This was very useful for me!
It would have been nice to have some of the commands in the description or a text file, but it wasn't too bad. For those watching, just be aware that there are some commands where it's a bit hard to tell, but it's a "1" not a lowercase "L", and a capital O and not "0".

For those hunting for the latest LTS. 22.10 isn't LTS - 22.04.02 is still the latest LTS version - as at 10th July 2023

Great videos. After i configured the http for GUI access, I still cant access the :9000. I am able to ping the graylog server, checked the DNS entry and confirmed that port 9000 is open. What could be causing me not to be able to access the web interface?

Hi Guys, i know this is far overdue but i had the same issue just now after following along with the Ubuntu install video, in the server.log file i found my error was it was looking for elasticsearch in the wrong location. So i made a quick edit to the /etc/graylog/server/server.conf file to point the elasticsearch node to my local ip the same one used in the step to prove the opensearch:9200 then a restart of the graylog service and the URL loads just fine in the browser. I hope thats of some help to someone.

Version 22.10 is not an LTS. The graphics creator for this video made a typographical error on the title slide. 22.04, 22.10 is LTS.

For the wget of opensearch it is .../releases/bundle/... and not .../bundle/releases/...

  • @variblex

This guide doesn't work when starting the opensearch I get a exitcode 1 >> exceeding timeout - extending timeout and 5 minutes it still crashes with this error

    • @variblex
      @variblex Год назад +2

So when using opensearch you have to go into graylog config and point it to opensearxh (it default looking for elasticsearxh and the comments in the config will all say elasticsearch)

There are multiple mistakes on your slides
    > Wrong Link of Opensearch
    > discovery.type: single-node NOT discovery.type: single_node
    > apt-get is deprecated
Also, why do you not explain
    > The usage of booth architectures [ arch=amd64,arm64 ]
    > The full command of the opensource Graylog as a command
    > plugins.security.disabled: true

Sounds like you might have the hashs for the password_secret and root_password_sha2 swapped. Suggestion to reconfig the 2 settings again, that should do the trick.

Graylog NEEDS to get away from MongoDB. Seriously the AVX requirement has crippled so many opportunities to install it. There isn't even an option to just bypass it in the config. You literally have to compile it from source. So. Dumb.
