Hi Dale & Karyn! I'm pinching pennies so when I heard you say that 4 kits would run about $100.00, I jumped over to Ebay. You may want to re-check your prices for PIKO kits. On Ebay, a basic kit, not a flat-front, is averaging $55.00 to $65.00 and the more desirable kits are around $125.00 on up. PIKO Flat-Front kits are around $30.00 +/- so my garden railway will wait another year. BTW - Happy New Year!
JUST AN AWESOME JOBYOU BOTH ARE CRAFTSMAN AND SKILLED AT THIS TIME I APPRECIATE YOU BOTH STAY SAFE AND CAREFUL JIM KAMMERER OF PHILADELPHIA PA THANKS AGAIN.
With the different scale it is a little out of place but you guys seem to make everything better. Karen's idea is really cool. Thanks again for your work and sharing with us.
Great show. Your show is number one on my list of favorite one to watch. I also love your intro music. It always makes me happy. Hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Have a blessed New Year.
Dale: Directly at the end; what an abrupt change of pace. It was similar to have been reading a book; setting it down for a moment, and then you lost your place.
Looks good . What the heck I would set it up on a little hill around a curve . with some other things around it . that's just me . Looking forward to seeing the trains running . have a great week Happy New year to both of you
Hi Dale, Greetings from the UK. Thank you for another interesting video; they're really good and have kept me sane through lockdown, although you're a bad influence and I bought an Accucraft K-27 because of you! LOL! Keep up the good work. 🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇸😷👍
They do build up easy. At one point I think they sold a whole set of them as a Western town, I have a set I got from my Uncle. If I can find it I will send you a photo of the cover. I have one of the original Downtown Disney towns kits sets as well, figured that would be my 2 towns when I can get to the "indoor garden" railroad. keep the cool videos coming, love em! Happy Holidays!
Yup. four different buildings. Really the same but with different fronts. And different decals for different sets. the sets sell for about $100. eBay or amazon... A classic set thats been around for about 25 years.
I had the same problem on my building light came through. So I used a interior white primer paint and it the job. It stop the light from coming through. Thanks for the video.
thanks for another nice video. Yes the glue UHU is a great one. Strange name though, so i checked Wikipedia : UHU is the name of an Owl. Funny ! In 1905, August Fischer, a dispensing chemist, purchased a small chemical plant aiming to manufacture inks, rubber stamp pads, paints and adhesives. In 1932, Fischer developed a clear synthetic resin adhesive which displayed the ability to affix any material. Following the custom of the time to name products in the writing goods sector after birds, Fischer named the glue UHU (pronounced "ooo-hoo", though in many English-speaking countries it is said "you-hoo") after Uhu, the onomatopeic German name for the eagle-owl, a bird which at the time could still be found in the Black Forest. May i wish you all a happy new year !
I was just thinking bout your Rotory & how much snow we've had since you'd be hard pressed to find that bldg after that last storm lol well I'm kinda sad in the I won't see you guys till NEXT YEAR Happy New Yr .U2
Oddly I’ve mostly finished the rotary need to paint the OM on the tender. Anyway cleared the snow off the layout before the last storm and it dropped 2 inches of perfect power and the rotary snowplow handled it great!
I know that you did a stand alone video about SCALE, but in a future video could you explain the difference between (for example) 1/4 inch scale and 1/48 scale, when in fact they are actually the SAME scale. If I am correct the difference is ,1/4 inch scale is 1/4 inch equals 1 foot, and 1/48 scale is 1 foot equals 48 feet. It does seem right Am I? You mentioned that the Pico kit is 1/24 scale, so that would convert to 1/2 inch scale, (assuming I am correct) ;-)
My dad and I always spray painted the insides of our buildings flat black so they didn't glow. Never thought of a light blocking tape. But how do you light them? We always stuck them over a low voltage path light (Intermatic Malibu brand) but never were happy with the resulting look.
Depends on the look you want. There are ceramic villages that are quite small. And may work for you. Search Amazon for ceramic Christmas village. I like the retro look. Plasticville kits from the 60s and 50s. Then dress those out with cotton.
@@ToyManTelevision Not to be confused with PECO , the British model railway track and accessories, whos name is also pronounced PEE Co. PECO stands for Pritchard Patent Product Co.
UHU GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer of adhesive products, based in Bühl, Germany. Its company slogan is "Don't say glue, say UHU!". The company logo is yellow with black lettering and in many markets it includes the German phrase: "German: Der Alleskleber". Wikipedia
Technically, G scale is 1:22.5. LOL! I have to say that Piko model looks well below 1:24 to me. OO & HO differ by 0.11 (1:76 vs 1:87) and they're reasonably similar. If the station model is a true 1:22.5, the store looks like 1:32 or 35. I guess Piko's idea is that if you stick with their products, it'll seem OK. Besides, most G-scalers don't appear to be overly concerned that everything is prototypical. Many look like they're operating in an equatorial rain forest with 15 foot wide leaves. You're probably the exception, so you might have to stick with Pola. Time to eBay some more duplicates from the Garagmahal inventory! :)
LOL!!! Yup, and its really an odd scale. Scale? Well lets call it Disneyland scale. Disneyland is 5:8 on all structures and the trains, but only on the first floors. Second floors are about 1:2 scale. Third about 3:8 scale. I keep thinking of how small the second floor would be in this shop. Yet we have been in buildings from the 1800's where you can't stand up on the upper floor. So accurate? No matter... As you say, no scale trees, garden is fun. Not scale. When the trains come inside, well..... THEN!
@@ToyManTelevision yes, if there's more detail, doesn't need to be written but more closer pictures and angles would help. Thanks for listening and I hope you and your family have a Very Happy Safe New Year.
Two things. Could the inside of the buildings be painted an interior color to make it look a bit more realistic and stop the light from showing through?? And two, you have a bit of a glitch at the end of the video. You’re in the middle of a sentence and suddenly Zoink. No bid deal. Just fyi. Keep up the good work.
Yup! We just ended! Oops! But funny I think... We have tried ppaint and it still shows through unless you use about 6 coats. The metal repair tape is great. Also we have "black Wrap". Harder to use. But great for some projects.
As a commenter pointed out, it was (back in the day) the owl sound! First flap your arms. (necessary) then HOO! HOO!. Or in German OOO!! HOO!! (keep flapping)
I thought about buying a few of these but I only want the front facia wall. The side / rear walls and the roof are of no use to me. So they then become very expensive when throwing 80% of the kit back in the box. So, I've decided to scratch build with foam board and I can then scale up a bit at the same time.

Hi I looked on eBay and found 2 sellers offering the 4 shop set, the western street for less than 100. Let me look again...
Hum... Amazon 92.00 The photo shows the set of 4. BUT it says in the description EACH. OOPS Sorry.

Agree with other viewers. Yet another great video. The railroad is coming alone nicely.☑️
Hi Ken. THANKS!!!

We do the audio to the picture. And the picture ended! NOW normally we would go back and redo that. But tis was funny. And cut never cut funny!
Thanks for another video as allways, both of u doing a good job. I can't wait for the complete built of the railroad.🇨🇦🍩☕👍
Thanks!!! Even though we has a squall yesterday, i was out there running the rotary snowplow!! Looking forward to the next section of the railroad.

Wow!!! Thanks for the information. You who is easy to say but I love ooo-hoo! Thanks
There used to be adverts for it on TV here in NZ that went "Don't say boohoo say yoo hoo". Still use, great stuff. Really enjoying the channel
Piko produced this under license from Lehmann/LGB a few years before LGB was bought out by Marklin.

TM- I find that the UHU glue fails after a year or so in the weather. I prefer PIKO FIX. I like the aluminum tape! Keep up the good work
Nice building, maybe some foundations to help with the height...
Yup. That’s the plan.

The trouble with Walthers Cornerstone N Scale instruction sheet is the poor pictures and not giving all the angles to see where things go.

No idea. I think one of the local hobby shops. Probably MRS
Jawohl, Uhu is German for "owl".
