Would these skis be a good choice for a really short turns on groomed terrain? It would be great if you could do a review of the best three skis for short turns 🙂
Very good--the 963 is even better with a narrower waist and a shorter arc. More like a slalom race ski. That, the Atomic Redster X9, and the Rossignol Hero Elite ST are all fantastic short carvers.
Hey guys, first of all thank you for your great content. You’re the only source on the Internet that really hast tested all the skis. You already helped me buy my Allmountain Skis but now I need to upgrade my old Voelkl Racetiger SCs. I’m looking for somewhat of a multiturn ski with 70-80mm underfoot but the short turn abilities should be more important than the longer turns. I would describe myself as an upper advanced Skier. After watching/reading your videos and written reviews I came up with these skis: Atomic Q9 Blizzard Thunderbird R15 WB Dynastar 763 Rossi Hero Elite MT Ti or the React 10Ti And maybe Head eRally or Fischer Curv GT Is there a ski that you would recommend or do you have other suggestions? Thank you in advance !
Hi! I can say with certainty that the Rally and the Thunderbird were my two favorites on that list from last year. Between those, it's really a wash--they both have excellent tip to tail grip and short to medium turn prowess. I suppose I think that the Thunderbird felt a little bit more versatile while the Rally felt more on-trail exclusive, if I were to make a distinction in one way or another. Have fun! SE
Thank you for the answer. Because of the waistwidth I would’ve thought that the Rally’s perform worst on piste. So all the Rosis and the Fischer are out. Would you think that the Q9 and the 763 are for less advanced Skiers? Was also thinking about eMagnums and Firebird HRCs without the Piston Plate. If money was no object I would simply go for Laser SCs with the speed plate. But I could buy HRCs for 599€ so basically a third of the Stöcklis.
@@Reiberle The Q9 and 763 are still firmly entrenched in the advanced category as they have very high-performance ceilings. They have a lower gear as well, so they're accessible due to the short radius, but they do perform quite well. I think you'll get all the performance you could ever need out of the HRC.
Thanks for this review. Would it be more playful than my 2018 Dynastar Speed Zone 12 Ti that I love so much? Thanks!
It's just a bit wider, but overall the same character. You will find a bit more playfulness out of the new ski, but not a wholesale difference.
