That Andromedon was like "You wanna piece of me, well come and get it, Bite me!", just to end up YOLOing his move to went into your backline probably thinking to himself "Glory to the Elders!"
If you click on the question mark in the promotion/soldier ability screen you can get a longer description with more info on the skills. The CQB Dominance squaddie skill has details about the CQB bonuses and dominance radius at levels 1, 2, and 3, (too much to add here) and the Zone of Control corporal skill give you more detail on the penalties ( -10 aim and -3 mobility).
Considering what you went in with Tap you handled it extremely well. The fact neither the squaddie or rookie panicked was a god send, if was me they both would have lost it and caused a squad wipe!
Tap, at 21:00 use the guy with the blue screen rounds first, then haywire protocol The blue screen lowers hack defenses, so you would have been able to hack it
I was watching the video yesterday and had that exact same thought! The issue is that I was looking at the situation as a choice between trying to hurt/kill it or go for the hack? They were totally separate in my mind. But I totally should have take the shot with blue screen rounds first because I was ultimately going to do that either way and it gives me a better chance to succeed at the hack.
Oh, this is such a great idea, I am going to remember this for my future playthroughs :D! I may have an alternative solution to the andromedon problem. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Amit Rao aka "the guy with the bluescreen rounds" using a bullpup and he still had two shots avaliable? The weapon is called Black&Decke, but it looks like a vanilla Skirmisher bullpup with extended magazine. If so, with accuracy at 100% and 12-15 damage per shot he could have killed it, right?
@@fedahankic5550 You are right, I was wrong - the ability to perform another action after shooting has to do with "Marauder" skill (Skirmishers have it by default), not the weapon itself. Thanks :)
That was a really tough roll from the rng gods with the andromedon. Good recovery/retreat. Got all your people out and finished the mission so well done. Good vid
I think, enemies have to see the mimic beacon at the start of their first action. Otherwise they won't react to it like the Andromedon in this case, even if they get sight of it after movement. At least, that's my experience.
I think so aswell, which is why that mimic beacon felt so bad. The Andromedon clearly couldn't see it because the beacon was too far to the right and also on high ground. So obviously the Andromedon had nothing else to do, but throw a grenade at 2 grouped up guys This was a giant misplay to prioritize the trooper shooting the beacon (who would still definitely see it if were much more to the left) and ignore the Andromedon
That Andormedon husk fight was a mess. Not putting the effort into learning class abilities is really hurting you at times. Using Failsaafe before the hack would have increased your success changes a lot. Also, your Combat Protocol has a chance to stun the target, so that would have been an option too.

Speak to me!" Rao: *Gurgle* Jonny: "Thank God, he made it, but he must be speaking French or something" Haywire: 😑 That punch hurt me, also failing the hack felt like such a a wow moment. At least you got the hack boost, I think that was Rays doing for sure 👍
TapCat I’m begging you please click the question mark on the skills that seem to have vague descriptions! The modders for the proficiency classes added really well detailed descriptions for the vast majority of the new skills
Yeah, sorry about that. Didn't notice it at the time... and the bad news is that the whole series has already been recorded so there's no way for me to do incorporate that now.
Both TapCat and Syken have excellent tutorials about various aspects of the game. The one I can recommend from my own experience is Syken's tutorial of how pull the pods the smart way, helped me a lot :)
For some of the talents you can click the question mark in the corner and it will give you more details. Like for close quarters, hopefully they specify how close you need to be. Another rough mission with that Andromidon at the start, hopefully you get some better luck on the next one.

Lol, that's true. He put himself in a terrible defensive position but he certainly got a good shot in before he went down.

That's a good point, panic could have been a literal killer in that situation!

That is an ability they can get at higher levels. He was not there yet. @@Lena_Hansen_Jonsson
No he could not have done that. The soldier with Bluescreen Rounds is the hacker.

You're almost as unlucky as I am in this game. It makes for entertaining viewing.
I vote to go for the BoltCaster - I want to see Syken's reaction :P
It would have been priceless!
Lol😂😂😂
Man these missions are getting tough...
Agreed, I felt like we dodged a bullet that we didn't lose a soldier today and it definitely could have gone the other way.

I seriously wondered if we are all going to get out of there, just thankful it came together at the end.

I swear, my success rate on hacks is almost non-existent.
a wins a win. Everything else is extra
Fair point!
What mod gives you the cards with the photos of the squad members at the top of the screen please?
Here it is: [WOTC] Quick Soldier Info
I'm trying to get @TAPCAT to download the demo of Classified France 44 off of Steam. I am curious about his opinion.

It does feel like we've had a rough stretch here, we can only hope it will ease up a bit going forward but this is XCOM so we'll see...
The "?" mark is key
