well, how did it go? did you sleep well that night? How was your vacation? Where did you go? Were you able to sleep the next night too? Did you use a diffuser video or rewatch this one?
By the way, there is a common line in the scotch that even experts get tripped up on: 1 e4 e5 2 nf3 nc6 3 d4 xd4 4 bc4 nf6 5 e5 d5 6 bb5 ne4 7 nxd4 bd7 8 bxc6 xc6 9 0-0 bc4 10 f3 ng5 11 f4 ne4 12 be3 Everyone makes the mistake 12... 0-0, but this is actually a big mistake: 13 nd2 nxd2 14 qxd2 bb6 15 nb3 and you control the crucial c5 square (once you get your knight to c5, you are pushing for a win) Sorry for all this theory dumping, but memorizing this one line can help you beat even expert players! Happy scotch gambit-ing!
I have been waiting for this video! I have been playing the Scotch since my earliest days beginning in chess, and I have loved playing the Scotch gambit after watching a few videos on it from Remote Chess Academy. He has some great material on it but I have been itching for an ASMR Chess video since your way of walking through and explaining concepts and ideas just *sticks* so well in my brain. This one will be on repeat for me for a long time
the editing and the quality here is so unmatched. been having to put playing on hold recently and this helps keep me thinking of chess, and hopefully keeps me sharp. thank you so much for doing this for those of us who need to find the comfort where we can get it!
I love the opening videos. I often come back to them to study. Also helps me feel a bit better about staying up watching RUclips, cause I feel like I’m learning :)
If my following on patreon was bigger I would be able to work more on the channel. I would really like to be able to publish a new video twice each week.
I’ve been playing this a bit since you made this video. I have been seeing people much more willing to accept the gambit as compared to the Kings Gambit that I usually play.
Recently i started playing the scotch opening and trying to learn the various lines I have always loved your opening videos and i was thinking it would be great if asmr chess makes a video on this and here u are 😂😂
As a beginner, I only knew a few moves of the Scotch Game so it was really cool to learn more about the gambit! Also, I'm really enjoying following the results of the deployment-auto chess. Thank you for your awesome work. 😄
I’m going to try and figure out a few E pawn openings for white, since I mostly have been using queens gambit. My goal is to get to Master from 1000 and this looks like a very promising opening for just that.
Chess is one of those games that is always both soothing and challenging. The complex strategies and clever moves in this game always lead to evolution and excitement. Playing chess is an extraordinary intellectual experience!
This is awesome, I have played the exact same bishop f7 sacrifice and follow up moves in my own games within the Evan’s Gambit, I will have to try the scotch gambit seeing as though it opens up the opportunity for similarly aggressive attacks!
Hello, and nice video! The auto chess idea is super interesting. I wanna know how it ends and what lessons can be drawn from it. What happens if you iterate upon the concept a little? Is there a setup which beats all the others? Is there an optimal "defensive" setup which will draw almost all matchups? Is leaving castling privileges a good thing? Where should the king go? What's an optimal "king bunker"? I've got so many questions. It feels like such a tease just throwing it in there as an afterthought and not following through. It's definitely worth a full length focused video from start to finish with some solid conclusions at the end! You've got me super curious and profoundly unsatisfied just leaving the story hanging like this. Please sir, can I have some more?
Since it’s not in the title that the results of round two are in this video, you might consider adding a link to this video in previous video’s comments /description so future viewers know where to find it. Thank you!
The horizontal piece of the cross on your Kings is quite broad, and I like to imagine that it's a little man sitting on top of the piece controlling the board like a Robotnik Robot
I like your pace, repetition, and most importantly, use of physical chess pieces to allow for better visualisation (rather than viewing computer screen like most teachers do) ❤
I’m seeing in comments that viewer numbers are down, but I’d just like to throw out there that I’m a brand new subscriber! I happened across your channel a few days ago and have since been binge watching all of your videos. 😂 I’m not even a chess player, I just love your voice, the meticulous way you explain the moves, and the intricacy of the game. I might need to go find someone to play chess with me so I can learn. :)
You should make 2 caro-kann videos, one with the more common exchange and advance variations, and another with the classical and fantasy variations. They should get views because they are popular openings.
It's been a while since I've studied one of your videos every evening since its posting. I have to ask, is this gambit as fun as it looks? Have you been using it much? I'm itching to try it.
I think Im in love ❤️... with this video, that is. I wonder 🤔.. if the creator can see how many times I viewed this one video. I could see myself being so proud about it but embarrassed as, cause Im sure my viewing of this vid is up there now.
Your ad was very relaxing because of your voice, but the very bright light was in great contrast to the rest of your video and hurt my eyes a bit. I feel it's so much to as for when you already do so much for us, but I'd appreciate if the ad could use a darker color scheme like the rest of the video. Thank you for all you do :)
Great vid!! Question, do you still play StarCraft II at all? I loved the video you put out (albeit 9 years ago) another sc video would be amazing! Also loving the chess sounds
First time I skipped to the end of the video before viewing the rest of the video haha. I just had to first see the results of starting position experiment Just in case I fell asleep before reaching that secion. It's still ASMR after all ;)
I must say , I don’t see why it’s so impossible for the black knight to capture the central white pawn after the white has castled. Sure , they run into a pin, but it looks natural for black to simply shoot out the black bishop to protect the knight twice. That prevents capture is it would mean white having to sacrifice a rook for a bishop. So white would need to attack again with their bishop, at which point black can castle and the pin is gone
If you are talking about the position at 22:00 then it is completely losing for black to capture the central pawn. First white recaptures with their own knight and when black recaptures with their last knight white plays Re1 to pin the knight. Black can protect with the bishop or with the d-pawn but it doesn’t matter as white will play pawn to f4 threatening to capture the knight. No matter what black does white will capture the knight on the next move and have a winning position. 6. 0-0, Nxe5 7. Nxe5, Nxe5 8. Re1, Bd6 (or just d6) and then 9. f4 wins

The better you understand the rook the easier they are to get rid of. The first thing you want to do is understand when you can trade rooks. Here are how strong the different pieces are: Pawn = 1 Knight = 3 Bishop = 3 Rook = 5 Queen = 9 That means you don’t want to trade your rooks for your opponents bishops or knights but if you can trade YOUR bishops and knights for THEIR rooks it is good for you. Second you want to understand how to make good use of your own rooks. Rooks are usually that last piece you develop since it is quite clumsy in the beginnign when there is many pieces in the way. Therefore you start by developing pawns in the center, getting the knights and bishops out and getting your king castles. Then you look for open “files” where the rooks can be placed to attack like a cannon far into the enemy ranks. Rooks are best when the can see and protect eachother. They are even better when they are on top of one another shooting down the board towards the opponent, so that the rook in front is always protected by the rook behind it (we call this a battery in chess). The last thing to understand about rooks is that they get better and better the fewer pieces there are on the board. Let’s say you are in an endgame and you have 3 pawns and a rook while your opponents have 3 pawns and a knight. Your rook is MUCH better than the knight because it can travel around the entire chessboard very quickly, while the knight is very slow. Now let’s give your opponent a bishop instead of a knight. Your rook is STILL much better! Yes the bishop is just as fast as the rook, but because of the way it moves it can only ever half of the chessboard (if it is on the light squares it can never go to any dark square) while the rook can visit every single square on the chessboard. Hope this helps!
So I fell asleep to this, but was playing in dreams and managed to keep my opponent on their heels. Until the narration called checkmate while he was clearly in check, followed by two clearly wrong moves and announced I was in check, at which point I awoke enraged at this cheater. Flushed, itchy, and taking my senses back as the ASMR then continued to the computer games, I had to giggle a bit.
This assumes my opponent is competent about chess... unfortunately there are no strategies I know of that can easily beat someone with completely unpredictable (and silly) moves
Actually there is such a strategy. It is not a move-by-move strategy but rather a list of principles that if adhered to will grant you victory against non-competent players: 1: Control the center (e4, d4, e5, d5) 2: Develop all your pieces quickly (preferably in this order knights, bishops, queen and rooks) 3: Castle early 4: Keep all your pieces protected 5: Capture pieces (win material) when possible (use the basic tactics forks, pins and discoveries for this) 6: Trade down when ahead in material (unless doing so gives you some specific tactical problems) 7: When you then get to an endgame you will have more pieces on the board than your opponent and can therefore safely (although you must always look out for tactics) push your pawns to the back rank, promote them to queens and checkmate easily.
If you wonder what the whole Deployment Auto-Chess thing at the end of the video is all about, you can watch this video that explains everything: ruclips.net/video/DERLP1w0Hyg/видео.html
On vacation right now and have been struggling to sleep in the new bed. No more struggling tonight.
Understandable👍
well, how did it go? did you sleep well that night? How was your vacation? Where did you go? Were you able to sleep the next night too? Did you use a diffuser video or rewatch this one?
Are you back from vacation?
😂 😂
Great video, thank you for the great content!
Thank you very much for the support!
Scotch gambits been my bread and butter for multiple years, excited to see you talk about it!
By the way, there is a common line in the scotch that even experts get tripped up on:
1 e4 e5
2 nf3 nc6
3 d4 xd4
4 bc4 nf6
5 e5 d5
6 bb5 ne4
7 nxd4 bd7
8 bxc6 xc6
9 0-0 bc4
10 f3 ng5
11 f4 ne4
12 be3
Everyone makes the mistake 12... 0-0, but this is actually a big mistake:
13 nd2 nxd2
14 qxd2 bb6
15 nb3 and you control the crucial c5 square (once you get your knight to c5, you are pushing for a win)
Sorry for all this theory dumping, but memorizing this one line can help you beat even expert players! Happy scotch gambit-ing!
Wow that is a super cool and useful line!

I really would love to see more of these kind of videos from you, ASMR Chess❤
I love the editing you just added into your videos
Love your instructional videos. I add every time a new opening to my basic knowledge, thanks a lot!
Please make a video about the Hippopotamus Defense next, it's so underrated.
The first quote I think of when I think of the scotch opening: "Daniel Naroditsky is a f***ing prophet" - Charlie "penguinz0" White
Yay new opening video! These and tal videos are the best
I love the opening videos. I often come back to them to study. Also helps me feel a bit better about staying up watching RUclips, cause I feel like I’m learning :)
I'm going to have to try this in a future game!
Thank you, ive always wanted to see a video about the scotch gambit 🙌 can you do the evans gambit next? (One of Kasparovs favorites back then)
I asked for this video about 2 weeks ago, thanks for actually making it!
I'll watch this as many times as it takes, nit it will be memorized!
One of the better more secure good gambits and the good asmr on top
Not only did I easily fall asleep last night, but the next day I tested out the gambit and actually won games with it! Thank you asmr chess ❤️
Been waiting for this!! My opening (600 Elo obvs)
Your videos are getting better and better, i rly wish you posted more often
If my following on patreon was bigger I would be able to work more on the channel. I would really like to be able to publish a new video twice each week.

really like this one, easy to remember and understand

Very good video, but i love to see how u move the pieces yourself haha
😅😅😊 to me the Scottish Gambit turns into The Bishop's opening which I love already it's my favorite opening
Relaxing content, nice.
please make the chess formation thing a regular event, that would be awesome
I’m working on the video on round 3 ATM
what if in the beginning black retook the pawn with the knight instead of the pawn please?

i try it on lichess vs computer best level the computer always make other moves then u show !! i think that only works vs bad players right ?
So nice! Thank you

I don’t play SCII no, so I don’t think I’d be able to make a video on it. Great callback though! That video is almost a decade old!
What are the board dimensions?
Good vid
Thank you!
On the 2nd variation, isn't that a "en-pasant" move?

your videos are great!!!! dw about views soon one of your videos will blow up like so many before :)
Sleepy Time "Mato" ....

I guessed bishop to c4 and felt so smart I don’t know anything about chess
when is a london video coming?
Commenting just to say that shit you pulled 10 seconds in was too smooth, excellent video as always
