Thank you so much Boris! It's a beautiful knife and the combination of colours on the handle to represent our countries was a great idea! I can say confidently no one out there will ever have a knife like this! 😁
It was my pleasure Grant, I am glad that you like the idea for the handle and I hope you will enjoy that knife for many years. Also I want to thank you once again for the awesome knife block 👌😃👍
As somewhat of a traditionalist, I am glad that when I read the comments I found out that the handle had some significance to you, because I thought it was hideous. That lovely wood with oil and wax to me would have been better. Nice work on the blade especially since it was all hand driven tools.
I really like the way the handle looked, it was really beautiful and is a good contrast to what people would imagine the handle of what such an elegant looking knife would be since people would most likely imagine a plain wood handle or an ivory/pearl looking handle
Sweet! Thank you for kind words and welcome here! I am so glad that I had opportunity to collaborate with Grant, I hope you will find my other content interesting 😃👍 Take care!
There is a saying in my country which says “you cant argue about taste” I think most comments on this restauration wil 😉 And i am sorry to say i am one of your fans who really doesnt like the handle. But he, beside that, great job as usual!
Another great restoration. I have a small tip that works for me. If I am doing lots of hand sanding or sharpening with paper I prefer a little padding under the paper and have found that old mouse pads are perfect. I am running out and need a source for free mouse pads. I have a 2 inch wide sanding board with 2 grades of paper on each side and i am now thinking about those ruberey drawer liners that people use for silverware.
Hello Friend !!! While watching the video, I was not convinced about the handle version for this knife, but the end result is great. I wish you another 100 videos, best regards ✌️
Hello my friend! Oh, good to hear you were watching to see the end result. I knew it could make that not convincing moment... Thank you from my heart. It really means a lot to me your support! Stay safe my friend!
Good job my friend keep up the good work sorry I haven't commented on your videos in a while been on vacation but I was bored and decided to watch one of your videos and realize you posted a new one great job keep up the good work God bless you
Congratulations on your 100th! I have mixed feelings about the handle but loved the technique. I wonder if you'll bring back pyrography to the channel and use it on the handle. That would be awesome too 😁 All in all, another satisfying video.
Thanks Anisa, I appreciate your honest feedback. I do have some plans for the handles and leather work. I will have more space in the new shop and thinking to make small ¨burning¨ station 👍
@@FFD_Restorations that is such exciting news! I really look forward to see you in the new workshop. Also, I've read Grant's comment about the color choice on the handle. And I totally love what you did. Stay safe, Boris!
Great job, congratulations! I also make old things’ restorations and repairing, because I believe they have to have second life) Your videos inspired me to make my own channel. Congrats once again! All the best, Dmitry
Deswegen. Top Arbeit Boris 👍🏻
Great video as always... Only that I don't come to understand what did you try to do with that red, blue, white "patina" painting job in the wood grip.. ¿?
@@FFD_Restorations Hooo... Now I get it... Once again nice fine criteria, for putting those colours in combination with the "art of nature itself..." by letting the texture of the wood to meet the eyes too...lol...
Hello this is the second time watching your videos, iadmire how youve done your restoration without any power tools Great im from the philippines doing restoration too
Hi there! Thanks for asking! I posted on community tab about the Etsy shop. I wrote in that post: ¨Sad announcement, for those who shopped vintage knives in my Etsy shop and directly supported restorations I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sadly, I will not sell vintage knives anymore because Etsy has closed a few of my listings. The reason for that is that ¨Etsy prohibits propaganda, collectibles, and curios that commemorate hate groups, even when they are being sold for historical or educational purposes.¨, further more ¨Please be aware that continuing to list prohibited items may lead to the suspension of your account.¨. Even though I haven't done anything wrong, I respect their platform and rules, and decided to stop selling on Etsy because tomorrow they can change rules or whatever and deactivate even more of my listings. To find, make photos and video, list, sell and ship a vintage knife takes a lot of energy and time. I was making a very little money to support my restorations and buy old tools to use in my videos. Long story short, it doesn't worth it. It is better to channel that time and energy in new videos and new creative ideas.¨

Thanks! Canada-Norway flag colours combination, blended together since it is a collaboration video.

A bit like relicing a guitar.
Glad that you channel is growing.ATB.
Much appreciated Mats!
Stay safe!
Enjoyed this video very much! How do you keep from messing up the bevel on the blade when sanding ?
Nice 😀👍
I did so many of them that I gained a feel for the right angle. First attempts where terrible 😂
👍 How does a knife get in that bad of condition? Excellent restoration!
In most cases people don't take appropriate care or it is just not appropriately stored. Thanks
The handle? big mistake!!! Why do you hurt my eyes man? I can't stop crying!!! Anyway...Thanks for sharing!!
hmmmm nice quote.
"i can't stop crying"
I am sorry to hear that! Thanks for watching!
What grit was the wet sand paper after you painted the handle? I like that
It was 400 grit, it took me forever, I probably should start with 240...
Thanks for watching!

Riktigt bra som vanligt! 😁
Handle looked better before the restoration
Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome. Mr. Woody still needs a girlfriend 😂
Hehe, it really does 😆👍
I have to fix that in new shop 😂

Saludos.
Gracias por la respuesta. Saludos.
