I well remember the joy of being able to at last collect the new car from the showroom, cash or cheque in those days, and riding off on holidays, only to come face to face with another war in 1939,with the resultant shortage of petrol. So the car had to be stored away for the duration, with the hope that it would still run later. The feeling of betrayal and disappointment was devastating. All that scrimping and saving for a long time, all for nothing.
The car is superb but I would leave it exactly as it is but carefully clean & conserve it and it deserves to be garaged to prevent further deterioration .There is now a huge interest in cars like these that have never succomed to any restoration but still useable. The number is intriguing though, Bournemouth c. 1962, sure it is not LJ 9438 ? !.Not sure about the Bournemouth area but many counties were still using 2-letter series in the late 30s, and then reversed them later.I have known an ' accidental ' reversal like this twice before !.If it has the original RF60 Registration Book, all would be revealed.Take great care of it - it is so interesting as it but would lose so much if restored !.
It is certainly a very sound and highly original car with genuine patina that is hard to replace but then it does make the car more vulnerable if you intend to use it. There is one thing I feel you may by now be aware of and that it the registration number is not the original one the car had when new. It is a series issued in Bournemouth around 1963 so I suspect the 1937 plate was sold or transferred and this later one bought to avoid having an Age Related 'plate issued. Fine car though!

A very nice original car, I would be inclined to respray it though in the original colour of course.
