This is a serious problem that i think most people give up on . THANK YOU very much - this video really came through and saved months of work. really cannot stress how handy this tutorial can through and saved the day. great job
I don't know what to say ... thank you very much for this simple demonstration ,you know, people like you are rare . I went to websites that tell me to give up and just cry for my life. I can't tell you how happy I am right now. I compressed my files to have more space, and then the archive damaged before I even put it away. thank you from the bottom of my heart.
DAMN SON! I had NO IDEA that Terminal was THIS powerful. Excellent tutorial. My beat up Zip file needed the -FF treatment like yours did and Bingo Zingo! There it is. It recovered 3 hours of MP4 video that I thought was long gone. Thanks!!
I can't believe that Mac let me down so drastically. I used the Mac archiver to make my backups because I had to format my drives from NTFS to a Mac format since I use the drives with both new and older Macs. I have now lost a great number of files which I may not be able to get back because all I get with any archive utility is a "damaged archive" message. Now, with the -FF tag in my Mac Terminal, all it says is, zip warning: skipping signature... zip warning: unexpected signature 50 4b [various numbers] on disk 0 at [various numbers] Thank God I could retrieve the bulk of the files, but it's going to take me a month of Sundays to get them back into their original folders and renamed (since NO recovery tool would give them their proper names back, not even modified ones which were similar to the originals). Thank you for this tutorial! It has helped me with recovering some of what I need--and I know it would have been all if it hadn't been for Mac's archive utility. Take care!!!
Your tutorials are the best for explaining advanced topics. I didn't even know there was a way TO fix archived files until now. One question: What can cause an archived file to break in the first place? If we create a file and test it right away and it works fine, what can go wrong to damage a zip file afterwards, if it was intact when first made?
your video really helped me, but I still have a problem. while in your video appears a final question saying "ins this a single-disk archive?", here, it appears the following message at the end: "zip error: Entry too big to split, read, or write (Poor compression resulted in unexpectedly large entry - try -fz)" I really don't know what to do from now on, but still i'd like to thank you for the video and i'm convinced that my zip folder was generated in linux (it has more than 6GB). :(
Hey man! I keep getting this: zip warning: Missing end (EOCDR) signature - either this archive is not readable or the end is damaged Is this a single-disk archive? (y/n): y Assuming single-disk archive Scanning for entries... zip warning: unexpected signature 50 4b 08 0c on disk 0 at 12927681 Is there a solution for me to overcome this error?
Hi, everything seems to work fine. Until I go to get my pleasework.zip file.. It doesn't seem to appear any where once its all been fixed and copied? any suggestions?? Thanks
Apparently everything worked perfectly. But at the end I got this message: zip I/O error: Bad address zip error: Output file write failure (write error on zip file) brspdtdhjfadx:~ renato.rozenberg$ I understand that is telling me that couldn't find the address to stora the file, but how can i fix it? Is U could help me, I'll pay u beer..somehow! :)
I was successfully able to unzip 5 corrupted files. I still have two left but using terminal after it run though the zip file, I get the following two line message zip I/O error: Bad address zip error: Output file write failure (write error on zip file) Anything else I can do?
I'm having the same issue... Im using my Company's Computer.. and i'm not the administrator.. are you in the same situation? Do u think it can be a kind of "permissions" problems?
I really hoped that this would save my life, but when terminal is finished copying the files I got the following error: zip warning: no end of stream entry found: Also: zip warning: rewinding and scanning for later entries Can anyone pls help? :(
