eye opening! I am using a B6 and a weeks, that’s all I need and even then, the weeks I don’t touch but every month. It feels so great to need very little to be truly happy hahaha.
OK, first of all, you have a new subscriber here. I so enjoyed this video like no other. It is so validating to those that are struggling like me with all the shiny things in the planner community and your video just reassured me I don’t need everything, and that time is precious. We cannot waste time on 102 different planners when we can make more time and increase our Creativity with just two. I will still use multiple journals and notebooks and even planners but hearing you talk about this so honestly takes away the pressure and guilt. And the no spend- well thats just necessary and smart! Thank you for your inspiration.
Thank you for being here! Yes, the pull is strong to be in a lot of different systems. I still find myself daydreaming about a daily dated book for journaling but the daily pressure ultimately puts me off. Release the pressure! Haha
This is my system in a nutshell, but I love the idea of all the ephemera that evokes memories in your journal. Keep going! I’ve gotten a few good ideas from this video already. Thanks Sarah!!
Sarah, love your videos..so streamlined. I use my weeks similar to yours as well and I love it. Very useful tips! I to am trying to minimize and use what I have, be more intentional about purchases. Please keep the content coming. Would love to see snippets of bible journaling, too. :)
Great that you’re back!! Honestly I love (& reference quite often) your how to videos, when you make things or modify things to use in different ways! They’re honestly my favorites!!
Totally identify with your style an your logic on how u split your journal and weekly. I discovered this last year for me and i added the Art journal as a seasonal thing too to work in from time to time. so much more freeing
I’ve attempted an art journal so many times and I adore seeing everyone else’s but I’m just not creative in that way. I’m more of a crafter. But I still swoon over those art journals!
Wonderful to see you back! I love this video…so inspirational! Your ideas will be very useful to me. I too want to create with what I already have …truly focusing on the fun without the pressure of buying more stuff! Fabulous video! Thank you💜🌸💜
I'm with you - no spend and simplify, I bough the hibico, too and just did not like it - I found the hump from the chunk of it to be bothersome. Anyhow, I'm trying to downsize my planning supplies as well and it is frustrating and freeing at the same time :) So glad you posted this video - thank you!
It's so good to hear from you! Like others who have already commented, I enjoy chatty videos more than hauls so I think your videos will continue to be well-received even if you're not reviewing new things/systems.
No sweat about taking a break or getting your ducks in a row. I like that you have the courage to change things up. I do look at haul videos, but I love watching a few people with their weeks and cousins. I am glad you are doing well. Just think you have taken a stoic philosophically approach to your planning ‘is it essential?’ Is what Marcus Aurelius would ask himself about things. I find myself asking that all the time, and it is helping me finish. my thesis. I am down to my weeks and Thesis cousin. I am too busy to bother with all the rest, so the non-essential tracking went away. Oh google when the 2023 calendars can be used again, and I think if you want to use them, you can save them. Who knows what kind of paper hobonichi has than. Just do not know what the future holds
I think it’s so exciting that you’ve reworked everything and simplified and are feeling inspired. I too have seriously simplified this year. Gave up on the Hibino, and the 5-year and the hobonichi weeks! I’m not just in a Midori B6 slim, with grid paper and a single leather cover for it. I also minimalized my writing instruments and am now just using a single mechanical pencil. It feels so good to just journal and not think about what pen to use, what ink color, what journal, what cover, etc. I’ve gotten in the habit of adding two months at a glance in every new journal, which is now where I keep tracking all my scheduling. It’s been great. Anyway, hope you have a great time and good luck with whatever family changes will be taking place for you this year! I enjoy your videos in general, so even the ones that aren’t reviews I enjoy.
I scared my cat when I yelled "omg Sarah has a new video!" 😂 I been rewatching a lot of your older videos in the interim, so it was a happy shock to see you back in your corner of the internet! Its honestly one of my favourite places to spend time. Process and update videos are some of the most valuable to me, and I always appreciate your honesty when something is not working and why - its very validating to know that I ain't the only one that can't seem to get a tool to work for me, haha. With the craziness of this year, I went back to one of my first ever systems: a blank pocket Moleskine notebook that I just slap anything in, on any page just to get it out of my head and somewhere in reality. Then a reference Field Note and a memory keeping Field Note, all in the same TN. Absolutely nothing fancy when I don't have the time, and maaaaybe a strip of washi and a sticker or two when I do.
Haha, that’s too funny! And thank you for your kinds words. Speaking of Moleskine, I have an expanded Moleskine that I bought over a year ago that’s begging to be used!
Speaking to my heart right now Sarah! I love that you posted another video, I can just listen to you talk forever 😁 I am so over hauls and the constant feel of needing to keep up with what is new and/or on everyone's feed at the moment....Using what we got, making it work for us and evolving as we go along in our lives....do what works, do what makes you smile, do what feels good! By the way, your hobonichi weeks cover is so perfect!! I love how you made it yours! Thank you for sharing, please keep the videos coming 🥰
Thank you, Petra! I have SO many thoughts and feelings regarding over-buying, instant gratification, etc. I’m sure I’ll touch on them in future videos, haha.
I think it’s great that you’re sharing how you’ve downsized. I went nuts last year and over bought things. Thankfully I realized quicklyish 🤓 that I don’t like certain things(planner stickers or a6 size). I made an inventory of what I had amassed and I have diligently been working through everything. I use the stickers to mark workouts. I also started writing morning pages (to help clear my anxiety in the am) and that is helping burn through a lot of notebooks. I’m starting with sizes and paper I don’t like just to get through. RUclips can be about constantly consuming, but I’ve seen several folks trying something different from what they’ve been doing. Spellboundnotes (I think) is great. Anyways- it’s always great to see a video from you. Happy New Year.
That’s awesome you’re working through your stash-I’m right behind you🙌. I agree that spellbound notes and her series of using up her stuff has been inspiring!
So lovely to “catch up” with you, Sarah! 💛 It was fun to hear about what you’re using and your journal sounds so flexible and fun. I love the idea that you can try whatever catches your fancy in there - such a great way to balance out the fomo. I look forward to seeing you play with these systems this year - videos where people are using their existing planners and supplies are my favourite!
Always nice to see a new video posted by you, Sarah. Hoping you can tell me more about the map paper you pasted into the front of your bunny Weeks? I love the colors (and love maps)...I think it says Lonely Isles...but would love to find that map/paper. Thank you!
I love the curtain fabric that your used to cover it up. I usually buy the plastic over and make a printable cover. I switch out the printed cover every so often.
Sarah!! Honestly.....who cares what your videos are about! I am glad to hear that sweet voice again😊I should have followed your lead, this Hibino is killing me,lol. Absolutely NOT buying impulse planners next year! UGH. Welcome back.
Aw, thank you, Heather!♥️♥️ Yeah I’m so over all the hype, fomo, limited edition, etc of planner/journal products. I’ve been disappointed too many times!
Whyyyyyy oh whyyyyyy is that old curtain fabric and not something available to me right now. It is so very beautiful. 😍 and everything of yours too but especially that floral pattern. I won’t stop thinking about it for a while.
I got the bright green mega as well, and also re-covered mine in fabric because the green was as my daughter charmingly referred to it as "alien snot green", not the spring green or matcha green that I was expecting from the photos on their website. It is nice to see people using the things that they have.
So happy to see a new video, Sarah. You must have read my mind; I have experienced a terrible heart-breaking loss of my own in the last month and was hoping for a video of your soothing soft-spoken voice and teachable content would help bring me some sense of peace and joy. Thank you for sharing your ideas and all you do; so much appreciated always. Luv, Cynthia 🙏✍
Lovely to see you back Sarah . I hope whatever is going on in your life is not to earth shattering. Honesty post what you want and what makes you happy... I like the flips and the plan with me vids more than hauls. I have my own system and I am happy with what I am doing, I don't need to be persuaded. Stay well
Glad to see a new video! Will definitely watch whatever you come up with. Your weeks cover turned out lovely! Great inspiration on the journaling. I have so many blank notebooks of every size they make and I also have two drawer fulls of ephemera and bits and pieces have collected over the years. I keep saying I’m going to do what you’re doing but I overthink everything. Do I want to do it in a pocket size, B6 slim, Standard, wide, A5 or giant journals? Because the stuff I’ve been saving is all sizes from itty bitty all the way up to 8 1/2 x 11 or larger. I look at the larger pieces and think I can cut them up and use them in smaller journals. Basically I overthink everything, therefore the bits and pieces have filled up two drawers lol. And I also get hung up on the order of things. Well certainly now after several years I can’t possibly remember the order in which I received these bits and pieces and does it really matter? Anyone who’s going to be looking at this stuff after I’m gone isn’t gonna be that hung up on the dates or the order of things lol. You figured that out! 🙌🏼. Also here to say that I have been in five different planners this year and it’s only March. I think I’m sticking to the one I’m using currently but I could wake up tomorrow and change my mind. At least I’m using most of the ones I purchased. I’ve just decided that that’s just who I am so my planners are pretty inconsistent because I might use one for two months and then skip two months but I might be in another one during that time. It is what it is!
I’ve been there with the overthinking! At some point I felt like I was treating these things much more precious than they really are. And the stuff I was saving became boring over time! So I just get in there and use it all, haha
Ah, Sarah! It's so good to see a familiar face. You could make a video about anything and I would watch. I need to challenge myself to a no spend month.........but I do have to let you know that if you would like to sell your Hibino or the passport weeks, please let me know because I am needing something bigger to track my kiddos behavior and something small enough to carry to jot down appointment dates/times. Thank you so much for putting out a video. We really do miss you and when there is a period of time that you are gone, this community always hopes for the best for you and your family.
Just a quick note (not really quick - the note actually got rambly - so feel free to not read it all) to say thank you for the video and glad to see an update. I like the aesthetic of the "bunny" journal, it has a vintage type of look to it, but the curtain cover you made - turned out REALLY nice! It definitely has a vintage look to it; very beautiful finish. The Culver's cover also turned out nice; I really like the colors. Very nice use of the materials! I've been wanting to get into journaling and the very decorative type (actually, even the bullet type) feel daunting. All the decor feels daunting - I'm not sure where to begin with getting all the artsy supplies to start decorating - BUT I really enjoy seeing other people's journals (I mention because you mentioned you may stop making (as many) videos because you won't be purchasing much - yet, I'd still enjoy seeing your journal, and hearing you talk about what you're doing with your journal. Despite not know where to start with a journal, I'm still considering getting one for sketching. So, I don't necessarily need it to be a current date planner. - Thanks for sharing your process of journaling with the ephemera. It really helps give me an idea on how to get started with journaling. - Your Hibino - I'm interested in it; I got interested in it from your previous video on it. It might work for me for sketching. As I noted, I don't really need correct dates and such, as I will be drawing over the text and such. I'll re-watch to see why you didn't like the paper - since I think it would still work for me, and I like its chunky-ness. ok - end of ramble. I really hope you decide to make videos showing how you're using your journals, even if you don't buy new journals. - Take care and have a great weekend!
I appreciate all your thoughts! I hope you dive in with journaling and/or sketching. Part of the fun is discovering your own style and trying out new ideas♥️♥️
Happy to see a new video from you. I always get ideas from you. First, let me say the floral cover you created looks professional. It is lovely. I have gone to one book for planning and journaling. I bought a 320 page A5 journal from Amazon and put it in my Maverick cover. Simplicity. I have been journaling every day, but there isn’t always a lot to journal on some days. So, for March I’m going to try journaling on an “as needed” basis rather than by the date. Thanks for sharing. I wish you all the best in your upcoming changes. ❤
How great to hear from you and get a bit of an update! I hope your mid-year event turns out to be not as disruptive and you're expecting. I'm basically doing the same thing you are, though with different notebooks. My planner is a Hobonichi Day-Free a6, for the third year. And my journal is a blank a5 from Danica, as it happens - I'm not quite halfway through it after starting it in 2022 so we'll have to see if I can "finish" it my the end of this year.
Thank you, Barbara! Love how simple you’re keeping your lineup, too. At the rate I’m going I won’t have my Danika notebook finished till June sometime. It used to bother me to be in a notebook so long but my mindset shifted at some point!
@@sarahmartinezjournals I love the freedom of an undated or completely blank notebook, too. The monthly overview is plenty for me in a planner and I always check it before I decide what' I'm going to aim for on a given day. Plus I'm extremely unpredictable about how much room I need.
I love everything about this video. I'm currently trying to simplify and minimize my process. I want one planner and one journal as well. I love my weeks, but have been in personal size lately. I think about going back to my weeks often, but then I have all this guilt about the leathers I bought for my personal size. Anyway I'm over all the spending as well (I have spent way too much over the last year) and I'm in the same mode of use my stash before buying more. Fomo definitely plays a big part in this. I appreciate you sharing this with all of us. This is so helpful for my brain and anxiety. Thank you! 💙✨️
Would you ever sell some of the things that you haven't used? I would absolutely be down to redate a bunch of stuff and have done it before when I've purchased from others.
I am 100% having planner remorse re: my 2023 Hobonichi Cousin. I went back to work, so I was *sure* I would use/need/enjoy the extra space. Not so. I am ready to jump back into the Weeks, which I have used for the past 3 years. What was I thinking?
@@sarahmartinezjournals Yes! And I used my "good" stickers in the Failed Planner! 😂🤣😂🤣 I've transfered the important bits into the Weeks and now I'm wondering if you can remind me in September to ONLY buy a Weeks.... 😉
Hi Sarah! Do you have a link for that 24 hour sticker? It looks like it goes from 12 midnight to 11 pm as the last hour, and does it fit the weeks grid?
www.etsy.com/listing/712620432/24-hour-vertical-time-block-number?click_key=70a6fc9186d6b3b26ba07a122f04f1d4a3eaf511%3A712620432&click_sum=3cf2e825&ref=shop_home_recs_1&sts=1 It doesn’t fit in the weeks grid BUT you can message her and she will size it correctly for you.
Thank you! I really enjoyed the YT channel “How to Hand Letter” when I was starting out. It just takes consistency, literally just handletter everything you can all the time, haha
I was just thinking about you and your video popped up! Since you are downsizing is there any chance of you selling some of your beautiful Maverick covers? Would love a Sarah original passport or pocket!
Aw, thank you! Honestly selling stuff is like pulling teeth for me so probably not. But never say never-sometimes I can rope Robin into selling things for me😄
I thought about it but I think I have some ideas to use it later this year. I’m sorry you couldn’t get one though. This scarcity issue really boils my blood these days.

I’ve definitely been attracted to just the essentials! And good tip about finding out when 2023 calendars can be used again, thanks!
Thank you so much, Alicia♥️. Your pencil video had me putting Tennessee Reds on my wishlist! I’ve been craving uncomplicated.
I scared my cat when I yelled "omg Sarah has a new video!" 😂
I been rewatching a lot of your older videos in the interim, so it was a happy shock to see you back in your corner of the internet!
You did a great job recovering the Hobonichi weeks mega!
Thank you!
Speaking to my heart right now Sarah! I love that you posted another video, I can just listen to you talk forever 😁
I am so over hauls and the constant feel of needing to keep up with what is new and/or on everyone's feed at the moment....Using what we got, making it work for us and evolving as we go along in our lives....do what works, do what makes you smile, do what feels good!
I would sit here and listen to you talk about how you do your laundry. 😂 Such a lovely surprise to get to hear your voice today! ❤️
That’s too funny, Erin! Thank you♥️♥️
I think it’s great that you’re sharing how you’ve downsized.
Thanks Ellie! I was also really inspired by your thoughts about how the problem is our moods changing, not necessarily a problem with the planners.
That's a great way to personalise your Hobonichi Weeks - it looks wonderful! Great job
Thank you!!
Always nice to see a new video posted by you, Sarah. Hoping you can tell me more about the map paper you pasted into the front of your bunny Weeks? I love the colors (and love maps)...I think it says Lonely Isles...but would love to find that map/paper. Thank you!
The map was from Erin Ware on Patreon as part of her happy mail tier! Not sure if she provides it as a printable now (I’m not on Patreon anymore).
That’s a really fun and cool way to recap the month. So eye catching ! 🤩
Love seeing videos from you arrive. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.
I appreciate you, Heather!♥️
It’s great to hear your voice, tfs. I hope you and your family are doing well🙏🏽💜
Thank you! We’re doing well and I hope you are too♥️
I love the curtain fabric that your used to cover it up. I usually buy the plastic over and make a printable cover. I switch out the printed cover every so often.
I’m a fan of that idea, too! Especially as a non-permanent way to change the look.
Literally anything you post, I will very gladly watch Sarah!! Glad to see you're back for a bit! :)
Aw, thank you for that!
So glad to see you back! I love your videos!
Oh that’s funny 😄. I’m glad you were able to cover yours too!
Really like your outlook, it's only March and I have changed planners at least 4 times .... it's very draining.
I’ve been there before and I agree! I hope you’re able to feel settled with something soon.
So very sorry about your loss, Cynthia! Sending you so many hugs ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Lovely to see you back Sarah . I hope whatever is going on in your life is not to earth shattering. Honesty post what you want and what makes you happy... I like the flips and the plan with me vids more than hauls. I have my own system and I am happy with what I am doing, I don't need to be persuaded. Stay well
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I’ve thought about selling but I’m still playing with some ideas to use all those items (here’s hoping!)
Just a quick note (not really quick - the note actually got rambly - so feel free to not read it all) to say thank you for the video and glad to see an update.
I like the aesthetic of the "bunny" journal, it has a vintage type of look to it, but the curtain cover you made - turned out REALLY nice! It definitely has a vintage look to it;
very beautiful finish.
-
Thanks for sharing your process of journaling with the ephemera. It really helps give me an idea on how to get started with journaling.
-
Your Hibino - I'm interested in it; I got interested in it from your previous video on it.
-
Take care and have a great weekend!
I’ve entertained the idea of combining planning and journaling as well. Maybe one day. Glad it’s working out for you!
Culvers! Butter Burgers w/cheese FTW!
🙌🙌
I love everything about this video. I'm currently trying to simplify and minimize my process. I want one planner and one journal as well. I love my weeks, but have been in personal size lately. I think about going back to my weeks often, but then I have all this guilt about the leathers I bought for my personal size. Anyway I'm over all the spending as well (I have spent way too much over the last year) and I'm in the same mode of use my stash before buying more. Fomo definitely plays a big part in this. I appreciate you sharing this with all of us. This is so helpful for my brain and anxiety. Thank you! 💙✨️
Fomo is the worst! I think I’m so disgusted by this point that anytime I see a limited edition release I’m immediately repulsed. Best of luck!
My favorite videos are about weekly planning ( not decorating) and the budget videos (like Lisa Marie Budgets).
Less is more . A simple system is calming to me
Agreed!
wow! it turned out so so well!!
Thank you, Lola!
Would you ever sell some of the things that you haven't used? I would absolutely be down to redate a bunch of stuff and have done it before when I've purchased from others.
I have a Maverick Weeks - I may of bought it from you, but I am selling it and a B6
I am 100% having planner remorse re: my 2023 Hobonichi Cousin. I went back to work, so I was *sure* I would use/need/enjoy the extra space. Not so. I am ready to jump back into the Weeks, which I have used for the past 3 years. What was I thinking?
Been there!😅 It’s such a disappointment to be so sure something will work and witness it’s demise, haha
@@sarahmartinezjournals Yes! And I used my "good" stickers in the Failed Planner! 😂🤣😂🤣 I've transfered the important bits into the Weeks and now I'm wondering if you can remind me in September to ONLY buy a Weeks.... 😉
That cover looks great, I thought it looked professional.
I appreciate that!
I can’t quit the Weeks no matter how many other planners I try! I can’t quit Culver’s either!☺️
Haha, Culver’s is my kryptonite. It’s one of the few places I have no rules about and order everything😅
❤️Culvers❤️
Hi Sarah! Do you have a link for that 24 hour sticker? It looks like it goes from 12 midnight to 11 pm as the last hour, and does it fit the weeks grid?
www.etsy.com/listing/712620432/24-hour-vertical-time-block-number?click_key=70a6fc9186d6b3b26ba07a122f04f1d4a3eaf511%3A712620432&click_sum=3cf2e825&ref=shop_home_recs_1&sts=1
It doesn’t fit in the weeks grid BUT you can message her and she will size it correctly for you.
I love your lettering! How did you learn?
But never say never-sometimes I can rope Robin into selling things for me😄
what do you need AFOS for
They’re for a family member who used to be paralyzed♥️
Any chance you want to sell the hibino? Really wanted to try it but of course couldn’t get my hands on one.
I thought about it but I think I have some ideas to use it later this year. I’m sorry you couldn’t get one though. This scarcity issue really boils my blood these days.
Glad you have some ideas for it! Will be here for the video if you make one! Always love watching your videos. Take care!
