I have done this route, it is a tough, but rewarding walk. You were unlucky with the weather, the views of Scafell, Great Gable and Kirk Fell can be stunning on a clear day !
Nice video of Scafell Pike and great overhead drone shots. I did the walk from Dungeon Ghyll in 2016 which i think also follows part of the Broad Crag segment of this walk. Massive boulder field where you hop from one boulder to another!
That looks like a proper mountain hike. I live in Spain from London and I have walked up Spains highest and second highest at 3479m and 3389m. They don't look that good on the walk. Scafell Pike looks like a great hike.
Via Peirs Gill from Wasdale Head is the best route (but don't tell anyone - it's always quiet before you join the Corridor Route at the top of the Gill!) Oh and your summit point is a bit out on the map - it's nearer Broad Crag than Scafell Pike!!!
Hi Jim, because we were filming it took us a VERY long time - about 13hrs! For planning the route again I'd estimate about 3-4km/h, plus 10mins for every 100m of ascent (add up how many contour lines your route crosses on the map). I'd also add some additional time for descent as the terrain across from Scafell Pike to Grains Gill is rough and rocky and pretty slow unless you're a fell runner. that's just time actually moving - so add some time for breaks, and some contingency time. So...in short...it's quite a long day! I'd guess around 8hrs?
But..but..but.. there is no "W" in Scafell, so how are we poor ignorant people to know, oh wise one? And whatever you do, don't watch this lest you bust a blood vessel: ruclips.net/video/F2C-z9BeSyE/видео.html

With the minor quibble that the Taylorgill Force variation is a more exciting approach to Sty Head, yes, this IS the best walk up Scafell Pike.
A much better day for it than when I attempted it 🤪 Maybe dinosaurs just aren't cut out for climbing? 🤔 🦖
if the weather is poor it's safer to go round the back of Great End and across Ill Crag and onto the Pike

Do you have a gpx file download for this walk?
I think the google image was rotated, corridor route is to the north...?
Hi, great video. Can you remember how long it took you 1. to Scafell pike and 2. the full trek ?

What's the safety route up scafell pike
which route was it again?
Seems hard
Vids are too short ☹️
Stop saying "Scar fell pike!". There's no "R" in Scafell. It's pronounced like "Skawfell Pike"
