I have the paraiso verde and all leaves have a varigation. The main clue is the room temperature. Keep it in a warm space and it will give you those lovely leaves.

Same. Not abt light with them oddly, and mine is out on my reg apt environment but do keep house on warm side and around 50s humidity.
And if you do top cuts from a mature plant, they more often do the variegation.

What I've learnt from all of this is that you should treat plants like stocks. By in when the price is low. If a plant is ridiculously expensive, it speaks nothing of the quality or rareness. All it means is that the price can only go down.
'but I love it enough that I don't care if the price goes down'. If you really love a plant that much then you can wait for the price to go down. And in that time you can really think about if you actually wanted it.

From my understanding, the Dragon Tail is a crawling plant. Its growth is horizontal and it does best in long pots, where the roots can anchor themselves into the soil. That may be why yours was sending out 'empty' runners? Having said that, my friend has one in a round pot and its leaves are amazing!

Hi there! About my Hoya heart shaped leaf. I got it ( one leaf only) two years ago!!! It was sitting in the pot and doing nothing! I threatened it with an ultimatum if it not going to give me signs of life it will be gone. I placed it on a scorching sun spot and forgot about it. One month later i checked on the " thing" and OMG😮 it gave me some crazy growth! About the new leaves. They are tend to " freeze" and do nothing and dried off 😢. Or out of set of two one will strive but another will do freeze. What i do now i place ander a new developed leaf a piece of cardboard not allowing the new leaf to touch the support stick and it works!!! Besides Hoyas like to seat for long time and think...then they proceed to go bananas 😅
I love Singoniums! But they are indeed pront to get thrips! How? From where? Have no idea but after several years trying applying so many different preventive means to avoid the infestation and the struggle i said to myself: enough is enough! No more. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences! With regards a plant lover and i have about a hundred of them and long time experience and yet still have fiascos.

I can tell you that it is definitely an „error“ in the care regime/requirements when it comes to the paraiso verde as I went through the same issues you had 🤗
I got a paraiso verde in a sad plants surprise box and she looked even worse (speaking of variagation and having holes in some of the leaves) - mine looked exactly like yours while I kept her in my living room in a mixed plants planter. I then found out from an experienced grower that much heat and light is the key to getting Paraiso verde nicely patterned and growing, so I put mine into my prop grow tent (where it is over 30 degrees celcius due to the lamps I have in there, with at least 90 degrees humidity) and now she puts out a leaf every couple of days/weeks, and every leaf has the variegation and grows much larger then before - so I do agree with you that keeping her happy and nicely patterned in an ambient setting is difficult - but once she has her very, very high demand of light, temperatures and I guess also humidity satisfied, she is a joy to watch and grow, so please do not give up on her, once you give her what she needs, she will be thriving again ❤

I previously lived in northern Minnesota and my Paraiso also stayed green even if I tried to keep it warm, however now that we live in southern/central Florida she is growing huge highly variegated leaves so I definitely think it’s not an indoor plant unless you keep your home in subtropical/tropical conditions :/
I’ve been lucky with my syngonium Albo and have had no pests, she grew okay in MN, but again she has now taken off in our Florida balcony. As for Hoya, mine did okay in MN for awhile, but after getting some new Hoya, I had flat mites infest ALL of my Hoya and I had multiple Hoya not grow for years.. After treating for flat mites with sulfur fungicide they all grew amazingly! Flat mites cannot be seen without a microscope so you won’t see them, but a HUGE percentage of Hoya have flat mites and people have no idea because they’re not able to be seen, and they specifically attack new growth which is why the new growth never makes it :/ I highly recommend treating with sulfur!! Unfortunately you do have to repeat treatment weekly for at least 6 weeks to continuously kill the new eggs that hatch as treatment doesn’t kill the eggs so it’s a pain, but it definitely works! :)

It took almost 2 years for my Decursiva to consistently put out fenestrated leaves. Most wit 6 leaf sections each leaf. I also had the runner situation but right from the beginning I never let them grow past two nodes with no leaves before I chopped them. I did prop all the chops and they put out new and fenestrating leaves within a short time. Also keeping it chopped seemed to make my plant out out new growth points down at the bottom of the stem. I do have mine on a moss pole but I do not keep it wet all the time. More just for support. I am limited to how tall it can get and it is once again approaching that time and I will have to chop it :(
I have mine in a south facing window with the brightest light I have in the house. So much so I had to hang a lace curtain on the window. I think I paid 14.00 for mine as a baby plant not just cutting a couple years ago and I am in the USA.

I’m super into plants but I’ve never bought cuttings yet… I’ve done many , many plugs or a few cane begonia props but I’ve not been able to justify spending £20+ on just a one or two leaf cutting that’s not established with roots… just incase , but I know that nursing a plant from the ground up is just super rewarding through the process when it goes right.
I do find myself spending ridiculous money on Begonias though.. il see one’s not doing so well in a garden centre or supermarket & il have to take it home for revival 😂 and there’s been a few times I’ve spent £10/15/20 sometimes even £25/30 on a Begonia that realistically they’d have thrown away in a week if not a few days , and to be honest there usually the projects I love the most & just can’t help throwing my wallet at….😂
I picked up a two poorly under watered Alocasia a few days ago I’ve been hunting awhile for , so I can’t wait to watch them thrive in my grow house 🔥🫣

Your hoya kerrii sounds like it has mites- if a small leaf is falling off constantly plus baby hoya leaves are so fragile its best if the leaf doesn’t touch anything. Some bigger leaf hoyas also should not dry out when the baby leaves are growing- my tanggamus did the same even though the soil wasn’t completely dry but the older leaf was just a tad bendable when I saw the baby leaf had dropped. Not to mention kerrii really needs whole lotta light.
The flat mites hoya has- its not visible to the human eye and I was unable to see any even after using jewellerer’s loupe on my hoya which had refused to grow since I recieved it 6 months ago. Once I did 2 round of sulfur treatment, I have seen 3 growth points very recently. So just give it a go- it sounds like a chore which it is, but the result has been amazing on my 70+ hoyas.

And if you don’t want to do sulfur I know some people have success just putting it under running water and brushing it with a soft toothbrush, especially where the leaves meets the stem.

Hi, I'm sure you are being inundated with paraiso Verde tips. I pinky promise that the secret in the average American living room kept at a comfortable temperature and humidity is warming the bottom, the pot, the roots, however you want to think of it. I use a candle warmer ($5) beneath a marble stand. You can't see the warmer. The marble gets very warm, warm enough to get the variegation absolutely gorgeous. Another thing to be aware of is that after a cut, it may take a couple green leaves before you get variegation again, so a mid cutting will be extra stubborn. I do not get any variegation in my living room even beneath lights. It has to come from beneath here, in my home, with my paraisos. Good luck!

I placed it right under my grow light, fertilize roughly once every two weeks with water soluble fertilizer, keep it in the bathroom (shower) with higher humidity, and I placed a small piece of bamboo wood for it to climb, and it’s been keeping its variegation. Don’t give up on it, it’s an expensive investment that we both made.

My white princess and white knight. I hate the growth pattern. The leaves always get damaged dispite being in high humidity. They have rust that will not go away. I have treated it and cut them back so many times and it always comes back with the third set of new leaves. 😤

I have a standard kerrii and its nof a fast grower. I may havs bid more fhan i ment to for if too. I would not replace it
I am the person the buys reverted plants. As they are so cheap. Got a reverted philodendron Burle Marx for 2 quid which is very cheap here in fhe uk for a good sized cutting.
I have been waiting for things to drop in price. But i do feel some plant are so pricy even now they are dropping. But if one can afford it then its a not a problem but i know most cant or wont spend the money. I havs besn going plants almost 40 years and i still worry i will kill it.

The galaxy one (I didn't know what different) the one that has the pink splashing look is better. But yea they r not worth the price. I agree...but I do have 4 not 5 I gave 1 to my mom 😂😂❤❤

One I regret is definitely my Melanochrysum. It wasn't too bad spent £50 on it for a plant with 4 large leaves... it now has 3 leaves as I've chopped it up 😂 it just keeps growing weird. Should've listened to the warnings. As for a couple others... I have a brandy but I've decided to put it in the corner and let it trail. I had it on a moss pole, lots of humidity and every leaf just broke as it emerged 😅 my kerrii is still just 1 leaf (checked its definitely got a node) and had that about 6 months now 😂

My paraiso verde gave me one variegated leaf after a heatwave. Other than that, always green. So I threw it out last week. I was so over it. It was "only" €20 and selling it was way too much of a hassle for such an ugly plant (I don't like the look of them when not variegated). If I knew about that hassle before buying, I would not have bought it.
Pink princess I liked, but the new leafs were constantly getting stuck and breaking off. Luckily I got it on a good deal and could sell it for the same price a couple of months later.
Brandtianum I gave to a friend who loved the look of it. It did fine as a trailing plant in her living room for a while but I don't think she has it anymore either😂
Syngonium I got in a trade (one jose buono cutting for like 5 species of Syngonium) and loved it for a while but didn't want it to climb another mospole. I only want mosspoles for stuff I absolutely love since I hate the look of them. So only my monstera albo and Philodendron get one these days.
Went from 90 back to about 50 plants last year because I just wanted to be able to enjoy them all better. Best choice ever! I now only have plants that I really like or are sentimental.

Ok so far I think it's based on your care not the plants, you haven't given them humidity and / or something to climb, adequate temperature or lighting. I mean you said syngonium albo grows so easy it should cost nothing but you can't even grow it 😂 I think you need to do research on each plant and considering you can't grow them I don't think you can judge the price.

The Paraiso Verde is so finickity when it comes to light and position (don't like to be moved). Too much light or to little and it'll revert, I'm in the North hemisphere got mine in a west facing window. Find it's position cut off all reverted leaves and it'll start pushing out variegation again.✌️
