Balón D’or is about best player for a team, meaning it actually focuses on the numerical and qualitative impact/contributions (goals, assists, chances created, etc) you make for your team and then whether or not that directly led to the team success. Haaland is a strict striker, a machine of goal scoring but he isn’t a playmaker, dribbler, etc. importantly he didn’t score a single goal or assist a goal in ANY of the finals he was in!!!!

When you are talking about Erling Haaland's achivements... You can't ignore Kevin de bruyne, İlkay Gündoğan, Rodri, Bernardo Silva. They were all superb active, super performers in their own positions. They all deserves Ballon d'Or. They were a great team. So everyone of them have 20% chances to get Ballon d'Or. Haaland may have more than 30% chance ratio as a pure goal scorer. It is noticeable, he is PL top scorer. On the otherside when you are talking about Country & Club combined... Messi is the name you will get. MBappe was also great performer but unfortunately he didn't won WC. Leage 1, French cups are not enough when Haaland did same great performance as a Champions league winner. In PSG's last few matches Messi scored match deciding goals to ensure League 1 and French Cup. And He was the Golden Player of Fifa WC. I'm astounded at Craig. I've been agreeing with him, about Mbappe and others. I thought he was brave enough to be critical and freely express his opinion. More than that I thought that he knew football. I'm completely disabused. To say that Haaland, as good as he is, with his 52 goals could possibly beat Messi for the Ballon d'or has made me doubt his knowledge of football and his judgment. Haaland doesn't control the ball. Haaland sits in the box and waits for kdb to deliver it. That is what Haaland does, that is his role in the team. Could he do something more impressive?
