I've been using spicy sausage hook baits on the Trent for nine on 15 years, I always take them with me, total confidence. However I no longer use Korum feeders as they seem to break on the boom.
Korum stuff for me lately has let me down quite a lot. Tbf though I find their river feeders quite good but recently, ive had one of their nets snap on me and ive straightened their specimen hooks on 10lb mainline. Unforgivable that is.
Use a large bait with a hook with lead wire wrapped around the hook shank. Best with meat to be honest. Don’t hair rig. Put a float or ledger stop above your lead. This stops the weed and leaves covering your hook bait. I use 3oz slimline sea fishing in line leads. Keep your line as straight as you can and cast in line to your rod if possible. Don’t fish downstream if possible as the line at an angle to the rod tip will pick up rubbish you don’t want on the line. The more streamlined you can make the rig the more time you spend in the water. If your rod tip is bent round you’re not presenting your bait properly. Just my tuppence worth but it makes sense. Feeders are asking for trouble in my opinion. Cheers!
Brilliant tips, thanks.
