- The Ruger Mark II is a rimfire semi-automatic pistol chambered in .22lr ("Long Rifle").
It was made from 1982 to 2005. It replaced the Standard, Ruger's first model, made from 1949 to 1982, and the MK I Target, made from 1951 to 1982.
The Ruger Standard was designed by company founder William B. Ruger after World War II.
When William B. Ruger designed the pistol, he took inspiration from the Japanese Nambu Pistol and the German Luger P08.
It went on to become one of the most successful .22 semi-automatic pistols ever produced.
The Ruger MK II was removed from production in 2004, when it was replaced by the Ruger MK III.

Excellent firearms. Very high quality, reliable handguns. Of all the common .22 target handguns, the Ruger "standard" models (MKI, MKII, MKIII, MKIV and 22/45 models) are the most reliable and will even shoot the subsonic ammo in most cases (without a silencer and without requiring any modifications). Have seen these tested against many other .22 target guns and they really are among the best of the best. You wouldn't think that making a reliable .22lr target gun would be very difficult, but apparently it is, because there are so many of them out there and the majority of them have reliability issues and are very ammo sensitive. The Ruger standard models will fire just about any kind of .22lr round you could ever find.
great pistol! Great content! 👍👍👍
Thank you
I would love to see how a Winchester 1887 and a Spencer shotgun of the same period both worked. Their cycling mechanisms are...odd.
