I’ve got a 1.6t petrol version of the Elite Nav on lease. Love it to bits but already eyeing up another Astra to replace it. Glad to hear Vauxhall have managed to improve what was already arguably the best hatchback driving experience.
These are driven by a wet timing belt and as long as you change the oil at the right time and you use the recommended oil it should last a long time both belt and turbo .
It sounds like my old vw polo 1.4 tdi engine which I traded in last year for a 1.6 diesel Astra j it a lot smoother and the mpg is better then the polo
It really depends on the state of your gearbox. I found this article by Courtnay Sport below. They know a lot about upgrading Vauxhall’s etc. 👍🏾 www.courtenaysport.co.uk/Gearbox-Rebuilds
Just took a test drive at the local dealership. Very dissapointing. I am totally on the opposite opinion compared to you. On low RPM the engine simply died twice while I slowed down before intersections. My speed was around 3-4km/h and usually I put my 1.6 Astra J into 2nd gear in similar situations so I did the same with this 1.2 145HP Astra K, the engine couldnt't stand it despite I pushed the accelerator pedal all the way down... I felt like the engine was struggling in low RPM city drive and you had to very precisely find the right gear for the right speed... Super annoying and to drive, you constantly have to play around with the clutch and the stick to keep the car moving. The turbo only kicks-in on high RPM, you cannot even accelerate without switching two gears back. The car is just simply miserable and dissapointing... But that's what you get with a 3 cylinder 1.2 engine in a 1.4 tonns car. It was such a pleasure to sit back to my 5 gear manual 1.6 Astra J after this car, it was much smoother to drive than the Astra K. Sorry for the negative words your video is cool but the car isn't :)
You can’t drive the petrol engines same way as diesel engines, I drive bmw 330d it has almost 700nm torque, and it is effortless to drive than I jump on my motorbike 650cc inline 4 it has 94 bop and weighs 200 kegs, it does not feel quick as my car but in reality bike is probably quicker than most cars on the road, It’s just I have to work the engine and I’m not use to that. I like the sound of that astra I may test drive it myself see how it feels.
Nothing good about that 3-cylinder it won't last more than 4,5 years I have been trying to buy car for a year everything 3-cylinder 1-l turbo nothing but problems if you buy the new 4 to 3 years is ok when people buy second-hand vehicles like this you're asking for trouble stay away from them the turbo kills the engine
Turbo is not good for a 1.2 with only a 3 cylinder engine; it thrashes the engine all the time and Vauxhall know this because they want you to buy a new car every year. The Vauxhall Astra 1.4 with a 4 cylinder engine will more than handle the turbo charge and it's a shame that Vauxhall don't make them anymore (too good for the buyer).
I drove the 1.4 and you're spot on, the responsiveness is impressive. Fell in love when I switched it to Sport mode 🥰

It’s good to hear you are loving your Astra. I think that it is a very underrated car. 👍🏾

Good to hear your Astra J mpg is better than your previous Polo. 👍🏾
Do you think it would be worth to go stage 1 with m32 gearbox?

Hi, thanks for watching the video and your comments. I’m sorry to read it isn’t the car for you. 👍🏾.
