    Mass Effect Legendary Edition New Features
    All the games are packaged in one launcher. So you launch the game on Origin or Steam on PC. So if you want to start with Mass Effect 2 or 3 you can. And there is actually this cool cutscene they added to Mass Effect 2 and another one in Mass Effect 3 that sort of a comic recap of the events happened in the previous game.
    A really Cool feature about Mass Effect Legendary Edition is that they have a unified character creator meaning the character creator is the same from game to game to game. Which means you can create the same visual appearance if you are trying to make your character again. You can of course import your save from game to game to game but if you want to make the same character for some reason.
    If you are playing on Xbox One and you decided to get an Xbox Series S or X. Your save file will transfer to your Series X or S and you will be able to keep playing the game. However, if you are playing on PS4 and get a PS5, that would not transfer.
    The last notable feature that comes with the game before we get into performance is that there are 40 DLCs ,promo armors and weapons added to this. So you will have a ton of DLCs added to this game. There is going to be extra content for you. It is not just the regular games in these editions. It’s like everything stuffed in there that you could possibly want. There is alot to this and the cost is 59.99. You are getting a lot in there for that price.
    Mass Effect Legendary Edition Performance
    Talking about performance, I want to start with Mass Effect 1 first. it looks the worst out of all three games. No surprise there, it is the oldest and needed the most quality of life , you can see if you look at the notes they added to mass effect 1. They spent far more time improving on quality of life improvements on ME 1. Trying to bring it up to par with Mass Effect 2 and 3.
    While they did a good job and a lot of things were added, I don’t think they fully succeeded in this. First of all you are going to notice the graphics are worse. It is just a fact, they don’t look terrible and it is not the end of the world but as you play Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, you are going to see a huge difference in ME 1 ,ME 2 and ME 3 and that’s fine.
    Final Thoughts
    So far, I am really happy with Mass Effect Legendary Edition, it is 59.99 with all their DLCs and promo stuff effectively. Which is a great price even if you didn’t buy a remaster but you are getting a remastered version on top of that package so it is a really really good deal. These games will give you 50-70 hours of playtime and gameplay. That is a lot of value for your money especially compared to these other remaster games recently. It is just really really well done in my opinion.
    If you are a fan of this series, you are going to love this game and if you are new to this franchise it is probably good enough Mass Effect 1 to get you through Mass Effect 2 and 3 with very little complaints.

      I don't know.. it's a good game, no question there.. but to be honest the whole side missions felt kinda disconnected from the main story/threat. As for the narrative ,it takes a while to kick in(considering there is also room for exploration, side quests etc) but once you've experience the world builing and the story, there is no going back - it's like a interactive movie. Same here. Absolutely the best game in its genre. I have played all three parts at least three times and I still get teary eyed on Rannoch or Mordin's song on Tuchanka (in my opinion two of the best written plots in all media).
      Personally I didn't even hate the ending, since (maybe from my experience as a writer) I am comfortable with the hero's self-sacrifice (I usually choose to meld living beings and machine entities) for a greater good.
      Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be on my To Buy List very near the top (if not at the top). 60€ for 3 Games with a ton of DLC is even a bargain, if you have most of the content (minus the DLCs for 1 and 2) already in the original version.

But you can still screw things up big time in ME2, enough to lose an entire race in ME3, for example. I'd say that affects the main plot. Also, there's the whole genophage arc and the MUCH better results you get in ME3's missions if you play ME2 and... get the best ending, not to spoil anyyhing.

    Very good review as usual! I'd bite but at my age (73) I don't have the reflexes any more to play RT shooters, though this one certainly looks like something I'd have enjoyed at one time. As a TBS strategy player from the late 80's I've ignored shooters since I stopped playing the original Doom soon after it first came out. Coordination was never one of my strong points so I moved on, never even getting into RTS much, again due to the clickfest factor. Recently I've discovered turn based fantasy and sci-fi TBS RPG's and the RPG world has a lot going for it, I"ll say that. This one is intriguing, but I'm not eager to drop $60 into a game I probably will find I cannot do well in at this stage of life. So my message to you young pups out there is - dive into these while you still can!

    • @PunkerNinetySix
      @PunkerNinetySix 2 года назад +6

      Hey there. I noticed that no one had replied to your comment and I just wanted to point out to you that Mass Effect does have multiple difficulty settings. The easiest of these options is intended to give you the narrative experience without having to suffer through combat that is too difficult and makes the game highly playable for inexperienced players. There is no shame in playing the game the way you choose to play and, if you're finding that you have an interest in this trilogy of games, I'd highly recommend playing them. The story is a memorable journey, so much so that I envy anyone who has the opportunity to play through it for the first time. There is a reason this series has touched so many players. Its just too good to miss in my opinion. Do some research into the difficulty options and you may just find it worth giving a shot.

    One thing that is great about Mass Effect is how the societal structure of it reflects loosely some ideals presented in The Republic by Plato, in particular the class structure of the in game societal system and how people seem to be (from a cursory glance) born to do specific roles. There is limited mobility based on one's own strengths, however generally speaking where you're born you stay, as such it leads to a very stable society, one that is not without faults. Yet ultimately is capable of such feats as say driving back the reapers and having a multi-species society without much disturbing the overall fabric of the system as a whole.
    Yes this is a video game I get it, as such the society is not organic, yet it's a nice depiction of what a working system could accomplish when done with a reasonable amount of competency. My only gripe with it overall is the lack of a central authority figure. As the whole idea of Plato's republic is that of the Philosopher King being the ideal ruler, and I see such not represented at all here.

    • @gazza7693
      @gazza7693 3 года назад +2

      The council is the central authority figure, the holy trinity of Turians, Asari and Salarians worked for centuries before Humans appeared. Other races want a seat on the council and others have no desire at all. A lot of the lore codex we read has been translated for a humans eyes to read so bringing our own bias into the galactic community is an inherently human thing to do which Mass Effect was so great at showing. The idea of a philosopher king and/or god emperors is a human social construct really. The Asari might view Plato's teachings as poultry compared to their philosophies that are millennia older, as well as Asari live up to 1000 years so would be much more wiser than humans.

    Are the gameplay improvements significant? I'm currently halfway through playing Mass Effect 1 on Xbox with my wife, and we plan on playing through all three eventually. However, if the improvements are mainly the graphics with some minor gameplay tweeks, I don't know if that's worth having to start over for. Imo the original graphics look fine to me and I doubt we'll have the time to play through the dlc.

    I'm honestly pretty excited for this. It's been so many years since good games like these have come out. Nothing has really compared to them, not even Bioware's current efforts. It's going to be fun to go back and just play some of the best games of these generations. ME3 ending was a let down, but to be honest, i'm pretty excited to go through the entire series.

I don’t need f2p games al of them are better than the ME Trilogy it didn’t age well it’s the same thing as KOTOR objectively speaking ME1 is a horrible game with a good story ME3 is the opposite the only one I found was a good balance of the two was the 2nd one
      The last generation of consoles was probably the best ever tbh the only other console that comes to mind is the N64 you’re comparing brand new games to old games stuck on hardware that restricted so much of the games potential it’s not fair comparing the two

    Did they fix the clunky inventory of the 1st game? The scrolling through duplicates and triplicates of items and not being able to sort or delete multiples was tedious as hell. Also, did they improve the controls of the Mako in the 1st game?

      You can create a better-looking game with Enb and retextures already (Even better than the RM) and the ton of QoL and content add-ons - totally beats any small changes they made and things they removed in RM...
