Hey Conrad !! Awesome concert . Loved the composition and the band !! Inspiring , Especially during this challenging time of " Covid ". The band rocks. Bill Evans
Radjazz!!! - Greetings from Mid.-Mo. Looking very professorial introducing the piece. Looks like you have Mr. Lewis on drums; best to him, please. I always wondered what you do. Now I know. Looks like you actually work! Sounds great. Given permission to do so,we might have to use it as a "We Always Swing" Jazz Series "Video of the Week." Best, S.A.
Wow! I'm the dad of a junior cellist at MGSA, but I absolutely love jazz. Are any of these performances available for purchase? Is there a catalog of recordings somewhere?
It's a blast to watch this and the group sounds great. A request to the channel owner: can you write a bit in the description about how you organised the recording? Was there a scratch track for everyone? Did you record the rhythm section first? When were the solos added? And did the band play these charts together as a band before COVID, or have you only done these as a mediated ensemble? Thanks!
As a Rutgers Jazz student I can say that these were almost definitely not played together in person. Most likely they started with a scratch track, then threw rhythm on, then horns, afterwards doing 2nd, 3rd, maybe even 4th takes before doing the final take with video.
@@samuelwilson818 Thanks-Right I know this is a multi-track effort, I'm just wondering if they EVER had a chance to rehearse it in person, of if it was virtual from soup-to-nuts, from first rehearsal to final downbeat. Hopefully somebody chimes in-I'm impressed and want to know more!
@Marc Stasio Awesome, thank you for the description Prof. Stasio. One additional question, how did each student get their tracks and video to the producer. Did they record into Pro Tools, Logic, or Garage Band?
@Marc Stasio Thank you for sharing. Would like to produce a virtual performance by my students (high school). Trying figure out the best strategy to highlight their achievements. What you all are doing is absolutely superb 👌🏾.
Rutgers Jazz -- One of the best University-based jazz programs in the world! Making magic here, as usual. Great!
