  • TalentCorp as the strategic think tank for the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), officially launched the Impact Study on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital, and the Green Economy on the Malaysian Workforce - Phase 1, today at MITEC. The report examines how these transformative efforts are reshaping industries, identifies emerging job roles, and highlights the essential skills required for Malaysia’s future workforce.
In line with YAB Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s vision to position Malaysia among the top 20 nations in AI technology, this study
focuses on 10 key sectors-Aerospace, Chemicals, Electrical & Electronics, Energy & Power, Food Manufacturing & Services, Global Business Services, ICT, Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, and Wholesale & Retail Trade-collectively contributed RM933 billion (60%) to Malaysia’s GDP in 2023.
During the launch, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, Minister of KESUMA, emphasised the transformative potential of the study and highlighted the immense opportunities it presents for Malaysian workers. By identifying critical skills and emerging roles, the study helps empower Malaysians to adapt and lead globally, driving sustainable growth and resilience in our workforce.
At the core of this initiative is MyMAHIR, a comprehensive digital platform designed to equip Malaysian talent with future-ready skills. By integrating the findings of TalentCorp’s Impact Study, MyMAHIR offers valuable insights into industry trends, emerging job roles, skill requirements, career pathways, and training programmes across various sectors.
Our Group CEO, Thomas Mathew, highlighted TalentCorp's role in collaborating with industries to ensure the Malaysian workforce remains adaptable. Through initiatives like MyMAHIR, the Malaysia Critical Occupations List (MyCOL), and MyNext, we can address both immediate and long-term needs to enhance our economic and global competitiveness.
The study identifies 60 emerging roles that are crucial for advancing Malaysia's green and digital economy. Phase 2 of the study will expand to cover 12 additional sectors in 2025.
