Those that can’t afford school lunches are given lunch. And, those families that are receiving the lunches are most likely receiving SNAP benefits. So, technically, these families are double-dipping the system. And taxpayers are tired of it! Why can’t parents make a lunch for their kid that was acquired by the SNAP benefits!!???? It is not the responsibility of a school district to raise the kids!! It’s getting to where the kids will be sleeping at schools!
Retired Social Worker here. SNAP benefits are a fraction of what a family would need for food - especially at current prices. Most people on SNAP are working poor. - even Vets. Studies show hungry kids don't learn. We address it now or as a bigger, more expensive problem later.

The networks, cable news sources, major newspapers, Associated press etc. have dropped all pretense that they’re biased. A cursory viewing earlier this year revealed that all the TV news out of Central Europe and Gaza was shoved aside to make Trump’s NY trial the centerpiece. Reith’s major news source continues to be Mother Jones.
