Rudy, these sketches are the best, ya habibi! I lived several years fi’l Masr when I was a walad sagheer, and it reminds me so much of some people I knew! Except they didn’t use the short form « hmar » but the longer one, « ya homar! » and also « ya 3beet ». I must say that ana uhibb al lugha al 3rabiyya, heyya gameela giddan (aw jameela jiddan). (I use ‘3’ to transcribe the ayn). Shukran ya akhi !

@@reav3rtmdepends on the country probably. I mean, Rudy’s Lebanese, and I think consumption of alcohol is a bit more common in Levantine countries than, say, the Gulf States. I mean, my great-grandfather was a doctor from Syria who apparently advised that his patients drink moderate amounts of alcohol as part of a healthy diet, so yeah.
@@eeyorehaferbock7870 Oh for sure, Lebanon imho is one of least Muslim Arabic states, isn't it? Alcohol ban is Muslim thing iirc.
@@reav3rtm yeah, they’re definitely more secular, and a lot of Lebanese people are Christian (I think it might’ve even been founded for them). As for my great-grandfather, I believe he came from a Sunni Muslim family but ultimately identified as a secular humanist, and I think his recommendation to drink alcohol as part of a healthy diet might’ve applied to ALL his adult patients, including Muslim ones.
