Hi Ryan, just discovered your awesome channel. Thanks so much for making these videos, you're a really great teacher. Love how you've gone over so many of Pearl Jam's b-sides and rarities as well as the studio albums. Been binge-watching your videos since yesterday and I'm learning a lot. Loved your series on Chris Cornell's Preaching the End of the World, and your play-through of Can't Change Me was great! There're a few songs I'd love to see you break down for us: Why Go (from Ten), Strangest Tribe (Christmas Single), Out of My Mind (b-side of Not for You from Vitalogy), and most of all those amazing riffs and leads in Red Mosquito (from No Code). Keep up the amazing work, looking forward to the lead parts of Rival!
Hey Ryan! I was watching the pink pop performance from 2000 and saw they started the set that day with this song, love the stone rhythm of this song had to learn it! Thanks!
You're welcome Gareth :) You ought to know that a few days ago your comment was the last I responded to so I had your name in my head, and I jokingly named a large rubber duck Gareth, and the name has stuck.
Heading to Amsterdam this weekend for the Pearl Jam shows there next week, fingers crossed for a Binaural full play through. I also want a Riot Act full play through in Prague (wishful thinking). Thanks for another awesome video! Have a great weekend.
Contrary to the popular opinion, I think Binaural is great and is definitely in my top 3 PJ albums. New studio's looking great! Where's the Tex Strat though?
ah, the tex strat is having a rest since I used it nearly exclusively for a year, and we're a bit sick of each other :) I go through phases where I thirst to hear Binaural several times in a row... doing this song has made this week one of those phases :) It's much better in headphones than through speakers
Hi Louise! I'm well, how are you? I don't think so. Unless the surprise us with a philly visit. My head is spinning from moving across the country. Next time I'm going to five though. at least five. How about you?
So I woke up at 3:13 this morning for some reason and ever since I have had Rival in my head. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice way to go back to sleep and wake up again, but I am taking it as a sign. It is my time to finally get this song down. That main riff with the B flat diminished is hypnotizing to play. My question is how are you muting the A string during the diminished chord? It appears my aim is worse than I thought and seem to be getting the open A ringing out. If I were to keep my ring finger on the A 8th fret does that changed the B flat-diminished-ness of the cord? Well either way I nominate B flat diminished with A 8 (E flat) in the base as the “P chord” ;). I don’t know what I’m saying, just had to take a break. Have a good one man! Great lesson to a frick’n awesome song!!
I’m glad you didn’t edit out the appearances by the toilet and washing machine. They gave the video character. Great lesson as always. Looking forward to the Mike parts. Are you going to any of the PJ shows this summer?
well thanks Martin :P I'm not! I've been so consumed by moving across the country I've hardly had an ounce of energy to commit to bathing let alone planning concerts. Don't worry, I have been bathing. mostly.
Watching you for a while Ryan, can you please do Over the hills and far away from Led Zeppelin pls, would love to impress my dad with that song...thanks for everything...keep the good content coming. (I’ve listened to Pearl Jam my entire live, just fucking amazing, so glad i can play some of their songs on guitar now thanks to you)
What's up Vinz! Thanks for the shout :) I'm really really glad you're finding my nonsense helpful. I think I've got two requests for that one now! I'll be happy to do that for you. Cheers friend!

You're welcome Gareth :) You ought to know that a few days ago your comment was the last I responded to so I had your name in my head, and I jokingly named a large rubber duck Gareth, and the name has stuck.
Well given Ernie loves his rubber duckie I'll take that as a complement! Appreciate the celebrity love!
You're the best dude.... I'm learning so much.
50 points for learning Rival, John - cheers!

Contrary to the popular opinion, I think Binaural is great and is definitely in my top 3 PJ albums. New studio's looking great! Where's the Tex Strat though?
Raj Lalwani Binaural is a strange album. It has some of their best songs but it also has some of their worst.

What’s up Ryan!! How about a nice campfire lesson for Alive? Too many complicated electric videos online
That's a great request... I've been thinking about it for 21 hours now and apart from the B in the bridge I think I've got it
Ryan Lendt man that’d be awesome. Hope it’s next 🤔
