- This pie is super simple but so yummy! It's a sweet depression era treat found in Amish communities! AMISH TEARS ON YOUR PILLOW PIE
INGREDIENTS:
1⁄3 cup butter
1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1⁄2 cup evaporated milk
1 9" unbaked pie shell
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350º F.
In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, eggs, flour, and milk until well blended.
Pour the filling into the pie shell.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350ºF or until crust is light golden brown.
Turn off oven and leave the pie in the oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

This pie is different than anything I've ever seen - The thing I like the best is that it only bakes for15 minutes then the oven gets turned off. Looks delicious too.

About the time you said “it’s sweet” I was thinking it looked like candy. So so simple. If I didn’t have anything in the house to make a pie I bet I could still make this one. All ingredients I keep on hand. I’ll be trying this one for sure. Thank you for sharing such a unique recipe.

So buy a prepared Pillsbury crust! Mix this up, pour it in, and bake as directed. No fail!

This is a pie my grandmother made when I was a kid. She was "Pennsylvania Dutch". I have not had this in 50 years and had forgotten all about it. It is so yummy!
