OMG THIS ENTIRE SHOW. I remember when I played for Hinds community college Eagle Marching band (Raymond, Ms) in 2008 we played this show. I was blown away away with the El Toro opener
Same! I was blown away when I first heard this (didn't see the video for a while), and I didn't know what DCI was at the time. Luckily, the Brandt Crocker announcement at the beginning helped me to be able to discover DCI and more of the Madison Scouts and then the other corps. I'll never forget my first live show in 2005, and I got to see the Madison Scouts there luckily.
@@clevelandmoore9423 If this is your first exposure to drum corps, that was a great year. Madison was in 4th and they coulda been the champs. If you haven’t seen em yet, look up Blue Devils, Cadets of Bergen County, and Cavaliers all from 1995. Those are all DCI defining shows.
Fun fact, the Madison Scouts used to be one of only 2 all-male drum corps up until 2021 when they became co-ed/gender inclusive the other corps that's still all-male today is called the Cavliers
Mid-90’s Madison Scouts were amazing!! They weren’t the cleanest for the judge sheets but they were aggressive took risks and had the crowd in awe more than anyone else. Raw power! They were ‘06 Texas Southern lol pure smoke
Loved your reaction! To this day, I hear the opener “El Toro Caliente” from this show being played by college bands in the stands at CFB games. That chart has stood the test of time.
A little FYI, NCAT North Carolina A&T took inspiration from the Maddison Scouts. It was the 2011 Honda Battle of the Bands. And A&T did the same Three-stack company front to the box. It had the same visual power as the Scouts.
@@justinjackson3623 Justin actually it did work. And they got House. Matter of fact that particular performance BOTB was the only time Honda had judging and NCAT won.
If you want to see drum corps shows that look pretty similar to HBCU shows you should check out some from the 70s and early 80s. They used to high-step a lot more
95 Scouts was legit. So much talent across the board. That show was dedicated to fans and crowd appreciate. They gave the fans everything they wanted and more.
It was cool to see you react to this show, it's one of my favorite closers. If you ever want to see some crazy drill/marching, check out Cavaliers 2003, it's known as one of the hardest DCI shows of all time. (obviously up for debate but it's my personal favorite)
Their tone quality and balance when they play those harmonies is A1. Trumpets sound so pure. All those horns then are "bugled" so they pack a mean punch and a lot of volume when they're stacked and everyone is pushing.
Dear God....the power! There's rehearsal footage of a run of this show, and the part where the front starts rotating is very quiet. The crowd response MADE the ending what it was, because without the crowd response as the front rotated and the music built, it suck all the energy away.
That guy at 4:07 is actually the percussion judge! As you saw, he was trying his best not to get run over, because he knows they won't stop or move for them. Today, the field judges are relegated to the front sideline for safety reasons if i remember correctly.
I’m pretty sure they’re off the field because of Crown 2014. A perc judge gave a marchers snare back because he dropped it - safety probably played a role in it too though

Can't decide whether I like modern Carolina Crown or that 90s Scouts sound more. Two amazing brass lines though. This 95 show was the first I ever saw. I finally got to see that Scouts hornline live in 97 :) Also saw Crown live in 2018. I dunno, both are crazy good.
When I saw this live, I had drank a super big gulp of coke and the line for the bathroom was unmanageable. Didn't miss a second, didn't care my drawers were wet either!
Quick suggestion. Search Madison Scouts DCI World Championship show from 1988. GREATEST DCI SHOW OUTRO EVER!! That "Malaguena" they played for their show outro was CRAZY!
it’s not DCI but you should check out the UWEC Blugold Marching Band. One of the largest bands in the country, we’ve done everything from Lizzo (2021) to Classical (also 2021) to Lil Nas X (2022) to Rihanna (2023) and Elton John (also 2023). 400+ players makes for a huge wall of sound. Highly recommend. Forgot to mention, the current Madison Scouts director is on our directing staff here too
@OfficialRogersBros yes MoCity. That era we did ALOT of Cavaliers and Madison Scouts on the field and merged corps style with old TxSU Pumpin n Drivin and su's Knighten arrangements.
I was at that show. '95 was the battle of the Jazz shows between Madison and Blue Devils. But the Cavilers show Planets just could not be beat. Nevertheless, I can tell you Madison was definitely the fan favorite. It was LOUD!!!!! You just had to see if live. The video just doesn't do it justice.
Day 2 of requesting Hebron high school 2021 Unfortunately they took down the multicam video due to copyright reasons but there are still other recordings out there with thousands of views
"not Madison" in the title was put there to prevent the RUclips algorithm from taking down what may be a copyrighted video. Not a criticism of you my friend, it is confusing.
@OfficialRogersBros Yes sir my brother we have to just quit calling them French lol because they are like 5 versions in western music Horn in F,Bb,C,Eb and in concert setting it's a double horn. That's what makes DCI sound so awesome. From Euphoniums, Baritones, Horns ,F Bb, to contrabass AKA tuba
I marched ‘96 Scouts as a lead Soprano. I loved the show and my experience, but it wasn’t a better overall show than ‘95. ‘95 was pure energy top to bottom.

The mid 90's Madison Scouts are hands down my favorite era of any corps in DCI history. This was for the crowd not the judges and I love them for it.
Mid-90’s Scouts are what made me want to march there. ‘93-‘99 were all stellar shows that gave the crowd what they wanted.
@@justinnewberry3900 90-92 shows were also rockstar status!

loud, proud, and pleasing the crowd frfr
You gotta watch madison 96 now, its basically the sequel, with even higher notes, it's all gas

Arguably the most insane and powerful hornline ever! Could have won the dci crown!
I heard a rumor that the crowd had some boos going around when they got 4th. Not sure if that's true lol :)
