I couldn't agree with you more on how fun these Ups are, I get one as a courtesy car every year and they're just brilliant. VW just need to make an Up! GTi. Keep up the excellent work with the content Joe!!
Thank you for keeping your channel neat and simple, driving hatchbacks and mini-cars more than supercars, which becomes rather boring considering there are 3-5 big youtubers that vlog supercars every day. Could've watched Shmees new video but decided to go with this first, not disappointed :D
Cheers man! Well firstly I certainly cant afford a supercar, and secondly they limit what you can really do on the public roads, thats why I REALLY love quick Hot Hatches as I believe they offer a perfect balance of power and grip relative to getting locked up. Haha I'm sure Tim wouldn't mind, I'm definitely not stepping on his toes :-) Saying all this I'm hopefully trying his GT8 soon, I might say yes to that one haha. :-)
Joe Achilles Fantastic man! A hothatch lovers view on a limited, screaming aston, should be awesome. Pretty jealous that you get these oportunities. Also great for your channel, it's been growing alot latley.
Yeah knowing that I will never be able to afford a car kinda makes me appreciate those hours soooo much more! It's funny (And I was discussing this with Will from my last video), I spent two months a few summers ago working for Slades (Supercar garage), basically picking up and delivering all sorts of insane machinery. No matter what I had driven, I always looked forward to the drive home in my M135i... Yeah since the start of the year my Subs have really picked up, that's motivated me to film more... :-)
Yeah been noticing more videos, and also the common vlogstyle which obviously is a good concept at the moment (even tho I perfered salomondrins ltacy everyday instead of the vlogs). In a way you remind me of salomondrin, very humble people with great taste. Totally understand the m135i over all the more-super cars, since you can give it a bit more tenths than faster cars. You kinda made me order my very own BMW M2 after seeing your m2 videos about a million times.
I just got a Seat Mii FR-line (sister car to the UP!) and what a fantastic little machine it is. I’m so happy with it - willing engine, great handling on sports suspension, comfortable seats, surprisingly spacious... basically all the things you mentioned in this video. Keep up the great content. An M140i is definitely on my radar for the future.
I had one of the very first ones in the UK, fell apart completely all the time but was still good fun to drive! Do like the new ones and doing an Up GTI in a year or so which will be fun!
Very nice work Joe. I have been following your videos since last summer and subscribed recently. I can say you definitely influenced me in buying my new M135 last year. What you are doing is different than any other test videos you can find, really appreciable ! Cheers from France ! (Dunno if you have french followers already ;))
Same as my VW Polo I'm selling now.. the 5th gear at 80 sits at quite high RPM.. was a great car but now onto more powerful things! Also the 70Bhp polo I have i agree on TC and wheelspin haha
Ah, the benefits and fun of having a car you have to work hard .... that's kinda why I've still got my F20 118i M sport ... the 1.6T is fast enough to have fun, and slow enough you can properly wring its neck 😂
Loving these vlogs, Joe!! We're on our 2nd Up! at the moment with another due in a few months. In that time I've had everything from a BMW 730Ld to a VW Touareg and (as a 6ft5" lump myself) I can honesty say that the Up! is just as comfy over any distance!! Keep up the good work; best of luck with the sale of your VW! 👍🏼
Well that says lots Matt, you're definitely a UP lover! I did almost consider getting rid of the M135 and keeping the UP until I decide on my next set of wheels, it will be sorely missed... Hopefully VW will lead me a GT when that becomes available :-)
Joe Achilles My other half drives it mainly, but I actually prefer to use it at weekends etc. over my Audi as it's just such a happy little thing to buzz about in. Definitely want a go in the GT myself, though I'd imagine even a normal spec car with the new 90PS TSI engine is a hoot 😄
Hey Joe ( to quote Jimi Hendrix!) great review as always. Particularly like the fact that you can make the VW UP sound so enticing as you did with the M135i. Hope that you get a fair price with minimum aggro!
+George Robinson Yeah I've heard, only 6 years late haha Why has taken VW soooo long, it would have helped sell the normal UP's if they had released it way back when... Cheers man
+Joe Achilles I know! Fiat 500 and Ford Fiesta have had turbo 1.0L engines since what... late 2013? It's not so much the power, but the torque. 70lbft at 3,000RPM is kind of lifeless and power isn't felt until like 4,000RPM. 110lbft at 1500 is more like it and should improve in gear acceleration.
This sounds a lot like my previous car a Fiesta Zetec S 1.0 Ecoboost the engine had character and the car was really fun to drive but when pushing on you wished it had a bit more to give, which is why I recently upgraded to an ST
Thanks mate. Indeed, would be good to catch up again sometime. Got some stuff planned for this year, but most is from the summer onwards. I'm sure we can sort something out. Re the editing, oh yes, many hours of editing saved! ;)
I'd add another negative i.e. really bouncy ride (since yours has a sports suspension I'm guessing by the wheels and tint). I had one like yours and drove one with standard setup and the non sports suspension was much nicer.
If you had 2 dogs, a baby and enjoyed chuckin your bike in the car...what would you go for for under 16k with good enough power to have some fun but not stupid power?
I've considered the bmw multiple times as I think an estate is the only option...just unsure on diesel with only covering about 8k miles a year...Only other wild option is a 328i touring or a seat cupra estate at a bit more dollar aorund 18/19k
Yeah the 328i is fractionally more sporty. Good call on the Cupra Estate too, but 18/19k would get you into a 330d, and trust me that is just about all the car anyone could ever want, if you haven't driven one please don't discount the 6 pot diesel, its magical!
I was originally looking at an m135i but I think I'd get too frustrated with the lack of the big boot to get dogs and pram in etc. 330d or even still 320d would be lovely with an auto box but 8k yearly miles with a diesel? Am I asking for much trouble? Cheers Joe! Keep up the varied videos :)
Gawd they really did make a bodge job of that didn't they! Seen as you are a growing channel rapidly if you are ever up north (Sheffield way) You are welcome to take my Astra Coupe out! Nice budget hot hatch! Great vid boss :)
Haha yeah I know mate, overtime I use them I swear I wont be back... And then I go back! I rarely go up north, but will definitely give you a shout if I do mate :-) Cheers man
Its content for you, and I honestly would like to hear the opinion of someone who prides a much higher quality hatch, and how it compares! And tell me about it, my local wash i use every couple week, and a quick wash is only a fiver or tenner for a lil valet like you had, and honestly for the effort it takes me through the winter i just let them do it, Ill go back to washing it myself properly in the summer! :D
17 seconds to 60 mph (on the 1.0 Corsa I owned 9 months ago when I got my license) is not fun at all 😂. BMW sitting positions are just spot on. My current car (10' 320d 4dr) is obviously faster, more economical around town (I get 50mpg as opposed to no more than 30 on the corsa). I would probably never ever buy a 'city car' again.
Joe Achilles they are terrifying fun. Doing 70+ on the country roads scares the hell out of you and gives you an unmatched adrenaline hahaha. It gets pushed around by the wind, tires are too small and car lacks aerodynamics road holding... had a lot of fun with my Corsa. And I sort of didn't care about it the way I do my BMW so I would do so many stupid shenanigans with it. I would also like to commend you on for this channel man. Honestly is one of my top 5 favourites out of all the car guys. It's really enjoyable because of your character. Can't say I've felt like being in the car with you and have knowing you for years about most RUclips personalities. Keep up the good work and it honestly deserves a lot more followings than it currently has.
Cheers man really appreciate your kind words! These Blogs suit me perfectly, just film on my days off and stick on RUclips haha. Thanks for your support!
Hey Joe, I have the same engine in my Polo and I 100% agree on the sixth gear thing. It ticks over at just under 4 grand at 70 and still manages to get 48/52 mpg. Boggles my mind that they don't offer it in the more expensive polo! Love your stuff mate, you pretty much persuaded my dad to buy an M140i before crimbo! (he is being a bit of a pussy with it though)
Hey Scott, Yeah its an amazing little engine, proves that it's not all about that power figure! Haha glad your old man got the M140, try getting yourself on the insurance ;-) Cheers
I really want a Polo but I feel 60ps or even 75ps is just way too little for that size of car. It's not even big. I currently have an 82ps Corsa and I find that slow, especially when I need the power the most.
Yeah I've driven the Polo 60 and it REALLY does struggle, think the Polo is around 150kg heavier than the equivalent UP, my ex used to say this car went so much slower with me sitting in the passenger seat haha. Will the imminent UP GT be in your price range? Cheers
Joe Achilles sadly not! I'm waiting until I leave college before I get serious about looking for a new car at least. I did see your Up! on Autotrader, it looks in great condition. I think I'll be looking at about £5 - £7k. I would like a MINI but insurance is too much. However, if finance became an option that can change the price range. I was looking at a Polo Match Edition or Beats. I'm hoping to be able to apply for a trainee sales position at JCT600 so that could help too.
This could be a replacement contender for my Mrs daily. Cheers Joe.
You should be at 100k by the end of 2017. Your content is very high quality.
Cheers Nik, that means a lot because I know you watch all the car guys :-)
***** Here, I'll give you a chance. Describe in one sentence why your channel is worthy of watching, what differentiates it?
***** I like your understated approach. I'll make sure to check out some of your vids:)
I couldn't agree with you more on how fun these Ups are, I get one as a courtesy car every year and they're just brilliant. VW just need to make an Up! GTi.
Keep up the excellent work with the content Joe!!

Could've watched Shmees new video but decided to go with this first, not disappointed :D
Obviously no offence to Shmee, more of a nod to you that you're doing something right! Now onto Shmee's video.
Cheers man! Well firstly I certainly cant afford a supercar, and secondly they limit what you can really do on the public roads, thats why I REALLY love quick Hot Hatches as I believe they offer a perfect balance of power and grip relative to getting locked up. Useful video, thanks. Was thinking about buying one of these for my other half to chauffeur me about in. Ahem, I mean, for my other half to use :)
That car wash was shocking...lol great quality vid as always 👍
Haha tell me about it! Thanks buddy :-)
I just got a Seat Mii FR-line (sister car to the UP!) and what a fantastic little machine it is. High quality content. Looking forward for the next videos !
"Can't remember her name..." didn't see that coming, made me chuckle that one!
+Steelster Haha that was a treat for those who watched the entire VLOG 🖒🖒🖒
I have a 1.2 Polo and they are quite nippy cars, but I agree could do with a bit more power!
I had one of the very first ones in the UK, fell apart completely all the time but was still good fun to drive! Do like the new ones and doing an Up GTI in a year or so which will be fun!
Loved the vid, and love this car! This is going to be my first car in a month... Can't wait!
Very nice work Joe.
I have been following your videos since last summer and subscribed recently. I can say you definitely influenced me in buying my new M135 last year.
What you are doing is different than any other test videos you can find, really appreciable !
Cheers from France ! (Dunno if you have french followers already ;))
Oddly the Up was pulled from the Aussie market because they couldn't attract enough buyers for them. Perhaps a tad to small. Nice review.
I'm getting a secondhand VW Up soon. It will be the first car I've bought entirely by myself and I can't wait :D great video!
Great little cars, I really miss mine :-(
Same as my VW Polo I'm selling now.. the 5th gear at 80 sits at quite high RPM.. was a great car but now onto more powerful things!
Also the 70Bhp polo I have i agree on TC and wheelspin haha
As we'd say in South Africa...
LEKKER JOE!
Cheers buddy, had watched all your vids last month but forgot to sub... I have fixed that now :-)
Joe Achilles ahhh man! Appreciate it! :) thanks thanks thanks!
Awesome little car, with the Fuse pull. You've got a completely different little car. Let's hope the GTI version gets that treatment 👍🏼🏁.
Sideway Sid I should have tried that before selling it... 👊
Would have loved one of these for a first car! 😀 iPod connectivity worth it's weight in gold.
Top quality content as always Joe👌
Good VLOG Joe. Keep them coming.
Ah, the benefits and fun of having a car you have to work hard .... that's kinda why I've still got my F20 118i M sport ... the 1.6T is fast enough to have fun, and slow enough you can properly wring its neck 😂

Nifty little car. Good review.
Yay more Joe!!
Have been given one on hire, so much bang for buck and you can have actual fun with something with almost no power! Who's the 'we' Joe?
Haha yeah who would have thought 70bhp could be such a riot! The "we" is actually referring to my ex, another reason the car must go... Cheers
Great Work Joe :) surprised you kept the M135i and not the UP! ;)
Great vlog as always Joe.
Would you recommend it for a first car ? Thinking of getting one . Take it to posh wash next time if it's near your.
Sgd On cars I would man, I genuinely love driving this car, make sure you get the 75ps, not the 65ps. This one's for sale 😉
Hey Joe ( to quote Jimi Hendrix!) great review as always. Particularly like the fact that you can make the VW UP sound so enticing as you did with the M135i. Hope that you get a fair price with minimum aggro!
Stephen Wilson haha love that song! Cheers man, I'm clearly easily pleased, who needs a 300k McLaren 😂👌👊
Great blog Joe, keep em coming mate👍🏻
Cheers buddy, nothing very interesting but figured it might amuse some viewers haha.
VLOG...
Hi Joe! You might like to hear there is an Up! GTI scheduled for release in 2018 with 114bhp and a 6 speed manual.
+George Robinson Yeah I've heard, only 6 years late haha Why has taken VW soooo long, it would have helped sell the normal UP's if they had released it way back when... Cheers man

Late comment but I have an UP! And I really wish it had a 6th Gear too, needs it on motorways, although I get 70mph at 2,500 rpm
This sounds a lot like my previous car a Fiesta Zetec S 1.0 Ecoboost the engine had character and the car was really fun to drive but when pushing on you wished it had a bit more to give, which is why I recently upgraded to an ST
Nice man glad you get what I'm on about.... And yeah the Fiesta ST is a brilliant car! Cheers
Get the new vw up tsi, brilliant car more powerfull and very funny to drive. Cheers mate!
"That's what she said, (wink)" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Evening Joe, great video as per usual! Liking this new vlog series :)
Hey buddy, hope you're well mate! Cheers man, I'm loving making them too, easy to film and MUCH shorter to edit... Hopefully see you soon mate!
Thanks mate. Indeed, would be good to catch up again sometime. Got some stuff planned for this year, but most is from the summer onwards. I'm sure we can sort something out. Re the editing, oh yes, many hours of editing saved! ;)
Fantastic video!! Can you please tell me which top gear episode Jeremy Clark son reviews the VW UP! I would love to watch it :)
No idea, just put Top Gear and VW UP into youtube search. Cheers
I'd add another negative i.e. really bouncy ride (since yours has a sports suspension I'm guessing by the wheels and tint). I had one like yours and drove one with standard setup and the non sports suspension was much nicer.
z00h Oh I didn't actually find the ride too bad, we did jump from a Smart fortwo though and that ride was shocking 😂👌
I've got a Vw polo.. very similar car but how has the up included with heated seats and that isn't even an option on the polo!! nice video :'-)
Again great video, keep it up!
I've been to that exact car wash, they're awful! Never again
Great video, thanks for sharing! ;)
Nice one joe 👍
If you had 2 dogs, a baby and enjoyed chuckin your bike in the car...what would you go for for under 16k with good enough power to have some fun but not stupid power?
£16k would get you into a 2014 MK7 Golf GTi, if you can fit thats what I would do. Otherwise a 2013 320D M sport Touring?
I've considered the bmw multiple times as I think an estate is the only option...just unsure on diesel with only covering about 8k miles a year...Only other wild option is a 328i touring or a seat cupra estate at a bit more dollar aorund 18/19k

Trouble in what sense, the diesels will last for ever... Thanks man
You did not disappoint me 😂😂😂
Hahaha Thought you would appreciate my stupid humour buddy :-)
Joe Achilles haha absolutely!
Joe, fix the link to the Facebook page
Gawd they really did make a bodge job of that didn't they! Seen as you are a growing channel rapidly if you are ever up north (Sheffield way) You are welcome to take my Astra Coupe out! Nice budget hot hatch! Great vid boss :)

I'm so tempted to give you my Golf R to review! I'd just be scared for its safety. haha
Ashley Lewis haha. I've been offered a few Golf R's, just need to find the time... Cheers for at least considering it 😂👌
If one of the others falls through, the offer is there! I'll drop you an email with my details just in case. :)
17 seconds to 60 mph (on the 1.0 Corsa I owned 9 months ago when I got my license) is not fun at all 😂. BMW sitting positions are just spot on. 6:11 XD... by looking at the windows of the car after the wash. They really did a shit job!!
But as always nice video!
Haha yeah total shite mate, I should have pulled my finger out and done it myself really! Cheers man
Clocks? Crocs? Who is this other RUclipsr you keep referring to?
Kuemmerling Enthusiast what?
Hey Joe,

sounds like an i8!
👍
Heated Seat comments 😂✌
done a shit job, lol. You would have been better off washing the car your self.
