    I load excavators almost daily. I'd never go over the side in my lowboy. I go right over the back, on a 16 tire Cozad. Otherwise, I'd breakdown and go over the front.

    It would've been a whole lot safer, quicker, easier on the trailer and excavator to just load it from the rear! People do this Crap all the time. Just because you can load it that way doesn't mean you should. But hey, that's just my opinion 🥴

    Not a very good operator and what is up with the rims I have done this hundreds of times. (1) walk up to the trailer at center of load area. (2) reach across the trailer to the ground using the bucket lift until tracks are higher than trailer walk forward using tracks and arm at the same time until you have the full idler are more on the trailer. (3) Stop swing around 180 degrees set bucket on ground and lift till excavator is level then walk backwards until center of excavator is center on trailer. (4) then slowly spin around on trailer with tracks. (5) center excavator on trailer fold up boom and chain down. I can do this in less than 3 min. BUT THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR THE TRAILER AND SHOULD BE USED AS A LAST RESORT FOR LIMITED LOADING AND UNLOADING AREAS.

He should come try the 330B L I operating digging diets not bad try lifting 70-100 feet trees and swinging them on a 20% side hill

      @caleb505 10 лет назад +1

      wspycher100 Older machines with lots of hours tend to have a bunch of "slop" in the controls. With a lot of slop you can be more precise when loading and unloading by using your hands versus the foot pedals. Our John Deere 690 has close to 20,000 hours on it and has seen it's better days. The foot controls are extremely jerky. This machine looks to have a good deal of hours on it too and is well past it's glory days.

      Seemed like an eternity watching it, tho. You're right, didn't take that long to side-load it. Just seems like a lot of unnecessary wear and tear on the equipment doing it that way. I'm guessing they were worried about scarring up the highway with the tracks if they did it normally .. maybe?

    • @plcwboy
      @plcwboy 7 лет назад

      Why would you unhook the lowboy before you loaded?

    • @midnightrider2342
      @midnightrider2342 7 лет назад

      @plcwboy: That's how a lowboy trailer is designed. There is a mechanism where you detach the fifth wheel pulling portion of the trailer from the trailer itself. After you do this, the trailer drops on the ground, the truck pulls away from it, ramps fold down, and you load your heavy equipment on it. Then you back the truck up to it and pin everything back together so you can haul it. Some people "side load" equipment on the trailer to save the trouble and effort of separating the trailer. If you use a lowboy a lot, you can "detach" faster than someone can "side load". Granted, there are rare times where side loading might be more convenient (lack of room, etc).

    • @plcwboy

    side loaded on a peerless tri axle with singe jeep many times, rookie move, and not good for the trailer, but try climbing over the back with iced grousers, or try getting back under the trailer with a single axle jeep and 50 ton machine on the deck on ice. but for crying out loud at least block the trailer side rails first to minimize the stress.

    When we do this on the rarest of occasion we will have our guys install a ply wood wear layer on the deck and weld a temporary piece of angle steel on edge. It's easy to cut off after and it saves the edges from deformation. A lot of extra work but we charge extra for delivery or pick up where we just can't split the trailer

      Cat products: 3 stands for excavator (product type), 15 stands for 15ton (tonnage), B represents B series, B is newer machine compare with 315, so...B,C,D, the higher the letter the newer the machine. If L is after series letter, example, CAT315BL, L stands for long truck excavator, loooong reach... for deeeep holes. Thanks for stopping by!

    I hear ya - but this is how the owner does it - so if it goes for him it goes for his employees.

      No it is not. You are the driver which makes you responsible for everything that happens..

    When there is more paint on the track rails then the counter weight, you know you are dealing with some serious skill. :D

    Cozad and Murray will tell the first thing is never side load 👎

      It's a fixed neck Peerless and in the snow your not getting hooked back up once you're loaded with a mechanical neck, I made that mistake one too many times. In the winter I side load my Murray all the time, I block the trailer beams and walk the machine up with cribbing. I just like the mech. because I don't need a wet line on my trucks and I got it for a song.
