Hell... I went to give my buddy a hug (known him since we were 2. We are 40) after catching up with him recently, and he fist bumped right through it and dodged me. It was hilariously awkward for a second but then his wife spoke up "He's not a hugger"... and I laughed and said "I actually know this... my bad it's been a while"... but the brief awkwardness in both directions kinda made me think about how awkward random hugging can be for some people. He sorta reflected it back to me with the fist bump, and I understood for the first time how it must feel to simply ...not be the hug Type. It has never seemed like a real thing to me until that happened. Seeing Seinfeld ...politely, and with a little Seinfeld smirk humor even... just be like "nope" ... I... get it. I don't think it was rude at all really. He acted like the Senfeld she loved, and made her laugh instead. And he simply wasn't a hugger. Sorta hard to imagine him being a hugger if you know ...his persona. He made it almost a comedic refusal....so... he was actually cool to her.

Not really. You can be a great actor on screen, and not try to pretend you're a decent human being in real life. Lot's of actors don't give a rip, and don't put on airs. Others are genuinely nice people.
Case in point. . . I was in Long Beach for a work conference back when filming for the movie "Get Shorty 2" was taking place. They were using the front of the convention center as a mock "academy awards" venue or something, and all the stars were there. I was watching the action from the front dais of the center, and happened to be standing pretty much by myself when everyone was being driven back to the scene after a break (each in their own, individual town cars, mind you), passing about 20 or so feet from where I was leaning against a railing enjoying a smoke. Uma Thurman went by first with her head down, not making eye contact with anyone outside. Granted, she very well may have been studying her script or something, so I don't mean to make her sound snobbish here. In the next car was Danny Devito (he was directing the movie, iirc). He was just staring straight ahead, again making no eye contact with the "common folk". The 3rd town car to pass by had John Travolta in the passenger seat. He was actively taking in the sites, not trying to hide or anything. As I was pretty much by myself at the railing, we made eye contact. I gave him a smile and a nod of the head. He smiled and nodded back. I thought that was pretty cool of him. It's the little gestures things like that that separate the a-holes from the good guys.

I worked at a recording studio in Times Square back in 2014 where Jimmy Fallon came through. Of all the celebrities I met at that job as an assistant, he was the only one who shook my hand, and had a genuine, present conversation with me. Most would treat you like a nobody, especially at my position there. His security guard said of all the celebrities he had worked for, Jimmy was the kindest. They even bought me dinner when they ordered food. I also got a personal photo with Jimmy which NEVER happened in that setting, but he offered. My personal experience with him was not like this video, but perhaps he changed after, or I met him on a good day, or the rumours aren’t true 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, I take all this crap with a grain of salt. Celebrities are human, and they're going through crazy crap most of us CAN'T relate to. That doesn't mean they have a free pass to do whatever, but it does make things like having a blown up ego make some sense. One hopes they become reacquainted with humility one day, but I'm not going to assume someone's a POS because of anonymous internet rumors and a couple unflattering moments on camera. Besides, being an a-hole isn't a crime.

It's both. Fame reinforces character. If you have bad character, expect fame to magnify it. But it's also a culture where people are often hired for the wrong reasons. I work in film and TV. I've seen a lot of people get big producing jobs because they know how to go into a room and be the big swinging ____. That such qualities are valued says something about the culture of the industry and the executives making decisions. They're all weaklings who respond favorably to narcissists, go along with bad behavior and think the most macho s___head is somehow the alpha in the room. The best producers I know are good communicators who care about their people. Too often it's the other kind who gets hired. The same is true with hosts. Trevor Noah could have easily been featured in this video. A notoriously abusive, miserable jerk who also happens to be completely talentless. Prior to The Daily Show he was as a reactionary, right wing comedian in South Africa. He was anti Jewish, anti women, mocked Aboriginal women as ugly and took the side of the SA government when they machine gunned protesting farmers. He completely reinvented himself as a "nice guy" and a "progressive" when he came to the States. All an act, but it has made him very rich.

I have to side with Jerry on brushing off Ke$ha. She rudely interrupted his interview. She tried to touch him and hug him, thinking her "fame" would allow her to do that. Jerry, as a married man, said no thanks many times. He has the right to not interact with a rude, handsy chick who he probably didn't even know. He respected his marriage by not getting physical with another woman and he respected himself by saying no. Everyone has the right to say no if they don't want a physical interaction with another person. He didn't have to explain himself. If the gender roles were reversed, we all would have been outraged at a guy trying to force himself on a famous woman. And I'm on the fence about the Larry King interview. For the most part, it looked like he reverted to his on screen persona with all the faux outrage of the character, especially when he said, "do you know who I am?" I just saw that as him being Seinfeld from the TV show.

Dear Tesla, Devils Advocate here. Who says entertainers must be nice? Where is that written? There are a lot of absolutely despicable individuals on the front page every single day. And people worship those "cringe" cruds. To be fair, Ellen did take some risks back in her earlier career, and as a result changed history. She's made many people since then laugh. Why was her show so well-rated if they all found her evil, as you claim. There is evil on the front page and many many many Americans put on their rosey glasses every day, and do Hitler high kicks. And you think Ellen is a bad person? Go finish High School.
      .

Seinfeld doesn't have a bad reputation; Kesha's incident was a demonstration of principles from someone who identifies as an individual first and a celebrity second. Unlike many stars who believe they owe hugs and autographs to everyone just because other celebrities do it, it doesn't mean it's wrong to say 'no.' He wasn't even rude in refusing; it was uncomfortable, but she made it uncomfortable by living in her 'entitlement' bubble.
Also just because he doesn't use profanity in his sets doesn't mean he's a clean comedian; my understanding is that he avoids profanity because he feels it's forced for impact and prefers to generate laughs with the quality of his jokes ,not all of them are good, but all his sets are observations of stupid or ridiculous acts of others, and he doesn't hide under a persona like Ellen. And from what I've seen up to the present day, he continues to be respected among comedians and the industry in general.

Jerry is right. You are wrong Moon. The idea that Larry King would play dumb on whether his guest’s (the star of the biggest show on television) show was canceled due to his choice is ridiculous. Jerry later tried to play it off as a joke to save face for Larry King as someone who’s supposed to be one of the best interviewers of our time who seemed to know nothing about his guest. And… Keisha trying to surprise hug him on the red carpet just shows her lack of tact and couth and how green she was in her celebrity. Gatecrashers and nutcases show up on the red carpet all of the time. That was Jerry having no idea who she was and trying to be polite, not snubbing her.

I certainly found Seinfeld's rant against Larry King to be abhorrent, but I did kind of understand his response to Kesha. If I was answering questions in an interview and someone I didn't personally know came that close and asked for a hug, I'd be weirded out too. She did interrupt his interview and she did get very close all of a sudden, I don't think if I was in that position I'd act any different, even if I wanted to be open and friendly to someone was so warm to me as Kesha was to Seinfeld there, I'd be too startled and I'd feel ambushed...

I would gag thinking about him and his long running show using people as circus exhibits.
