    I apologize for my terrible driving. At the time of recording this, I haven't played a kart racer for quite a while so my skills are quite rusty.

    I like how they drastically changed the colors between Android Alley and Electron Avenue for Nitro Fueled. Those two tracks seemed very same-y in terms of colors and design in Nitro Kart, so I really appreciate the variety with the presentation that Beenox went with.

      I hated android alley in Nk, it had a weird mixup of hot and cold colors that did NOT work well together, the red/yellow/blue pallete they went with didn't help.
      But now, they went with clear blue/white colors that give a much more "clean" and cool look to it, i really like what they did.

      This i can definitely agree with. Though I kind of miss seeing the zero gravity on the game too. Would have been nice.

      @@Vdrift16 NK always felt clunky so anti gravity with a tighter feel would've definitely been a cool addition. Though I can see why they opted out of it as it can feel kinda 'floaty' and might disrupt the flow of the game

    I do love the remake but I am annoyed they got rid of the anti-gravity parts of the tracks

      Even though it looks cool, I think it’s for the best:
      1. Nitro fueled’s gameplay is based on the original CTR + the boosting system from nitro kart, so trying to add anti gravity to both the ctr tracks and nitro fueled would’ve been more jarring than anything (yeah Mario kart 8 remixes some classic tracks to have anti gravity, but that game’s entirely new, whereas nitro fueled is a remake)
      2. Unlike Mario kart 8, where the playstyle changed when In anti gravity (ex. bump into players to go faster), nothing much changed in nitro kart except now you’re racing upside down

      They remastered only crash team racing but thay add changed maps from nitro kart and skins from nitro kart and crash tag team racing but i hope they remake crash tag team racing and nitro kart and put it in one game (crash team racing nitro fueled) as they do with crash bandicoot 1, 2, 3

    Gotta say, they addressed CNK's anti-gravity sections really well in Nitro-Fueled. Tracks flow insanely well, you wouldn't even notice the changes.

      I beg to differ, the lack of anti gravity is VERY noticeable if you played the original game. It works in some cases, others make the levels feel too different (e.g. Thunderstruck, and Hyper Spaceway). Im biased tho, i preferred the tracks with the anti gravity.

      @@ThundagaT2 I did play the game but didn't really enjoy it as much as CNK and the one track I remembered there being an anti gravity section on was Out of Time, which while admittedly is the least altered really was still enough for me to go "Oh I must be misremembering" the only other place I really thought was different was Hyper Spaceway, which I remembered as longer.
      But yeah I think its posisble to replay em and not realise, in my case its just it didn't leave a memorable impression and as such my memories were vague enough for me to not realise.

      @Jack Bat Sony just bought Insomniac. Crash and Spyro are connected. Spyro was made by Insomniac. There's a 70% they'll add Ratchet, with Clank's helipack for his trick jump animation.

    I like how they breathed new life into some of the tracks. For example Meteor Gorge in NF looks like there's still work being done there, but in the original it looks as if it was shut down years ago. The hairpin in Out of time looks like it went into stasis, Android Alley looking like a dystopian future until it modernized in NF. Shits great.

    I love the clock hairpin on Out of Time in CNK with the clock hands moving above you as you drive. But they did a great job with the repurposing of the tracks to fit CTRNF. In fact they did a great job for all the CNK tracks.

      @@Bahraini_Carguy I gotta say though, the handling seems a bit off. I can play the original and blast through the whole track without making any mistakes. I seem to make more in NF. And we can't drive on the walls of sewer speedway like we did in the original.

    The space noodle part in Hyper Spaceway 17:49 was always my favorite part of the track in the original CNK.

    Electron Avenue was my favorite track and CTRNF just made it so much better. I LOVE IT!!!

      I'm kinda glad. In online nobody wants to play Electron Avenue because it's so long. Some newbies can clock up to 4 minutes in Hyper Spaceway short as it is, and the part that was cut was just some twist and a jump, so I don't feel anything of value was lost.

      The difference between Hyper Spaceway and N64 Rainbow Road is that the former is actually fun to play in its entirety, whereas the latter is so dull that only doing one lap is an improvement.

    It's still saddening to see the anti-gravity removed. That was my favorite part of CNK. NF could've done the same thing MK8 did and it would've ran just fine.

    I kind of miss the look and feel of the original Android Alley. But as a trade-off, I do love the new Electron Avenue

      For sure nostalgia is good and they looked good back then. Like for instance I'm really partial to tiny tigers orange color from the older racing games they made him a bit darker to not be the same color as papu and crash. But all in all these games are perfect ways of taking our past and bringing it to the future. they just need to work on online a bit

      @@mudshrooze I mean, you can't really say it's for sure nostalgia, maybe he really genuinely does actually think it looks more aesthetic.
      Like me, i think the orange sky and yellow road with neon signs gives it more of a feel you are in another planet, cause you know, it *is* another planet.
      I like the air vehicles and new buildings tho, that was much better than the weird looking buildings they had before.
      Really wish they did not do away with the magnetic segments, i miss that, it was so creative!

      never played nitro kart, but watching this vid made me have....mixed feelings. the redesign is great and i'm surprised how much re-working the beenox team did to make these courses to have the original ctr feel

      My only clue they had change dthe tracks at all was that and Out of Time, shows how much a lack of an impression CNK made on me xD, especially when you consider I was CTR mad and was watching the remakes physics etc fairly closely

      hyper spaceway needed alot of reworking. i would say they should make an Ultra Hyper Spaceway and return the section that got cut. i played cnk recently and the camera placement makes driving an absolute pain. i can barely see anything sometimes.

    Thanks for making this video. It was really useful to see the two versions side-by-side rather than having to watch footage of both in seperate tabs.
    One thing though, the second new segment in Electron Avenue actually is the one at 15:41 to 15:51, whereas the part of the footage where you paused the CNK version at was the actual matching segment.

    Oh man... I’m suddenly very nostalgic for the old Android Alley. It used to be my favorite track but I don’t like it as much in CTR:NF... now I can pinpoint why. I miss those anti gravity sections and the colour scheme

      They worked very poorly in the original. I was excited to see them redone in NF, but alas... Though they did a fantastic job making up for them.

      I feel they were sometimes filler eg Android alley where you’re on a road with buildings around and robots as obstacles and then a generic blue platform which in my opinion was forced. Sometimes it worked really well eg on Thunderstruck (it suffered from the anti grav removal in NF)

      @@ClutchX3_ I am pretty sure that if they kept the anti gravity it would not be as sludgy. Probably could do what mk8 did and it would flow fine. This game is real fun and I have so many gameplay video it is just that fun.

    I can see why they made these changes. If they were gonna have it be a remake of the original game and its adventure mode, why would they spend a bunch of time implementing a mechanic where only half the maps will have it?
    I think they did a good job redesigning the zero grav zones. Nice work to beenox

    Only track I really have kind of a complain on with the change is Hyper Speedway. It just seems weird without that entire one section and appears that it could of been added in without the the antigrav and still be fine. I mean it doesn't seem like the karts ever go upside down or to far up an angle to make it to far fetched to do with regular tires. Other then that I think most of the changes to adapt the tracks to have no antigrav sections worked out really well. Now if only N. Oxide Time Trial wasn't such a pain on Tiny Temple.

      @@a.wosaibi Can't throw them but it means you can keep the shield and still use powerups you pick up. So I'd argue the benefit outweighs the loss there. Though I'd also say that puts it toward being a little too strong. Just a little.

    Out of Time was my favourite track from CNK. Even though they changed the anti-gravity part on the clock (one of the best parts for me), I still enjoy it, even if it can be a difficult track sometimes.

    I kinda wish they could have added some of the Nitro Kart items to Nitro Fueled. Even if they had to be reskins of CTR items. Like say instead of the Orb, you get the Tornado when racing on Nitro Kart Tracks instead. Both items would work the same, just look and sound different.

    The sound design for Nitro Kart was awful. The engine sound isn’t nearly as satisfying and the bounce sound just made it sound goofy. And the gameplay wasn’t nearly as fun with how the boost system worked.

      In my opinion if you compare solid controls:
      CTR > nitro fueled > CNK
      In nitro fueled I do love the way you keep blue fire without (unintended?) tricks and how you fly through the air with it but sometimes the physics are off and collision system is worse than in the original. And sadly some tricks like power sliding and jumping at the same time with buffering input are removed from nitro fueled. Although the nitro fueled engine sounds are amazing I still slightly prefer the CTR sounds.
      CNK... Eww

    Its so blatantly obvious that Nitro Fueled is a much faster game to play. You can achieve unprecedented amounts of speed to where it's actually pretty hard to control with how fast you're going.

      You should try beating velo ghosts in cnk its wayyy more challenging than any oxide ghosts in both ctr and ctrnf, and if u cant, atleast watch some vids of people doing it. Anyone who has beat all velo ghosts in cnk has my respect as a kick ass cnk champ, my dude these ghosts are very fast paced and no joke just sayin

      @@jonyleche3549 Velo ghosts were easy, what do you mean? Oxide is much harder. Beating all Velo ghosts unlocked Velo so they couldn't make him too hard. I was very not good at keeping reserves then either (cause I didnt know about them). In Nitro Fueled, Digital N. Tropy is an optional skin, so they kept Oxide the same difficulty. I have lots of trouble on Oxide, but had little problem with Velo.

      @@XenoWars Actually Velo was unlocked by beating adventure mode 100% with both teams. Nothing to do with Time Trials.

    That clock hairpin in CNK was so badass. And the way the clock stood out so prominently in the tracks design. It was just so cool. Sad that they didn't keep that. I just remember getting to the clock and being like, the clock is part of the track???

      CNK was never slow, is the camera that is too close to the kart that gives you that feel. If you play the Xbox version or use widescreen hacks in the PS2 and Gamecube you would notice that the karts were pretty fast.

    Every track is better in Nitro fueled. I'm so glad they took the time to improve the looks and mechanics of every track instead of just adding them to the game. CTRNF is the most entertaining game I've played in years.

      Well I mostly agree but they only thing that isn’t better is the fact they got rid of the Anti Gravity mechanic, that kinda ruins the CNK tracks a little bit. That’s like if Mario Kart 9 had Mario Kart 8’s tracks but they removed the Anti Gravity mechanic that was part of ALL the track layouts in that game. If Mario Kart 8 used CNK’s anti gravity mechanic, then NF should’ve done what MK8 did with the retro tracks and implement the Anti Gravity onto CTR’s tracks while leaving CNK’s layouts the same with the anti gravity but with the graphical upgrades.

    There's two things in the overall design that speak volumes about the creative team's genuis and hard work.
    1. By making 2 design changes on Inferno Island, the team are able to circumvent the question of where all the CNK tracks come from since they weren't able to include the CNK story and explains it for those who never played it in the first place.
    2. I didn't even register that Anti-Gravity wasn't in the CNK remakes until I got up to Out of Time, since driving up and around the clock face was such a big thing in the loading screens and even made it into Phenomena's hub.

    Not a fan of how Hyper Spaceway was changed, and it's not just the missing parts of the track but also the look of the track. The change in looks in Android Alley to a cleaner, sleeker look makes sense because it reflects Geary's perfectionistic neat-freak attitude. The change in color from Velo's Purple and Green to Orange and Blue however don't make sense at all.

      I belive they removed the worms because they don't have their models for the game. You know, they reutilized the plants made for N Sane Trilogy for Papu-Papu Piramid. So, maybe have the trouble to model, animate and programing such a small part of the track was a bit out of question, if you consider all the work they already have making all Nitro Kart tracks.

I think is something they tought it would be more worth to have for showing more of what makes CNK tracks specials besides de antigravity

    Like in a way all the ways nitro kart tried to shove in the slow magnet modes, dont really do much for the tracks. I mean they changed a few things in nitro feuled but mechanically and visually just look and feel better in the remake. Without feeling like really messy gimmicks.

      TOTALLY. Never ended up playing CTR as a kid...but having all my childhood tracks with the EXCELLENT feel and speed on CTR is just awesome. Love this game to pieces.

I had a ps1 game where the complete game was magnet racing and in between parts with anti gravity where u needed to press a specific button to activate your magnets so you could stick to the surface. If you did not you would get a error kinda feel and loose all your speed. Forgot the name tho

      That's not really the case, though... MK8 wasn't the first to do it, but then again, _Crash Nitro Kart_ wasn't _really_ the first to do it anyways- for sure not in media as a whole, but in video games specifically is what I'm talking about. Really, CNK did it very, _very_ poorly- so while it was done sooner in CNK than MK8, it wasn't good, just the concept was. Also, what a pedantic argument that no one cares about. To say *"steal",* as though literally no one is allowed to use the overly broad concept in video games after one group does it, even if it's done way better- is just fucking stupid. Really now?
      Fuck it, if we _really_ want to do this, then what about Wipeout? The game came out over 8 years prior... Sure, it's not quite the same, but it's still "anti-gravity", so it's not _that_ different is it? Are you talking about how the wheels rotate and give off hover functionality? Well, Motor Mayhem did it a year and a half sooner, so CNK doesn't even have that...
      Now you get why I say that it's pedantic. The only thing that CNK _might_ have done originally in video games, was the fact that Motor Mayhem didn't allow you to stick to tracks, just hover (not that you had tracks in that game), whereas CNK did stick to a track and that's really it... So to say MK8 _stole_ the mechanic, yet CNK didn't exactly "invent" it to begin with, it's just moronic. MK8 made changes to how it worked anyways, very much for the better. Unless you mean the theme specifically, rather than the mechanics, in which that's even sadder- I don't even know how many people remember it outside of, "oh, yeah, Nitro Kart _did_ have anti-gravity, I completely forgot!"
      I'm just confused by the amount of times that I've seen the "Mario Kart _stole_ the anti-gravity theme/mechanic from Nitro Kart!", even though that's kind of just false and an overall pointless argument to have, because it would lose 100% of the time. I'm not making the argument that Vicarious Visions _actually_ stole from Nintendo or vice versa (because I don't think either is true and don't get why it's ever made), but just that CNK didn't do it first, that's it. And this is coming from someone who, while I love the Mario Kart series for the most part, I much preferred CTR- even Nitro Fueled over MK8. It's just my kind of game.
      TL;DR: Any bit of the "anti-gravity" theme that CNK might have done first is so small that you could just say that the game _also_ stole it, if you were to make an augment out of it.
      Fun-fact: Vicarious Visions, the developers of Nitro Kart, actually made N-sane trilogy, the remakes to the original games by Naughty Dog, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

      @@jangaman7823 There was also the two Rollcage games on ps1. But there it wasnt anti gravity, it was just the cars moved so fast that gravity wasnt an issue unless you slowed down. Even so anti gravity sections in racing games still remind me of Rollcage. It was the first racing game i ever played where you could drive on the ceiling of tunnels.

    There were way too many tracks in CNK that were just like the developers took the themes from CTR and just made new tracks with them. We really lucked out with Beenox in charge of CTR:NF - I'd say the ones that were a little too derivative they have added some great twists, like Inferno Island being a night time track now, sure the CNK version was a Crash Cove ripoff, but now it's like an after hours version and it's great. The only gripe is the shortening of Hyper Spaceway, but it is what it is.

    I wish you'd kept the characters consistent. Like the first examples both features Crash and Cortex respectively. But after that I began seeing odd characters. Also I do miss anti-gravity being on some tracks.

    I have to give Beenox so muxh props for their detailing. I mean, just look at the ground they race on. The paved roads on Out of Time aren't so smooth and clean like they are in CNK. They added cracks and dirt so that it looks old and worn. I just love that extra effort they put into designing this game.

    It would be a cool if they added a CNK campaign in Nitro Fueled and implemented the Grav mechanics then have the option to race CNK tracks with or without the Grav mechanic

    I feel like the tracks were vastly improved in design and aesthetic. So many segments were either tightened up or given more breathing room, it would be hard to really talk about it all. I would argue the only downgrade between the two games is the removal of an entire segment from Hyper Spaceway.

    Not too fussed about the slightly shortened Android Alley, and Hyper Spaceway is still a damn good track, even without the bits that were removed. They all play better now and look amazing. The reward for the most improved track? Electron Avenue. The bit that was removed just couldn't work without anti-grav, but they added a new section and it looks phenomenal.

    Nitro Kart looks so slow now. I remember the anti-gravity being pretty off as a kid, so I'm happy that Beenox altered these tracks for consistency. I am not quite as pleased with Hyper Spaceway's change aesthetically. It looks empty now, not like a giant sporting event full of nameless Velos, which was what I really liked about it originally.

    After playing the cnf tracks for awhile i noticed they made alot of upgrades. Not just to the visuals and removal of the magnetic segments, but also with making the tracks less absurdly wide and their shortcuts more viable.

    Did anyone else find CNK to be really... slow and kind of awkward? I'm remembering from a long long time ago but that's how I remember it. I never liked it much. I rebought it for GameCube a while ago and the graphics were really fidgetty and it hurt my eyes a lot, so I couldn't play it.

    I find it very amusing how back in the day those GameCube games and older looked fantastic to me, like, I see the remasters and I'm like, "that's exactly how I remember them...", and it isn't until I go back and see the originals that I notice how cringy they actually were lol like that SpongeBob game they're also remaking. But it's very interesting to see how over the years our perception of things change, it's like back in the day we knew technology wasn't capable of more, so despite the graphics not looking very realistic, our brains somehow interpreted that and created "the full" picture in our minds. It's also interesting to know that newer generations get to grow up with a different perception of the world and technology than us, and how they take for granted things like HD graphics, or other stuff like online play, or even if we go to other devices, like the touch screen, smartphones, wireless in general, things that just a few years ago weren't that common or accessible, or even imaginable.

    I never played Nitro Kart but I feel like on most of these the lack of some of the anti gravity sections is somewhat of a loss.
    Especially in Hyper Spaceway, some parts of Electron Avenue, Thunderstruck and Android Alley.
    But overall the tracks look significantly better with the color changes. Inferno Island looks much cooler at night, Electron Avenue looks amazing. Not sure about Android Alley tho. I like both designs but they're so vastly different you might even mistake them for different tracks.
