Saw The Bangles on American bandstand in 1986 when I was 10 years old. When Hoffs looked into the camera with those doe eyes and flashed that megawatt smile ... puberty arrived early.

Wow! Brings back so many memories from (or is it of 😉) the '80's. Like when The Bangles came to Semana Alegre in San Antonio and Susanna (playing Walk Like an Egyptian) happened to look down from the stage and into the audience. And with that ever sparkling, naughtyesque, trademark look in her eyes, I swear, for a fleeting moment, we made eye contact! And from that day on, for the past 30 years, I have told that story (and that I was going to marry Susanna Hoffs!). Lol. And, yes, I've even told my wife. And she laughs. 😂 Thanks for the memories Susanna. You still rock!
She aged well because she probably wasn't strung out on Booz and Drugs.
Diet & exercise
It also helps that she's been a vegetarian for much of her life but genetics is very important too. I inherited good genes, didn't drink or do drugs and in my early sixties still have a full head of hair and no facial lines/creases.

OMG, I had such a crush on her back in the day. I was in the Army in the 80s (26 year Veteran) and when we party, we would be playing Van Halen, Ozzy, Motley Crue , Scorpions , drinking and raising hell. The only non hard rock/metal song you could get away with was Eternal Flame. Watching a bunch of hard ass drunk soldiers, with their Arms around each other, singing their hearts out to that song was priceless. Come to think of it , I think all of them had a crush on Susanna.

+Sporkmaker5150 Yes, some people are known for their falsetto singing. A notorious example would be the Bee Gees in their hit "Staying Alive". As far as I know, though, "Eternal Flame" was never meant to be sang in falsetto, so her use of it is just a different approach to the song, but also a proof of her declining voice range. Aging sucks :C
Not only did she falsetto (flip over into head voice) the song is in a much lower key than normal. I guess that's what happens to your voice as you age.
aging lungs, everyone suffers a decline in lung function as they age. Like everything, different people progress (or decline) at different rates.

I used to room with a member of the Bangles and I met Sues mom once too. Susanna was always a great talent.
Too bad her mother Tamar put her in that awful "beach blanket bingo"-type movie in 1989, that effectively ended whatever film career she might have had. And she didn't even sing in the film (guess her mom never watched any Elvis movies; she might have learned something about using natural gifts to full advantage…) .
Susanna, s " Beavh Blanket" type movie was cslled"The All-Nighter",and it came out in 1987, not 1989, my frienf.It co-starred Joan Cusack,and Michael Ontkean, who was a star on the 70,s ABC TV show"The Rookies".
It also cp-starred Michelle Phiwffer's younger sister Deedee Phieffer, who played the part of Val. And John Turleski, who played played the part of C.J. Joan played the part of Gina, & Susanna played the part of Mollie. Can't remember the name of the guy who played the part of "Killer". But those were the main characters in the movue. Mollie, Gina, & Val,; along wirh their surfer pals "Killer" & C.J.
