I took mine out for there first run today managed to squeeze out 23 miles. A friend of mine showed me the runners knot which really helps with tieing you in. 👍🏼 the grip is absolutely phenomenal and for part of my run I was up to my ankles in water 💦 love my pair now don’t think I will buy any other shoes after these

23 miles is a great maiden voyage!
I completely agree with your comments. They are not cheap but I can’t think of a better shoe underfoot. The upper might not be for everyone but it’s not caused me any issues either.

A year later after your initial review do you have any conclusion on the shoe? I am on the verge of buying them.

You seem a lot happier with these than the Ultrafly! :)

@@global-runnerultraflys were shocking I sent mine straight back after one long run that sole not moving did absolutely nothing for me. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

I've just got a pair of these. Have about 15 miles in them but I'm actually experiencing exactly what you said in the beginning of the video - the heel seems loose unless I really cinch down the laces but them i feel a ton of pressure on top of the foot. Did you end up tweaking the lacing or anything to remove pressure or get a better lockdown?

      Thanks for your comment!
I didn’t do anything (and in fact the lacing system seems a bit awkward for the runner’s knot). I found it to be a strange feeling when I was walking but I got used to it when I was running and it hasn’t bothered me while running but I could easily see it being bothersome.
It’s a real shame because this is one of the best shoes I’ve ever run in underfoot. And the upper is fine but if they’d just sorted out that heel, it would be an amazing shoe. Even a padded heel collar may have been enough.

I had the same problem when I first got mine. I almost binned them due to the lockdown pain. I tried exta thick socks etc until I tried a simple solution. The fix is to take the laces out of the two slits on the tongue and lace as normal on top of the tongue. Having the laces on top of the togue rather than underneath at the point of the slits removes that focused pressure on the top of the foot. They've been perfect since. As for durability, I have run a hundred miler in them and the final third of the TDS and they just get better and better. I still have plenty of grip, the upper has just moulded to my footshape and the midsole has become just beautiful. I've just ordered a second pair for the Lofoten Ultra 100 at the end of May. They'll be nicely broken in by then. I'll use the new pair for the majority of the off-road sections (newer and deeper lugs) and use my existing pair for the long road sections, but the old pair will still have enough grip to get me over the final hills and ridges to the finish

Such a great shoe. If they could just fix that heel collar issue, they’d have the perfect trail shoe.

@@brianogrady9883 Appreciate the advice here. I tried pretty much every combo of lacing/insole adjustments I could but could never get a secure lockdown that also didn't cause hotspots. SUper bummer, i'm just blessed with a frustratingly stubborn left frankenfoot.
