A beautiful interpretation. Her vocals have an ethereal, off the cuff looseness that wonderfully matches the lyrics. And the solo guitar is light and absolutely the right choice to match the vocals.
Absolutely fantastic song choice. Amazing cover. This is one of my all time favorite songs that I don’t normally tell people about. It’s a special one for me. Van Morrison’s music and voice, imho, can evoke an emotion that no one else can. He just has something extremely special and so unique. A song like this has never been written since Astral Weeks was released was he was very young. An immense talent.
Joy Crookes' cover is a delightful testament to the power of minimalism. I've heard a slew of Van Morrison covers for the "Rave On" series, and many fail to realize that less is more. Joy nailed it beautifully.
What a beautiful voice and incredible take on this great, great song. Three chords and the truth, right?? God bless her and also Van the Man. So wonderful. Thank you so much Ms. Crookes
I had never heard her voice before I played this tribute to the Van at 75 from the Hotpress tribute. Oh my lord this is stunning. A girl a guitar and a raw vocal masterclass. 🎸🙌🎶
I’ve listened to about 100 van Morrison covers today. No one’s voice can come close to what his did. However your the first I’ve heard to capture his energy and cadence which was the “it” that he had. Really a great job on this song.
I first heard this song on a cassette tape in Limerick in the spring of 1979 and I was immediately attached to Van Morrison singing it, until Joy I heard your excellent interpretation of this difficult song. Well done Joy.
Unbelievable version Joy. I'm a massive Van fan being from Beautiful Northern Ireland. This is sooo good. A little touch of Amy Winehouse eeking thru as well, which is never a bad thing. Excellent, well done
This is so good, the guitar recreates the same atmosphere as the original, the vocal phasing is sympathetic yet wonderfully done.all in all a fine effort.
A tender, loving rendition. Thank you, Madame Joy. For another acoustic solo version, please check out Van's 1973 performance in the RTE studio in November 1973: "and you are the music and the music becomes you".
A favourite Van M song of mine. This young lady has performed it so wonderfully. Fantastic voice and perfect accompaniment. I wish I could do just half as well on just one of the parts. Bravo Joy!
Just sayin' ...(and I probably posted before this but I keep listening to this)...what a great version !! ...Of all the tributes Joy and Bronagh the best, in that order !
A beautiful interpretation. Her vocals have an ethereal, off the cuff looseness that wonderfully matches the lyrics. And the solo guitar is light and absolutely the right choice to match the vocals.
I'm an old guy and so pleased to hear this young lady give such a sweet interpretation of one of Van's legendary ballads!

I'm a great believer in the "less is more" principle.....many musicians aren't ......seemingly.
Beautiful.
