  • Elon Musk is seeing something that others don't, especially given that Tesla is no longer compute constrained. Musk has released a free trial and slashed the price of FSD in an aggressive move to try and get as many users as possible onto the platform. At the same time, Tesla is now focused on delivering a dedicated Robotaxi vehicle which is aimed at transforming the entire transportation industry forever. #ElonMusk #Tesla #fsd

What they mean is that now it is ready. They will soon announce the robotaxis and now the masses have access to FSD, that has not been the case for all those years you are referring to, because of the price and strict release only a few people have had access to FSD. I paid for FSD back in 2018, but only actually gained access to it 2 years ago. Now anyone with a hardware compatible Tesla can get FSD and start using it immediately.

@@tatata1543 well, all I can say is that my model 3 with FSD version 12 pretty much drives itself 99.99999% of the time, yeah, there are some minor glitches, but they are mostly navigational, definitely nothing safety related. Or just because I'm impatient and don't want to wait for it. But with Ai, it continues rapidly learning.

@@andresd6193 It will have to get to level 5 and work 100% of the time for Robotaxi and to do that they will have to clear the technical hurdles, hand over the data(something they have avoided so far), they will then have to clear the regulatory and legal hurdles at state and federal level (and that’s just in the US, given Europe’s stricter road safety controls it will be even more difficult there). All that is going to take a significant amount of time and money, assuming it’s even possible - which is something most experts doubt. The question is where does the money come from to fund this given that the company is hardly in a good place in business terms?

For me FSD can also grow into a "minder" for drivers in case a driver makes a serious error. This can help when people are confused (not knowing an area), distracted (ex mom and child in the car), for young drivers and for the elderly. The FSD system can prevent people from driving on the wrong side of the road, running red lights, not braking for a child because slow reactions, keep the car on a safe path when a mom checks on the child behind her; even avoid a pothole or slow the car down. FSD can indeed help the entire traffic system by helping avoid accidents, incidents, unsafe situations; and even protect other road users.

So great to have you back!! Congrats on the TMIOT-Jr! Absolutely, Elon is making the correct move. My swing-for-the-fence guess, Tesla is appealing to the mass consumer with price reductions to generate regulatory approval miles. After approval , however, a robotaxi business will see a major commercial price tag due to revenue streams. Individual ride share would be a tier lower i.e. equipped with a SW but be a robotaxi when not in use. Special case; handicapped and disabled drivers could purchase a dedicated robotaxi for personal use and generate ride share revenue WITHOUT incurring a business fee. It would be a great way for pensioners to generate retirement income. Lastly, all other non-revenue generating buyers would receive the FSD discounted price because we need as many crap drivers off the road as possible. This would be very easy to implement because non-robotaxi FSD would still be Supervised and Robotaxi Mode wouldn’t be an option.

Vehicle ownership is only required to make money whereas Autonomous Taxis for everyone would also mean less pollution and give more money into the pockets of everyone.
I think given the choice there are very few people who enjoy the thought of buying and maintaining something as expensive as Transport, possibly that is the thought of Elon too.

@@sterlingarcher1962 I feel your pain. I bought 7 shares before the first split at $515/share. It soared, then retreated. I think the real issue, on the one hand, is that there is a pretty serious disconnect between what Elon Musk knows to be achievable and what the market can understand/believe. On the other, there's a big disconnect between what Elon Musk knows to be achievable (for that matter, what Tesla has made substantial PROGRESS on) and what even the most bullish analysts would ever be willing to price in.
These things take time, and the interim is excruciating. I take consolation in the fact that somebody like Ron Baron, who's a helluvah lot smarter than me, might be the biggest bull of all, and all because of his conviction regarding the CEO.
Landing rockets in tandem just before a third lands on a tiny boat at sea, and innovations like the octovalve and the alloy engineered to satisfy both high pressure injection and strength criteria help quite a bit, too. Consider everything. 48V architecture. The pace of innovation both in manufacturing and in what's being made. Think about the chargers. Think about the BESS business.
Lastly, though your other positions are up, chances are they aren't disruptive across multiple industries. Tesla is like an ETF, in fact. If a very heavy rubber band is stretched, it has way more energy in it than a thin one. Think of Tesla as the really thick rubber band slowly being stretched. We can see a little; Elon Musk can see more. Tesla makes the impossible merely late, and 'late' is only because of guestimates.
TAM for autos < TAM for BESS

Tesla should let consumers buy into ownership by putting a fleet on the streets that can be accessed by the app and driven if qualified. Or let owners share cars with designated drivers and get paid..

Tesla did a terrible job on promoting FSD. In fact, only one small change can drastically increase FSD take-rate. As long as Tesla put a "FSD" decal on the cars with FSD purchased, then lots of people will buy FSD even they might not use it very often. Just like without a "Limited Edition" decal on back of the cars, most of people won't buy a limited-edition car by paying premium. That is also the reason why Apple will introduce a new color for new generation iPhone. Lots of people have much less motivation to upgrade their phone if they cannot let other people noticed they are using the latest iPhones.

TMIO Tesla is a great service offering, with the usual proviso that this is not advice, merely suggestive reporting of interesting investment possibilities.
So the inherent suggestion by the person who bought the Shaver, liked it so much that he then bought the Company because he justified the decision by using the product first. The same applies to buying and holding Tesla Shares, at least for the cars and driving assistance combination of Software.
Is this the same mechanism for the ETF decisions?

There are already several companies selling cars for less than $25k, most of whom are Chinese. Tesla would have to compete with these, fighting for low margins. The Robotaxi is a very high margin product. It may take longer, but it will pay off in the long run.
