Akito the exiled is a masterpiece, best side story to anything I have seen and the fact it inspired the entire story, plot, characters, etc of 86 and it blew up shows its impact.
I liked Exiled for the most part and Akito and Leila were great. Aside from Charles, Jeremiah, and Schneizel I could care less about Mao and Geass's other villains cause they felt incredibly one to me but Shin(Akito's brother) I thought was a great villain and it's a shame he wasn't in R1/R2 cause I would've loved to see him interact with Lelouch. Good luck on R3 when you get to it man.
Mao was tragic. He power drive him mad and turned him into a psychotic criminal. He was also in love with CC but it was unrequited. He caused more damage to lelouch than Charles ever did. He was not bloody one note.
Tao Jones T.jones The problem I had with Mao is that he was was only in the show for 3 episodes and didn’t have enough time to get fleshed out as a villain. I agree with you on his past and how it drove him insane but considering how’s he’s connected to C2 I expected him to play a bigger role in the story and he came off as a throwaway character when he was killed off. I don’t hate Mao I just think he was missed potential.
Just a heads up the new movie is not canon to the main show but to the recap movies which aren't worth watching imo since they change very little and skip so much characterization/plotlines but has one big change which you can look up.
You were a bit too harsh, but not unreasonable. I thought the writing was okay. Maybe not what some hardcore fans expected, so I don't blame you too much. Yet I found it alright myself, because my own expectations for a short side story were limited in scope by default. We learn the cast motivations throughout the rest of the first episode. I wasn't bored at all and didn't feel dizzy with the 3D mecha. This ends up being a matter of personal taste. I don't know what we'd all gain out of further debating this here, but I had to be honest by expressing my dissent.
I never got an opportunity to watch Alito the Exiled. I wanted to to just see Lelouch but I was told I wasn’t missing much. Can’t wait to see you comment on the movie though. Have a felling you’re gonna complain about it. I’d imagine you’re not happy with the changes to the original series. But I’d love to hear your thoughts anyway.
Being the fact that Code Geass is my all time favorite anime, I just could not bring my self to keep watching this. No matter how much I told my self that it is Code Geass so there might be something that you need for lore or something I just couldn't sit here for how ever long it would take with every damn ep being over 50 mins i think like wtf lol.
I actually liked the show very much, but you do make valid points. My only gripes are that episode five is very uneven and feels rushed ( particularly because it was added at the last moment due to fan popularity) and the cosmic geass stuff made no sense this go around. Shin just spontaneously got a geass???? But everyone else has a reason they got theirs. Leila got her partial geass thing as a gift from cc, akito was geassed by his brother and is now kinda crazy . Shin is a charismatic and interesting villain with a semi weird backstory and an unclear motive. His dad was a dick so everyone is better off dead? Does that make since to anyone? He’s a great character but his weak motivation nearly undoes him. His interactions with Akito are interesting though. I also liked seeing what lelouch and Suzuku and Rollo were up too between seasons. But my favorite part of this series is that it isn’t necessary, if you don’t like it it takes no this way from the enjoyment of the first series and if you do it’s a fun add on with interesting main characters. I liked Akito and Leila as characters great. And how they were similar to lelouch and Suzuku: Leila is a brilliant tactician a modestly skilled pilot and charismatic leader, but unlike lelouch she is poor at chores , a capable unarmed fighter, and unwilling to needlessly sacrifice others. Akito is like Suzuku in that the two are Japanese working for a foreign military, experts fighters in Knightmares and with their hands, have been given geass commands, uses a cool knightmare Frame that Gets upgraded often and fall in love with a superior. Unlike Suzuku Akito is a bit amoral, ruthless from the start, a capable tactician and gets to lead a happy life after his military service. Akito is probably my favorite character in the series after Lelouch.
I actually really liked Akito the exiled. How ever I completely agree that the story is the shows worst element. ( they were constantly shifting from some geopolitical conflict to a mystical geass goddess interfering in human affairs because Lila is such a good person) I actually liked all the characters for this show, and that’s the main reason I enjoyed it. I also think the animation was fun( though I agree the constant repositions were annoying.) my only complaint about this review are nitpicks ( Akito was like Suzaku in the sense he was unwillingly geassed, but he was to young to comprehend what he was ordered to do, so the geass didn’t kick in. When he was old enough to understand it it drove him a little crazy and it helps him go berserk. Lila has a geass that is poorly explained. The terrorists turning on her after saving them was to show her inexperience and her idealism. And the Japanese were sectioned Of into ghettos, not concentration camps. The difference is that the ghettos are shitty parts of town they aren’t allowed to leave. Concentration camps just kill them all. ) want to be clear that I know this are nitpicking and this review was very good. I really enjoyed it because it was nice to revisit the world of code geass without it effecting the series main plot, you could never watch this and not be effected, and the reverse is true. I feel like the creators expected people to watch this because they’d already watched the main series. But for people who hadn’t they threw in the boring documentary opening. I feel you were a little harsh, but as whole you pointed out the flaws in the show well.
You might expect me to bash this review like I did your other ones, but for this one I kinda have to agree…… to an extent. Honestly I think this would’ve been better had it JUST been the new characters because the stuff with Lelouch honestly hurt the show. So Charles’ first plan with wiling Lelouch’s memories was to make Lelouch this evil political figure? What? Huh? It just feels like Lelocuh was included solely because of fanservice because no one would watch a Code Geass anime that doesn’t have Lelouch, so they added him in at the last minute just to throw a bone to the fans. I especially since he plays next to no real part in the story. Making it extra confusing in why he’s even here. Again, it’s just pointless fan service. You could easily take all of Lelouch’s scenes out and the show would pretty much be the same. Everything else though I really liked. As a side story it’s pretty great. Had they just removed the Lelouch stuff and given Shin better motives than just “my dad was an asshole so everyone needs to die” than I’d say it was on par with the TV series
*insert "please review Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Rebellion" comments here* Don't think he wants to review it considering how much he loved the ending of the series.
Actually, I really liked it. It was a full embracing of Homura’s true character, and I deeply appreciated it as someone who didn’t like her in the original series
Ali Brennan I’m of the opinion that it doesn’t need to be. It was shown that Homura was trying to restrain Madoka’s power, so if she ever gets it back, then it’s obvious what would happen. It seemed to borrow heavily from Paradise Lost, and begs the debate of which ending is truly the happier one once a person thinks about it. I personally think it’s more interesting than the original series’ ending, but that’s just my opinion, of course 😊👌🏻
Attack on Titan season three will be an interesting review, and explains why they always focused on how awful humans can be. Same for sword art online alicization.
Where you too harsh? No, if creators want to add new instalments to an already finished series, especially one that, lets face it, could have really been an original thing. Then they need to put in the effort.
Ok it's not a follow up it's supposed to be a series set between the first and second seasons, not a bad move. Akito doesn't have a Geass! He was Geassed by his brother similar to how Suzaku was by Lelouch. Britannia wants to control the world....HOW DID YOU MISS THAT IN THE FIRST SERIES?! If you hated this you're gonna stroke when the ACTUAL sequel film/series drops
Another one to avoid. I loved the original show. I never even heard of this until now & think I will avoid it. I did just finished watching one of the scariest anime & the most suspenseful anime I have ever seen. Each episode ends in a cliffhanger. It only has 1 season but season 2 is supposed to come out next year. It is only 12 episodes & I watched all 12 in one day. After each episode ended I had to keep going to see how it gets resolved. The show? The Promised Neverland. Great concept that I have never seen in any other anime (probably is I just never seen one) & the 2 main villains are 2 of the creepiest people I have ever seen. I sat through Higurashi, Another, Future Diary, & Diarnonpa without batting an eye. Yes they have some really creepy charaters, but these to villains just scared the shit out of me. I recommend it if someone hasn't already.

Do you plan on reviewing the movie trilogy and Resurrection? There are noticable differences between the movies and the show.

Good idea👍

I’d love to hear your thoughts on Rwby volume 5 and 6.
I thought it was alright. Definitly not as good as the main show but I liked the worldbuilding it added and some of the characters.
I still think they could've done a better job at it though, the relationships between akito and shaing was very rushed
Can you review no game no life Zero? its a movie prequel of the show
I am so glad I’m not the only one who thought of the Bayformers comparison. Those fight scenes were so hard to watch.
First episode and most of the second episode were pretty good

The best thing out of this OVA? The lore, thats it really. I loved the Euripia United vs Euro Britannia shit.
I would pay money to see you debate Daniel Santos on Geass
Violet evergarden , sword of the stranger film, and wolf children are all awesome and the only rivals I’ve seen for Code geass and attack on Titan.
Your back!
Ok , now review Rokka No yuusha and Maoyuu Maou Yuusha.
Wow I just have watched Code Geass Akito the Exiled again, just to see wtf they did to Lelouch, that is not lelouch at all.
That’s the whole point...
