Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
Is the city I live in, the city of angels
Lonely as I am, together we cry
I drive on her streets 'cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills 'cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy
Well, I never worry, now that is a lie
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It's hard to believe that there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe that I'm all alone
At least I have her love, the city, she loves me
Lonely as I am, together we cry
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, no, no-no, yeah, yeah
Love me, I say, yeah yeah
One time
Is where I drew some blood
(Under the bridge downtown)
I could not get enough
(Under the bridge downtown)
Forgot about my love
(Under the bridge downtown)
I gave my life away
Yeah, yeah
Oh, no, no-no-no, yeah, yeah
Oh, no, I said, oh, yeah, yeah
Where I staySometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
Is the city I live in, the city of angels

Crazy when I used to listen to this as a kid, I didn’t know what the song was about. Now that I’m older I sadly can relate to this song. I am 13 months clean today. I still love this song.
Good for you getting clean!
We’re rooting for you baby!!!!!!
God loves you
Keep it up 👍👍👍
Redemption to yourself and to what you're worth and to the people who love you and care for you deserve the redemption that has been bestowed to you by the
divinity and the grace's of love.
This song hits me hard. I used to live in L.A. and I lost a good friend to "under the bridge." It's easy to check in and nearly impossible to check out. I'm glad that Kiedis got out and shared his story with such a fucking great song!
Hotel California...
ok
My dad once performed this song on stage a couple years back. I used to dislike the music he made and covered. I look back now and smile knowing i grew up with great music and i wish i had the chance to thank him for that. Thank you dad xoxo.

One of the most underrated guitarists ever. This dude shreds. I think he is probably overlooked with the lead singer and "Flea," who is one of the best base guitar players. This band is truly elite though. Every band member has skills out the ass.
How is a Rock Hall of Fame inductee, multiple platinum selling and grammy winning artist underrated??? Not to mention the fact that he is in almost every greatest guitar player list in publications...
Puertoricanpapi That doesn't make him well known. Professionals and people knowledgeable on music know his talent. Most people know the band by Anthony Kiedis or Flea, even though I don't think they had the most talent on that band. I'm glad Rolling Stones Magazine labeled highly though.
Trust me, John Frusciante is well known -- it is all the fame that made him leave RHCP several times.
Puertoricanpapi
I agree. I would even go as far as saying he's one of the most popular members of the band.
ThaFuzzyMan
Well of-course Anthony Kiedis is most popular guy of RHCP, he's a friggin' lead singer after all, isn't he? That's pretty much always the case. However, Frusciante is very well known and there's no case for him to be called 'underrated' - he's a standout guitarist (arguably one of the best of all times) and he's constantly rated as one, so there's nothing 'underrated' about him.
Red Hot Chili Peppers will release their new album some time later this year (in 2016).
I will upload their newest songs as soon as they become available!
Keep subscribed to stay up to date of the new album!

Yeah!
+knabbel3 I know this isn't that important, but when you have a thing saying "here's a better version of this video! click", i was expecting the same song with better quality ._.
+jacob anthony I know what that song is about
+Alfie Bradbury ...?
Fun fact, that female voice you hear in the Under the Bridge portion of the song was the mother of the deceased guitarist this song was dedicated to. They wanted the outro to sound epic, so they got her in as both symbolism and also to give it that extra punch that still brings a tear to one's eye to this very day. It's also thanks to it that the band got put on the map.
I'm surprised more people haven't liked or commented on this.
joinmarch76 fake
false. This song was based on one of Kiedis's poems that his producers discovered and coaxed him into turning into a song. It's got nothing to do with Fruiscante's mother, it's about Kiedis's struggle with drug addiction.
It's about heroin
Actually is Frusciante's mother
Still will always love this song. It hits different now being in recovery. I got 72 days clean off of fentanyl. I was living in my car, sometimes sleeping in tents and had friends I hung with who lived under a bridge. I IV’d my drugs and I lived that way for years. 3 years homeless but 13 years struggling with addiction since I was 15. I’m so thankful for recovery. Life clean is amazing, nothing short of a miracle. My son was taken due to CFS, back in December and finally in October I’ll be having my review in court and so proud to be able to say I’m gonna be sober and get my boy back soon! Right now I’m about to be granted unsupervised visitation after 8 months of supervised visits. Very blessed today.
This song makes me cry. Recovering heroin addict & this song speaks volumes to me. When I was at my worst, I was homeless & sleeping under a bridge. It was so fucked up. I didn't think I was that bad of an addict either... So sick. Glad it's mostly over
Congratulations on overcoming it brother. Respect to you:)
I'm so happy for you, you strong, you'll be like new soon 😘
Congrats man, my uncle was clean for 2 years now back on it, it's the hardest drug to get off of,respect
congratulations man (: keep keeping on!!

A little over a year ago I randomly wanted to listen to this song. For a solid week straight I listened on my way to and from work. The end of that week my dog died suddenly from kidney failure due to his old age (10 years). Now this is his remembrance song..... I miss you Coughee.
My teen daughter plays drums and it one of her faves. As soon as she says mum.....you wanna jam?
She hasn't even finished the question and I'm running for my guitar lol!
Weather you play and instrument or just an avid listener, music brings people together, no matter you social status or what nationality you are, it touches each person in their own way.
I'm so thankful that my baby girl has eclectic taste in music like myself.
I see her Playlist and it has songs from all diffent genres from before my parents were born to now.
Weather is be Jazz, Rock n roll, Metal, Grunge, pop, RnB, house, Rap and god help me Opera.
I'm proud that I have opened her beautiful eyes to the world of music.
" Music takes us where words cannot!"
Ok enough sentimental ramblings for one day and to anyone actually reading my dribble.....
Hope you and your loved ones had a great and safe Christmas and may 2020 bring you all love and joy and LOADS more music.

This song hits my heart every time ❤️😔 it hurts, and it’s intense, but it’s so real.
This song helped me A LOT when I was going through heroin withdrawal. Thank you Red Hot Chili Peppers for writing such an amazing, beautiful song!!
I was only 4 at the time, but these guys were a MAJOR part of my childhood. My father used to blast these guys constantly, along with STP and PJ.
Just read Scar Tissue and saw how much depth this song has, one of my favourites
With the birds we share its a lonely viewwwwww
Actually WeirdMonkey, it's "With the bloods we shed"
No body cares
This always reminds me how much I love the town where I was born. Whenever I was sad, I would just go for a walk beside the river, by the bridge and it would calm me down. Whenever I needed solace, whenever I needed somebody to hear me out without a word I could just get there, sit down and my worries would disappear. I have so many beautiful memories with my town and I owe a great deal to her.
I'm from Croatia, and my town is called Osijek.
@heyheyloverbitchuwu You are from Osijek too? 😂
What sells this song for isn't just the calmness of the beginning and middle just before a kickass outro ending, nor even how awesome that outro is. No, for me, the biggest selling point has to be the women singing the third verse, lead by the mother of the lead guitarist of the Chili Peppers.
And damn, those girls got some pipes on em! And I come back to this number over and over again if nor for the song's entirety, than for that outro and Miss Frusicante's performance in it alone.
Song was released in the fall of 1991 when I was 2. Wish I was a bit older. I love the ending of the song when the key changes to E major. Was driving home from the barber today and it was cool and overcast out but I felt this sense of comfort, lol.
Cause this song is the fucking shit
Anthony kiedis is my inspiration when it comes to alternative rock including Aerosmith, Joe Perry my favorite guitarist. Thanks some of your songs helped me overcame many obstacles in my life, thank you you’re a life Savior Anthony Kiedis thanks so much

Though I understand the true meaning behind this song, I can relate to it 100%, but only metaphorically. When he talks about the city as "her", for me I think of "her" as an ex-lover. You see, I recently overcame a drug addiction which cost me the love of my life. I too, had a girlfriend who gave all of her love for me, and we were together a really long time, but my addiction pushed her away, and ultimately out of my life. To this day, I'm still not over it, but I still maintain a friendship with this girl. She's still my "companion" and she "knows who I am". I've recently given up on the chance for a relationship with her again, but I still have feelings for her, and I always worry about her. "I never worry, now that is a lie." I am always feeling lonely without her, no matter what girl comes along. "Lonely as I am, together we cry".
Make a change and break away and try again
Bryan Wood I'm overcoming one right now too, I know how you feel! I feel like i got serious brain damage, but I think that's only the withdrawals. 3rd Day clean now
***** shut the fuck up. He choose to do drugs and get addicted so its his fault. Any reasonable person would leave someone who is doing drugs and has an addiction just like anyone would leave an alcoholic.
***** Who said she loved him? Being in a dating relationship is based off attraction not love. The attraction goes away when you find out your partner is a drug addict.
TheIslamicAtheist Right...tell me, you've never made a mistake in your life? Have you never been a dumb teenager who made some stupid decisions? I've done things I regret man, but I'm clean now, and I'm moving on in life. Don't tell me for one second that you're perfect, because you're not. We all make mistakes. Live and learn. I've learned, and I'm not who I was before.
That little guitar riff in the chorus always makes me smile when I hear it
This always came on the radio when I was little and it brings back memories of the past before my dad left us
Awesome post. One of the best songs of the 90's. Thank God for the Chili Peppers. =) . Peace and love. ty

I'm a combat veteran. I have depression and PTSD. I have attempted to take my own life on several occasions. To any and all of my fellow vets, I want you to know you don't stand alone
Stay strong bro
@@Account-jg6ot Thank you my friend. I try
I try but it gets to me
From a guy like myself who was NEVER IN THE MILITARY you do NOT stand alone anyhow my friend!! I never was actually IN the military like I say, BUT I have suffered with depression for most of my life since I was around 5 years old, a product of a family who seemed as though I was a worthless piece of SHIT my whole life and feed me the "importance of my baby brother" as the ONLY "worth while child" in our family where I was total I was totally worthless crap my whole like!!! I grew up VERY ALONE, and even now at 54 years old, people claim to "know me" but assume they know more about me than they actually do in most cases!! And seldom does anybody ASK me who I am, what I think or how I feel, and certainly NOBODY includes me in shit most of the time either!! The only time people want me around is to exploit money or free labor out of me, then talk shit to me and talk down to me like they think I am some stupid idiot who can't understand things around me!! OR they label me as "crazy" because I don't jump on their bandwagon, or hoop through their hoops to PLEASE THEM, when I know it will lead me to do things that will only cost me more in the end either health wise, money wise or emotionally if I "follow them blindly"! In the end the world for me is a "cruel place" and very empty and lonely.....and I have no trust or faith in other human beings most of the time as well..........So I know how you must feel my friend!!!
@@gregbenwell6173 We stand together ❤
this song gives me goose bumps. i love it
This song shows me my soul, it wrecks me into atoms, it raises me to the ends. God, I love this honesty... I breathe again...
This song is one of my few decent memories with my father. When I was a kid, my dad locked me and my sisters in his room and played this song. It was like torture, and we cried and fussed because we hated it. He's been in jail for five years, and I listen to it, and it's still like torture, and it still makes me cry. The reason why is because it makes me think about the things that could have happened.

Even though it's a song about doing heroin under a bridge, it reminds me of when my dog died. It played on the radio after we put him down from throat cancer. "I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day."
Nathan Szany 😢🤧🐶✝️💝
Nathan Szany from experience your pet dying is a walk in the park compared to the horrific daily life of a heroin addict. I've had pets die and my son has been addicted to heroin and other hard substances and to be honest you should stop whining and thank God your not a hopeless addict.

I just cry. This is the apex of addiction's torment
heard that ...
+Conner M Man, I was a heroin addict for 10 yrs, and I just don't believe in "The Big Book" the recovery book (not the Bible). Heroin addiction is its own entirety, and I don't believe all facets of addiction are the same! Or to be TREATED the same. You cannot compare being "addicted" to like weed, to being a broken, lost, hopeless slave to especially the physical TORTURE of heroin withdrawals, at all. It's a vast difference between feeling the NEED to smoke weed all day as to literally running around in a psychotic mental frenzy, trying to do almost anything, frantic, to get money to buy more dope, fearing and knowing the inevitable: the most insane, underrated, torturous, belittling, desensitizing, mind boggling withdrawals ppl couldn't imagine if they tried to.
Wow. Bless you, darlin, and wishing you all the best.
lisa karson I'm on my second week without Suboxone. I truly know what you mean, you are not alone. It makes me happy that such a song, which I never really connected to before now, can bring two human experiences together and shine a light. "I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day..."
+Conner M well hello! I swear I thought people are going to think that that post was just another annoying whiny person but fuck them because people really have no clue what that addiction can actually be like and how it can bring you to your knees I snorted for the first six yrs, and then shot up for like 5 more. I'm on a clinic and I've quit doing heroin 5 years ago so at least you can know that one person is never going back to that lifestyle or lack of one I should say. blessings unto you for even being able to relate to me and posting it not giving a fuck who knows what, because that's how I feel I'm really not scared to tell people shit about it.. I can't believe the things people can be in denial over and never mention out loud, when I can so easily say that I fought the worst Addiction on Earth. thank you!
Thanks a lot for uploading this masterpiece for us along with lyrics!
