Nit to mention Mapex didn't send stand for the first week of camp so it was all harnesses. Rookie year for me. Came home from camp that weekend looking like a crumpled piece of paper.
@Reid Sessions Of course! MANY people who have never marched drum corps before are completely capable of making top-tier corps lines. There was a bass player in this video who was 16, if I am not mistaken. There have also been people who have never marched and have made corps at the age of 21-22 (age-out age). You just have to be sure to prove to the staff and instructors that you are capable of the corps' demands, as well as being able to show that you can make a ton of progress in little time. Hope this helped!!
Well my instructor made it on the Blue Knight's tenor line in 2011 his first year. And he had no drum corp experience before that. Just high school marching. So I'm guessing it should be the similar with snares.
Lol sucks to be either really tall or really short, they get the drums to be roughly the same height so short people's drums have to come up and tall peoples usually have to go down!
Any vets of the blue knights in the comments? I just have a few questions and maybe get a few pointers... I'm interested in joining this year, hopefully tenors
that what i was saying! its weird as fuck and they must be a bitch to carry considering mapex are already crazy heavy.. now its a full drum. damn.. it doesnt even sound that different.
Is it realistic to make this corps on snare without any drum corps experience? Please don't give me the "anything is possible" speech. If this corps doesn't usually take newbies then where is a good place to start?
Mapex tenors with scoops. Scoliosis

oh yeah !

The Asian quad player marched in Blue Devils 2015
Man, their book is so good!!!
that was sick.
KFITZ!
Blue Knights looked like just another line before Mike Jackson came along
bass
That snare girl needs to join Cadets.
Its just the drum is tall the height of the actual rim is to a good playing position.
That SCV influence
Thats tasty.
They are randall may mapex brand now.
ayyy that asian tenor player ended up playing for BD.
One of the baritone players from this year is my drum major
i love mapex tenors!
Those Mapex are nice!!!!
its not easy, but high school drumline and college drumline is a good start.

girls snare drum is up to her armpits

Gunner Vowell, which is one of the snare drums, used to be my drum captain :D
He was one of our techs during my time at Louisiana Stars. He's still with them. Great guy and great teacher.
haaha jingle bells on the stick that's pretty cool

did they put scoops on the tenors?
Hardimon wanted em to project.
thats almost the right slap at the end...
Do you mean every single year Cadets snares? I do agree though. But if an entire line has high drums, I think it looks quite cool.
what is up with some of these corps who march mapex drums use yamaha harnesses?
I'm guessing to get more presence out the tenor sound without having to totally reef the heads. Not totally sure though :D
Simplesmente maravilhoso 👌🏽😵
I thought my headphones were fucked up and then I realize the tenors were using padded sticks lol
all the snares are the same height so he has a hard time cuz hes like 6'4'
I hate how center snares left hand is so tilted
The center snares left hand is angled too much. It doesn't match
that what i was saying! its weird as fuck and they must be a bitch to carry considering mapex are already crazy heavy.. now its a full drum. damn.. it doesnt even sound that different.
