Wooden Fox - making a traditional marionette

- How I got that scar on my hand? Making a hand-carved fox puppet from gardening scraps. This is Splinters - His ears are felt, his body parts are scrap wood painted with oil paints, his joints are old fence wire and potato sack and his whiskers are made from tangled fishing line. He's totally re-cycled! I hoped to build a puppet for travelling with, he is not the one but this project taught me respect for the traditional craft. Thank you to my parents for putting up with this and providing tools and space for me. This was my lockdown project, what was yours?

My grandfather taught me to always wear a glove on the hand holding the wood while carving. He saw my hand after carving a wood spirit (my first carve). I had over a dozen cuts on my hand. That's when he decided to teach me the proper way. My grandfather liked to carve gypsy dancer and hula dancer lamps at that time.
Very calming, you have a nice presence :)
Wow, I must say, this is a nice learning video for me, especially since I’m using an entire tree for a puppet I’m working on. He’ll be more bigger than your puppet’s scale (2’5 without strings), so learning all these road bumps you had can definitely be accounted for when I make mine. Thank you for making such wonderful video!
Thank you! I am very glad to have helped!
I really like your persistence in doing this project, you seem to really love animals, so do I, thank you for making this video!
This is incredibly beautiful, this inspires me to make my own puppet
I love foxes
What a wonderful marionette! I came across this looking for inspiration (I’m about to start making a fox marionette myself) Your whole way of working and problem solving is very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
The fox is soooo cuuuute! You're reminding me that I should post a couple of vids of my Drosselmyer marrionette!
Well done, home style, the best!...
Thanks! I've so been meaning to post an update Bout my latest puppet!

Thank you for watching! I am so excited that this week the fox has finally arrived in my home country and soon I can play with it again!
Wow,you can prebably make a little version of,Black ant,or Salamander
Nice work!
Wonderful creating. Really enjoying your videos.
Thank you slops! I have been loving yours too x
Mr Todd is a very fine fellow. Plato's theory of forms say there is essense of fox. And Mr Todd has captured it. Very fine.
Enjoyed the true story and the way you put it on video. Sorry for the finger accident - hope all is well now.
I guess your fans would be curious to see the steps you follow in creating your next marionette (the cat/ the bear/ the little prince/ an E.T./...). Also, to find out what adventures their beloved Fox 🦊is up to
Thank you for watching! My finger is better now. For a while I couldn't feel the back of it - then it was itchy. Now more than a year later the feeling has come back! I just recently have been thinking of carving a set of Little Red Riding Hood characters. I shall make a film if I do!
