Four French fighter jets have conducted a “dissuasive and non-escalatory mission” under the framework of Nato, with the goal of being “the eyes for Nato staff”. The fighter jet pilots claimed France and Nato are “not at war with Russia” while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again urged the military alliance to impose a no-fly zone over his country. Zelensky’s plea came after Russian missiles hit the Yavoriv military base in western Ukraine near the Polish border on March 13, 2022. Nato rejected Ukraine’s request for a no-fly zone on March 4, fearing it would expand the war.
