no matter how shitty the world gets, the fact that dodger and jesse are still good friends makes everything a little better. edit: a lot of people don't seem to understand what i meant by this. internet personalities don't usually stay friends for so long and i'm happy they're still talking to each other, even after so many years(see most youtube friendships, sbfp being one of the most recent). nothing, to my knowledge at least, "happened" between them, it's just rare for these types of friendships to last this long. it's nice that some things haven't changed.
marocstars -- I think it's just acknowledging the fact that you see people, in general, but especially online that were really good friends at one point, and then eventually either grow apart or have a falling out. It's just nice to see friendships that last.
Just to make it clear to those who are confused: This game takes place 3 years after the original Life Is Strange and yes it's all new characters as far as we know.
So I remember back in Captain Spirit, an article on the computer talked about a police officer shooting a person of color in Seattle that has activists all over it. If it's the same event, then Captain Spirit takes place like at least a month after this? Since this is around Halloween and Captain Spirit was more around Christmas.
There was a dead kid with blood all over him on a floor how is it unnecessary panicking? You come see a kid covered in blood about to die and you are like everything is cool lets just chill out...
I understand that there was the kid with fake blood that had bumped his head, possibly in to unconsiousness, I don't think he was dead. But as an officer, and with complying children he clearly lost his nerve when instead of assessing the situation further, calling for an ambulance, etc. he discharged a gun on a "random" newcomer in the form of their dad.
@@wrester1239 Did i say anything about shooting ? The comment above states that the officer panicking is unwaranted... I believe that it's okay to panick if you see a kid covered in blood about to die.
Like the police officer is in the wrong. He never called for an ambulance he just let the kid die or get paralyzed on the floor. He paniced instead of calling for help the whole story was framed to put the officer in the wrong. Like it based off real shit that happen everyday. It just lis2 wanted it to be nicer than a brown man getting shot in his garage for just playing music. (Just like it real life.) Or a kid getting shot walking through his neighborhood but ya know.
I can already see people saying this game's dialogue is cringy, but honestly the relateable and accurate details so far outweigh the cringe for sure. Sean definitely reminds me of myself as a teen so much. The self-awareness of how ultimately uncool he is, the relationship to a friend or friends that are cooler than them and the whole issue of being wrapped up in how to act and how to be cool. Ultimately though he cares for his family and he's pretty supportive but hostile to upsetting aspects of his life and defensive about anything personal. That's what I'm getting so far with the whole jehn thing and the stuff about his dad and mother. Honestly glad to see that he doesn't completely fall into the arrogant teenager stereotype and that this very first part of the game has you consider all these little aspects about a party. I just hope people don't start to say he's unrealistically good character, he feels exactly like I would in these situations. Really promising start to me.
to me the cringiest part wasn't the dialogue, it was how contrived that ending was. felt like it was written by a white frenchman who has no idea how a situation like that would play out in real life. like this was beyond David Cage levels of schlock and ham-fisted social commentary
@@umphreak9999 So glad the first comment is someone who points that shit out. The scene was very very unnatural, and the thing that is going through my head is they had the chance to get that right and they fucked it. The first moments of the game are from the cop's car POV right? So use that to establish that he is a new recruit, racist, easily frightened etc etc AND THEN include the cool foreshadowing. Like how, unless we are getting exposition on that one random ass now dead cop later on it just comes off as poor writing despite such a super legit and down to earth set up they had.

Originally I would have said, no she's just calling him uneducated. Most people think of mechanics as being idiots, so it's a jab at him not knowing his rights not him not being a citizen. But after watching the episode. Nope the dev's went full SJW, cops are the bad guys, everything is trumps fault and everything is about race.

Yes! I'm so excited for this. The dialogue is a lot less cringy to me tbh. Aside from the constant "stoner" references. And I know the injoke, you guys mean when you saw the birds on the roof in this opening, referencing the crow in the junk yard from Before the Storm!
This is going to be another few months of...WTF?! Nooo, they can't stop there?!!!!! Isn't it? Excellent! Right now, I'm trying to imagine a 16 year old rebellious Jesse.
This is better than the first one in some ways to me already! I wouldn't watch a LP of anyone else playing it besides you guys anyway, of course. The dialogue, though there's some campy stuff still, is SO much more natural than the first game,
Omg thank you so fucking much for leaving the damn music on. Super appreciate it! can't say the same for so many other youtubers who don't need the income from this one video that badly (like Jacksepticeye and the such). But fair enough. Edit: Okay I'm very glad I ended up here.. you two are great for commentary.
Its kind of sad that the incompetent police officer is the most realistic thing about this game? Like, honestly. How did that pathetic cowardly shit ever EVER graduate from the academy?
FoxerBoxerNaaniwa Not defending the US police force it can be pretty bad in some places. But not every cop can be great at their job, I imagine he recently graduated, or has never even been involved in a real fight or altercation, then there's a kid covered in blood barely breathing on the ground. He panicked, like everyone in that situation. While he had no reason to shoot, the father had no business ignoring the cops orders and running toward him.
The Tech Dweller Yeah i also think this was unrealistic... but isnt it a small town....? Police in such towns simply might not be used to any "real problems" thats why he panicks... dont know but this part just seems unrealistic :-)
The Tech Dweller If he is a recent graduate I dont think he should be allowed to do field work / patrol without a partner. I dont know how the Police agency works in the US but as far as any workplace goes, a new recruit should never be left alone to do critical task like patrolling. Roman might be right with it being a small town and maybe crime rate is low there so a sudden active crime could actually instigate panic since its a tense situation.
This is so sweet in any way imaginable. I literally had to stop at 15:49 and will now wait until this magical LP is finished and I can enjoy it in an super-duper-mega-emotional-chillout-dodger-cox-weekend-extravaganza with my ol' friend Sweet Johnny.
Over the past weekend I watched every Life is Strange episode you two played together on a whim, and I got incredibly lucky to find out this game was coming out so soon!
Weed was Legal in Seattle for about 3 years in 2016. Hell I lived above a Marijuana shop in Seattle about three years back, they've been around a while.
I like the mirroring of events of Life is Strange 1, where you start by preventing a person from getting shot, while you start this game by dealing with the consequences of a person getting shot.
Oh man, okay now I've officially watched the entire video and.... Can I just say that this has already hit WAAAAYYYY harder than LiS1, AND before the storm did combined? Like. This just seriously is was more emotional thanks to the family aspect. I thought this was going to be another poorly voice acted, poorly written mess that made me feel nothing for the MC, but.... Damn. D a m n.
watching life is strange gameplay always depresses me. Coz it's like "Look at these normal people doing normal things!" at the beginning. While I'm over here, having never experienced ANY of that because of mental illnesses that took me out of school
I went through school, I was a small little moron, don't think I ever had a father-son moment, don't think my mom ever worried, moved away from my childhood friend, got bullied, skipped all the parties, never visited anywhere, never needed to ask for money cause there was nothing I wanted, my "rebellous phase" was developing insomnia, never did a part time job, developed a life-lasting disease, didn't try much new, my cats died, wouldn't even know where to get drugs if I wanted too, all the girls i knew were retarded or sociopaths or both, never any interesting gossip, no one had interesting skills, didn't go to prom, graduated highschool. This romanticized childhood and idea of growing up? You might be more likely to win the lottery. I look at some of these teenager moments and think about how I never experienced it either, despite actually having gone through most of my youth already. But then I remember that it's also many bad things that I "missed out" on.
Dude me too. I had to leave public school half way through my 8th grade year, and then we ended up moving so I had to go to a high school that was way bigger than my middle school. I ended up leaving public school permeates a year and a half later because of depression and social anxiety.
i didnt even know this was coming out... the last several days i have been binging jesse and dodger life is strange, before the storm, and captain spirit. i literally finished a couple hours ago and then this
My Dad Loves octopi and now he someTimes answers questions with just an octopus emoji. I've come to understand it usually just means vague agreement. XD
Was anyone else really enjoying it until the end? I mean I get the cop thought that the dude was really bleeding with the "fake blood" and bs, but seriously it was such a comical overreaction to the whole situation I couldn't help but laugh
Really? Because I've seen a cop shoot a man after telling the guy to get his wallet out of the car, with the guy doing exactly what he was told. So don't come at this with your bullshit.
ooof, didn't expect you guys to choose some questionable decisions, you didn't even check on Denial's room again lol. It's your play through though, have fun with it :) (please be nice to Denial ;-;)
What's with those big ass rocks being in the middle of the yard? It seems like a moderately manicured lawn and rocks like would have to be removed so they don't ruin the mower. And for being so politically aware it does not seem to occur to the dad to stop approaching the jumpy cop. The whole ending to this segment feels like they just jumped the shark, which is a shame because I was looking forward getting to seeing more of Sean's life and how the inevitable strange phenomenon begin to turn it upside down. The original LIS did have a pretty big inciting incident as well but not one that completely launched the MC out of their ordinary life before we got to understand and be invested in it.
Yup, kinda looks like someone described them to the artist without telling them where they were from and let the artist fill in the details. A bit more of a stretch but if someone at Dontnod is slipping references into the journal, I wonder if the "Ollie ollie Oxen free" could be an Oxenfree reference.
I wonder why it asked if you sacrificed Arcadia in the first game. I wonder if Max will be involved in the plot at some point. Also, that robot samurai drawing reminds me of my brother’s school work. Jesse has seen my brother’s work because he liked a drawing my bro did of him getting married to Hawt Dawg Man.
Are you too cool for hugs?
Never !! Hugs be the baddest business !!!
hugs are too cool for me
So cool, like you don't even know cool.

Depends on who's doing the hugging.

"And now: 36 minutes of exploring one room"
That's the most Jesse Cox sentence ever uttered.
That eyebrow waggle at the adjudication of the Chock-O-Crisp was perfect.
I'm more of a fan of Daniel waving his arm as a "Big Nope" when Esteban guilt trips Sean (and Us)

I really like the "So it goes" text next to Sean's laptop. Its a cool character nod to his love of Vonnegut.
I think I speak for everyone when I say this. It's been too long since Jesse and Dodger played through a game together, but it was worth the wait.

This series makes me absolutely confident about that Dodger is the Crendor in a wig!
What're the chances of Jesse and Dodger missing one thing in this series' collecting shenanigans again?
I tried real hard and still missed things, it's quite easy if you do things in the "wrong" order. I look forward to Jesse's anguish ;)
VERY HIGH. We always miss 1 thing. And it will drive me crazy for the next 5 episodes.
Omg thank you so fucking much for leaving the damn music on. Super appreciate it! can't say the same for so many other youtubers who don't need the income from this one video that badly (like Jacksepticeye and the such). But fair enough.

JESSE STOP STARTING SO MANY GREAT SERIES
Your channel is now all my free time!
Well, that went from 0-100 real quick.

*"no body got shot so it's alright"* yea suuuureeee dodger...

I ended up leaving public school permeates a year and a half later because of depression and social anxiety.
i didnt even know this was coming out... the last several days i have been binging jesse and dodger life is strange, before the storm, and captain spirit. i literally finished a couple hours ago and then this
Holy shit that Chupacabra in Space poster is a Stranger Things reference
Lmao fuuuuck
I'm still at work and can't watch this until I get home but I am PSYCHED! I was waiting for you two to hopefully play this
You're gonna wish you hugged your papito... T_T (endless tears)
I said this before and i'll say it again. We need a remix of Jesse and Dodger singing from all of their series together.
Guys, Dontnod said that Chris/Captain Spirit *is* a 'main' character, just not a playable/central character. There's a difference, and Chris is proof.
I love you two. Managed to make me laugh within the first 10 seconds
Should've given Dad the chock o crisp, it would've been a nice last meal...
Damn, that's fucked up lol 😏
Should've taken the beers as he won't need 'em anymore. Then again, at least you now have something your little brothe4 can drink.
I'm -
Oh gawd, I am sooooo excited for this!! I love these two :D
That was…..unexpected :(
I want to see MORE!!!!!
I've been waiting for you two to play this!!!
Bet you wish you hugged dad now
oof
Alright just gotta say that this is the best dad ever.
Brothers; a tale of two sons
Akash7713 Hope there are no spiders involved in this game...
Yaasss!!! Jesse and Dodger are back!!! And so is this franchise!!! I am so stoked!
ooof, didn't expect you guys to choose some questionable decisions, you didn't even check on Denial's room again lol. It's your play through though, have fun with it :) (please be nice to Denial ;-;)
Daniel*
I can't wait for the next episode!
Btw, you can never be too cool for hugs, hugs are cool!
Thank god i'm not completely alone in the feeling. Nice name btw
I really enjoyed this first episode and can't wait to watch you guys play it! :D
Who else thought Night in the Woods 18:16
Roxy Starlos I didn’t even notice! It’s just like Gregg and Angus!
Yup, kinda looks like someone described them to the artist without telling them where they were from and let the artist fill in the details.
A bit more of a stretch but if someone at Dontnod is slipping references into the journal, I wonder if the "Ollie ollie Oxen free" could be an Oxenfree reference.
I have been waiting for jesse and dodger to do this!!!! I'm excited!
Damn. That's cool
Jesse and Dodger know how to encompass personalities and they are big hugs.
The space bar is toggling between the dialog options and interactions with environment stuff.
Yayy! Jesse and Dodger back at it again!
