and if you are making someone mvp purely on stats, its about time they look at percentages and factor in that scoring 2 pointers as a 6'3 player is way harder than scoring them with a 7'4 wingspan.
the real truth is that stats and value to the team falls behind the fact that sportswriters and broadcasters decide whos in the race and who ranks where....
if curry averages 30 points on 50-40-90 and a usage rate of 33% and giannis and jokic average 33 points on 60-35-75 with a usage rate of 40%
the more impressive player is curry, he doing it in less attempts, less time on the ball, less free throws, higher accuracy from 3 and ft etc.
but they dont care about that, they care about high points and rebounds instead of high percentage shooting with fewer attempts and sharing the ball.

let this be a warning.... the man is nearing his best seasons in % of 2pt, 3pt.
if he or kerr decides less minutes for other players on the team, curry is averaging 35 instead of 30 pts.
sure sometimes it looks like hes taking alot of shots and some games alot of them dont go in.
but if you compare his fga with top 10 leaders in points.... he gets 5-6 free throws less, shoots 5 threes more and has 3 fga less
he also touches the ball 5% less than the other leading scorers.
I agree with you. Coach Kerr doesn’t allow for stacking numbers either. He’ll take a player out if he’s played his minutes even if he needs one basket for a record. Curry also plays less minutes than most point leaders. He’s the MVP because he’s the reason the Warriors win. It’s not your stats that should determine it. Although no one can argue with his. The other night he became the 1st player to score 10,000 points while making 3s. Yet, no one mentions it. Last night the Warriors beat Philly. The MVP contender went to the line more times than the entire Warrior’s team. Yes, Embid scored 40+ points but half were free throws because every time he goes to the basket a foul is called. It was also said Philly lost because Harden wasn’t playing…is Harden the MVP player on that team? The Mav’s lost because it’s said Kyrie wasn’t playing. Same question. Both teams MVP candidates played but couldn’t get it done. Curry can and does but he’s never mentioned for MVP this year.

and cuz the warriors are almost .500 this season, so his performance wasnt good enough to put his team in a good position.
to most people hes not carrying a team of good players, hes just in a team of great players and leading them in scoring.
also, curry hasnt even played 70% of all games so hes not even in the list of league leaders where he would be sharing the 5th spot (+- i havent checked for a week)
curry isnt getting an mvp call unless hes outscoring everyone and literally carrying his team..... which wont happen anymore because curry makes his teammates better... like how durant (WHO IS AWESOME) got mvp and was outscoring everyone in playoffs, cuz curry takes up so much defensive focus, durant got better looks.
imagine durant who gets faceguarded the whole match having to iso... but with curry running around and the heavy screening plays and another dead eye shooter named thompson waiting to quick release a C&S... durant was catching less attention than he would normally catch and the man is allready a top dog in shooting contested 2s and 3s... now he got some open looks and cuts to the rim.
The play in teams had horrible 3pt shooting, just like in the NBA 3pt shooting contest without Curry or Klay. Even Don’t or Poole could have helped those losing teams to win!!! Imagine all those shooters on the sane team!!!

I thought the same as you about the defense in those old games but here's what I failed to see until a few years ago -- the intent to play tight defense was always there, it's just that it's harder to play defense now and here's why: Many players can shoot from the 3 pt area. So the defense naturally spreads out and because of that, the lanes can almost always be open. This is why for many years the zone defense is deployed by some teams, so they can clog up the lanes when competing against a team with low 3pt percentage.
It's the 3 pt area that MAKES defense hard, and not the defense is gone.
For the defense to come back, I'd remove the 3 pt area and make it a 2pt game again.
I hate the soft treatment of Stars under the basket. Embid last night scored 40+ but half were free throws because everytime he approached the basket a foul is called. He went to the free throw line more than the entire Warrior team in the first half.
Curry never gets the calls under the basket. He’s so quick the refs miss it😂😂Last night Embid was very slow and methodical under the basket. Yes I know he’s a huge man. But the foul calls are always on his side. And no Curry never gets all those calls.
The defense style of old will come back if they remove the 3 pt line. That's unusual coming from me, since I was a spot up 3 pt shooter when I played but I will admit that the 3 pt area has made it basketball less intense, more boring.

Somehow the mixed up call by the refs means nothing if you watch the last minute of the game. Curry couldn’t be stopped. Warriors have that playoff DNA working for them. I think they’ll do good in the playoffs. Their team last year wasn’t expected to win shit but they only had one series go to 6 games. Never 7 .. unlike the Celtics. The playoffs are won by teams who have the ability to lose a game or two and come back to win the series. Does anyone remember who the Warriors beat on their way to the title 😮 Amazing resilience.
