One of my favorite games from childhood. There was a lot more that could have been explained to improve the presentation. For example, it would have helped to give an explanation that you RARELY find a dart power-up, unless you know exactly which door to go into and when. Also there are plenty of mechanics that were never even mentioned that make this game interesting: for example even though the game is grind-heavy, it's one of the few action scrollers that add to the challenge by discouraging grinding directly. If you stay in one place too long grinding, you start getting attacked by a swarm of feline demons that are much more deadly than standard enemies. No mention of phoenixes that save you from bottomless pits, of dart distance upgrades, and only a passing mention of the many different, challenging and interesting minibosses that appear in most gates (again, unless you know how to dodge them). Always good to see a good game at GDQ but this presentation left a lot to be desired.
Man, this brings back some memories. This game, with all of my family's NES games, is still on a shelf in my parent's room.
Nice run :) First time I ever seen this game was on a TMR stream :)
Not a bad little run. Really enjoyed this.

Game looks like so much fun, I wish their were more side scrolling action games these days, instead of side scrolling puzzle games.
Sarah add Mercenary Kings
Jamevil, I love your killing looks :d
George Washington actually had 9 siblings. None of them were named Randall.
Is the audio out if sync or is that a problem on my end?

I wish they played the Japanese version
is this a rip off of legend of kage or legend of kage is a rip off of this game?
Taito made both games, but Legend of Kage was 4 years earlier.
so it means that this is kinda like a sequel?
spiritual successor
