- In August 2019, an inexperienced but very game and unbeaten Anthony Yarde challenged feared world champion Sergey Kovalev for his WBO World Light Heavyweight Title in his hometown of Chelyabinsk, Russia.
Yarde very nearly stopped Kovalev but ultimately his lack of experience at the top level proved the difference.
On January 28th at the OVO Arena, Wembley, Yarde challenges unbeaten unified world champion Artur Beterbiev for his crown live on BT Sport.

Yarde has the heart of a lion with just 12 amateur fights he goes in the ring with people have 200 and 300 fights and gives a great performance

Even though Kovalev was in the twilight of his career, Yarde gave an accounting of himself that he needn’t be ashamed of at all. Beterbiev is also on the backside of his career however he is so dangerous Yarde would be wise to avoid that match as long as possible. Of course the current LH Champion has a say in all this and it’s most likely he will take a Beterbiev fight 1st.
Love Yarde, he’s a nice guy, blew himself out going for the finish, good learning curve for him, shame he got stopped, but he’s a relatively inexperienced fighter whose entertaining in and out of the ring.
Excellent fight. Yarde is talented and still inexperienced, Kovalev great recovery and great boxing. That was touch and go at one point.
Canelo's resume is looking all the better lately. Liam Smith just destroyed Eubank JR. Meanwhile some people were trying to not give Canelo credit for beating champ Kovalev claiming he was washed just because Yarde tested him when Yarde also tested beast mode hyped Beterbiev. Matter of fact, if Beterbiev had a win over Kovalev it would be one of the top if not THE top win of his career but people somehow try to deny the smaller man Canelo credit.
Yard can disappoint, he has power he can't use.

Kovalev was done at that stage of his career. If Yarde would have pressured him in the round after he had him hurt, he would have KO’ed him. Yarde better have better stamina if he wants to have any chance against Beterbiev.

Yarde is a great fighter, later on he took fight with Beterbiev, you gotta have balls of steel to do that and he performed pretty well, he is elite fighter but one step behind the best, maybe he can turn it around couse hes got experience now.
Weird that Kovalev's power didn't really show up. Only really hurt Yarde because he was exhausted.

Being jacked as much as Yard does, it looks like it’s nearly impossible to hit from different angles as well as keeping energy in late rounds. Have nothing against Yard however
The fighter like Yard is not good to feed anymore because when Yard has chance to knocking kovalev down he is still playing like he is the best than it is very satisfied for kovalev to knock him down this is the point

Yards is too too open for my liking as a boxer . Yards can be easily knocked out if he tangle with an urging boxer . No technique’s in skills and cunningness of understanding his own foot movement’s .
