@@something1351 Yeah, maybe has to do with how serious they take football.
We never did scales, that's just a terrible way to judge skill. We always had 3 pieces, usually 1 very tough, and the tryouts were in a tiny classroom with judges behind a sheet.
I always got so nervous not a single note would come out, though I was always first chair. It was so embarrassing being section leader and never placing at any of the competitions!

That doesn't happen in Illinois lmao most players don't go to these type of events players in the American south tend to be really strong though I would like to think our best guys can probably still stand with your best guys
