Tom Baker's Doctor had one of the longest running Doctor in the show back then. The stories were generally very good and well acted with lots of characters shown. The Doctor shown many emotions but was known to be witty and funny, balanced well against the sternness that sometimes showed up depending on the situation. Many of the Classic adventures and companions appeared during Tom Baker's era... Sarah Jane, Romana, Leela, K-9, Nyssa, etc...
I'm a huge Tom Baker fan and I especially love his first 3 seasons when the tone of the show was darker and the stories, IMO, were a lot stronger. Season 13 for me ranks as one of the best seasons ever for Dr Who.
Favourite Fourth Doctor Story: Genesis Of Daleks Favourite Fourth Doctor Moment: "I'll kill this man with this deadly jelly baby" (The Face Of Evil) Favourite Companion: Sarah Jane Smith Favourite Foe/Monster: Davros
My favorite fourth Doctor moment is "Oh look rocks"

The 4th Doctor is my favorite out of the doctors in the series i'll never forget watching classic doctor who as a kid (6 years old) keep up the good work :)
Tom Baker was my Dr. and as a teenager I loved the wit and humor of the Dr. It brings back happy times tinkling about those days, and I truly enjoyed seeing him again in the 50th anniversary as the museum art curator. Thanks for posting this.
I remember a scene from the Tom Baker years in which the Doctor walks past 'people playing squash' on a blue screen. He apologises to the players for disturbing their game, but they just keep on playing.
“The genesis of the Daleks” was one of the first VHS box sets I bought. Got it at a comic book store. Since then I’ve bought a ton more VHS and DVD. Unfortunately I no longer have a player for either format. I can put them into my computer and computer and convert them but I’m lazy and yout7be has most of it I’d like to visit that comic shop again but I’m getting old. In my youth I was crazy, my criminal record was 13 pages with like 7 charges per page. Fortunately I cooled down and had them all expunged. It cost a lot but now I’m in the clear. It’s still a long drive to get back to that comic store… I’m buying everyone thing online now
Very nice work putting your video together. I enjoyed your in-depth review of this era of the series. Tom Baker remains my favorite incarnation of the role. Started watching the show with "Pyramids of Mars" on PBS in the early 80s and continued to follow as a viewer right up to this day. As a horror fan, I really do like the gothic horror period quite a bit and liked the TARDIS interior design for the 14th season giving it a gothic atmosphere.
The key to time was like 6 dvds if in not mistaken Tom is the best. I’ve only ever bought Tom Baker vids I saw him do a interview where he said he was completely drunken the whole time. I’d have never have guessed it because he’s such a badass actor. I love that guy
My FAVORITE Doctor!!! SO can't wait for the Fourth Doctor's first season collection to come out on BluRay...even though I have all but one of the stories, it will be cheaper than trying to get a copy of Revenge of the Cybermen on DVD here in the States :P Great vid! LOVE K-9 and Sarah Jane...and I have a tie for my favorite story...Genesis of the Daleks and Shada (haven't seen the new release of that one...it's not out yet here).
I think my favorite 4th Doctor moment has to be in The Talons of Weng-Chiang when The Doctor volunteers to assist Li H'sen Chang in a stage trick, Chang points a gun at the doctor holding a card attempting to shoot a hole in the center. The Doctor moves the card in front of his face, as if to say "I won't be frightened off".
He’s done interviews where he said he was completely drunk the entire time. I just ordered 3 packs of “jelly babies” btw. I’ve never had a jelly baby but I assume they’re similar to “sour patch kids”
This was my doctor as well as per my pbs Dr Who disappearing TARDIS coffee cup😂 The doctor after him was very decent as well played by Peter Davison. Next favorite would be a tie between 9 Ecleson and 12 Capaldi Ecleson for his "fantastic" reviving the series, and Capaldi for "heaven sent" (the greatest Who series/episode of all time)
Tom was awesome as the Doctor !! The others are all good, but Tom was a genius !! We still have an original scarf from 1982 !! Part of his popularity was because he acted and looked like Harpo Marx lol. Brought the Mark Brothers humor with him then added in the frosting of Toms own humor. Resulting is a well balanced character that could easily relate to a larger audience. His smile was bonus along with quick jokes that usually caught us all off guard 😂….Oh well time goes on, nowadays Dr. Who is no where near as popular. Mostly because the writers are slipping on their quality over quantity. The jury is still out on using a female Doctor, the answer in doing this we shall see soon. I guess the next move would be either a Black Doctor, a Mexican Doctor, a Chinese Doctor or even a Witch Doctor !! lol. If it is not broke, do not try and fix it !! Did they forget how to do surveys with the fan club ? This way the audience gets what they want, you can explore new ideas this way, without upsetting the main fan base !! Remember, these are the people who are paying everyone’s salaries 👍🏻 The sponsors cannot sell products if no one is watching this show ! Pay attention to the fans, then the customers who are buying the products of the sponsors !! This way everyone is happy, people who are watching are now buying the products shown, so then the sponsors are making money, the staff is making money, the actors are making money, the spouses are happy with money coming in, it turns into a big win win show making money $$ and the rest is history of who’s turn is it to go to the bank 🏦 lol.
The definite article you might say. Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were frankly superb in the role, especially when following William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton. Stories now are too rushed and give no time for the brain to work out what could happen next.
Just so you know about halfway through ker-plop with Whitaker doing whatever the Hell she's doing I started watching classic Doctor Who featuring Tom Baker
Nice overview of IMHO the greatest era of the series. I am guessing you have only read about The Keeper of Traken. Tremas is pronounced "Tree mass" and Traken -"Trar Ken". A small niggle but a good video.
Favourite story the robots of death Favourite moment I will break your nose if you don't get up (the face of evil) Favourite campanion Romana 2 K9 Favourite costume season 13 to 14 look favourite season season 14

(who's your doctor)Why it's Tom Baker of course . He was the first one that I had the privilege of seeing on PBS 📺
I'm a huge Tom Baker fan and I especially love his first 3 seasons when the tone of the show was darker and the stories, IMO, were a lot stronger. Season 13 for me ranks as one of the best seasons ever for Dr Who.
Yes! The Philip Hinchcliff/ Bob Holmes era definitely had that Gothic horror vibe. This was the peak of the 70s golden age.

Love your videos, but you REALLY need better audio.
Thanks. Yeah the audio is something I need to work on, I'm planning on getting better recording equipment soon :)
Thank you for the feedback :)
Again, a brilliant overview. The Doctor I grew up with and my favourite one. Favourite stories : Genesis of the Daleks and The Talons of Weng-Chiang.
I remember a scene from the Tom Baker years in which the Doctor walks past 'people playing squash' on a blue screen. He apologises to the players for disturbing their game, but they just keep on playing.
A bit late, but that'll be the leisure hive, notorious for being one of the shitiest Tom Baker Stories up there with Power of kroll and underworld.
Do you still plan on continuing this series? I certainly hope so since it is very interesting.
Would you like a jelly baby

Great summary...nice work! :-)
To me , The 4th Doctor is THE Doctor , the definite article .
4 , 11 and 12 were the most alien of the lot. When 11 came alone he reminded me of 4.
He’s my favourite! :)
He’s done interviews where he said he was completely drunk the entire time. I just ordered 3 packs of “jelly babies” btw. I’ve never had a jelly baby but I assume they’re similar to “sour patch kids”

@@victorsamuleson9505 I could have predicted your response, purely by looking at your pompous name.
Can i ask you who made the theme version you used in the video opening?
Thank you for this!
Grew up watching this Dr😁

Actually Sylvester McCoy was shit!
Puppy 1975, he was good he is just underrrrrrrrrated(get it cuz i rolled the r's hehe)
Creamy peanut butter jelly guy Tom Baker was my favourite.
Puppy 1975: No, he wasn't. He was by far better than Davison and Colin Baker. And if they hadn't cancelled the show in 1989, there would have been quite some nice dark episodes like The Curse of Fenric.
@@darlingentertainment5571 wrong, big finish started march 1999 with 5th 6th and 7th. though 4th joined in 2006 13 years and still going!
I fell asleep after 2 minutes. Couldn't you liven it up with some action, not just photos and Stephen Hawking-like commentary.
