Video clips like this convince me that ALW and the Really Useful Group need to figure out a way to do a direct to video of Starlight the way they did Cats back in 1998. Between my own copies in VHS and DVD, and the purchase of several copies as gifts over the years, I've purchased at least 7 copies of Cats myself, and I could easily see myself doing that with Starlight as well if it becomes available.
Yeah I feel like they could milk the cow pritty much if they film the show in a proper cinematic way. Especially when people from around the world simply don’t have the possibility to watch the show live. Thinking about it ,I don’t even know why they don’t do it. Even the recording of the show is like 10 years old I think? And this recording u can’t find on Spotify. On a financial point of view I feel like they miss out much. There was a time where I wanted to be a media guy for starlight because behind the scenes there just so so much happening and so much content could be created but it never happened. But what to do… I know people are interested in this show. Thanks for your comment
Years ago I wrote a letter to the RUG asking about a video/dvd after CATS was released and they basically said it would be impossible to film due to the skating. Well many years later thanks to You Tube that isn't an excuse no more as can easily be done. :) There is just something about this show ALW keeps holding back on and is annoying to us fans.
@@Martinuk79 nothing is impossible :D but I guess the organisation and the costs of producing a product in high quality , is just to much effort for them. Maybe it’s possible that people don’t go to watch the show because they have the dvd or whatever… But a real film based on that story would be so awesome !

@@etiennevogelproductions thats what i love about this version of the bochum production, it was chaotic but in a fun sort of way, (if thats the case) i kinda prefer this version over the revisions that the show got in 2018 (Due to the 2017 workshop) though i still like both versions in their own way.
I know not a word of German, but am thrilled by the spectacle and awe of both a general and first hand experience working on the show. It looks absolutely exhilarating, and I'm thinking of booking a ticket to Bochum to see it for myself! Thanks so much for uploading this!

Fantastic video! Huge thanks! I managed to see the show at Bochum back in 2014 and believe you were in the cast when I saw it. Twice, of course. Matinee at the edge of the upper track and evening in the front row of the middle section of the stalls. Saw the original many times in London, and went to one of the workshops to see the 2018 version being trialled. I would love an official recording of the show in Bochum, and seeing the kind of footage they could get using the POV camera you used here shows how it could really draw the viewer in! Thanks again for this awesome footage 👍

I think Andrew Lloyd Webber said that when he saw the 2013 version, it felt like he didn't write it, but to me, the revised version is even _farther_ from what Starlight Express used to be.

But what to do… they decide what they wanna do with the show 😂 I’m just happy that stunt skaters still have the opportunity to participate in this show… who knows how long this will stay. Because bringing stunt skaters to the show was the idea of Michal Fraley… now that he passed away , I’m not shure if the TRAX still get the support and backup that we stay in the show. When I started in 2009 we were involved all the time. Then year after year , especially after 2013 they cut us more and more. Now it’s so bad in opinion regarding stunt skaters…
I also liked the older version a bit better but I'm still so amazed about their performance...could go there 10 times a year 😂 if only I didn't live so far away from Bochum (in Munich) but I've been there 1,5 weeks ago ❤

@@etiennevogelproductions Das kann ich mir gut vorstellen, dass das ganze seehr wackelig war...immerhin waren 2016 die GoPros noch nicht so super und grad in der Dunkelheit wird das ganze Bild ja schlimmer, so das man weniger leicht nachträglich ne Stabilisierung drüber packen kann 😅 Auch wenn es natürlich cool wäre, wenn es mal Starlight Express gescheit gefilmt würde, ist es schon mal mega, so ein Best-Of-POV Video zu haben 👍

@@FoxofNothing yes i heared the same when i was visiting starlight in April. Basically this company bought the rights to the music and now they make a show in England. Some characters got switched from men to woman. But maybe it’s a great show I don’t know 🤷

:D bei rolling stock zum Beispiel wäre es selbstmord sich auf das Publikum zu konzentrieren 🤣 Aber bei Nummern wo die Darsteller stehen oder tanzen kann man schon die Leute sehen :) Während der Fahrt schaut man auch nicht auf die Bahn sondern eher nach vorne aber durch die Scheinwerfer kann man schon bis zu 20cm vor seine Füße gucken hahahahaha

It's one thing seeing it from the audience's side, but another to see it from your point of view actually skating around and doing verrry dangerous flips and whatnot. Did you have any experience with four wheels skating before you did this? (And yes, I'm a HUGE fan of Starlight Express -- hence my nick on youtube -- Rusty.

So I participated in a casting and then I started working there :) I did tryied quads one time and it’s super weird to me 🤣 Greetings !!

Ich würde gerne mehr zeigen aber leider gibt es nicht mehr :/ Mir geht es super ! 2021 bin ich mit meiner Partnerin nach Schweden ausgewandert und wir haben uns gut eingelebt :) Manchmal vermisse ich die Zeit beim starlight aber ich weiß das sind nur Erinnerungen und es wird eh nie wieder wie es mal war. Von daher bin ich einfach dankbar für alles und jeden den ich auf dem Weg getroffen habe :) Schaust du manchmal noch die Show ? Liebe Grüße
@@etiennevogelproductions das ist doch schön zu hören! Kannst du in Schweden denn gut skaten? Ich gehe tatsächlich so um die 1-2 Mal im Jahr in dir Show. Muss aber sagen, dass ich zum Beispiel das mittlerweile kaum noch vorhandene Orchester schon sehr schade finde - aber das wird sich wohl nicht mehr ändern. Liebe Grüße ausm Bergischen Land 😌

As a stunt skater you have to be able to do tricks before u start there. But as a singer or dancer there are different criteria’s important. For example you have to be a singer , dancer or a musical actor. You learn skating there by a professional skate coach with an intense 3 month rehearsal time. The people who work there learn German after some time but they all can sing they’re lyrics because they go over them all the time. There is a Phonetics teacher who teaches you how to pronounce the words. Greetings
Hey! Hmm , not really. Everything is timed precisely. If something happens to the mic during an act, and the act will take some more time, someone from stage department will give the actors a hand mic :) The sound people listen into the mics before every act. Let’s say electra is gonna be on stage in 2 minutes , then the sound people listen into the mic if everything is ok. If something is wrong, they will change the mic :)

Ich war letztes Jahr wieder da und echt enttäuscht. Vor der Veränderung hatte die Show einfach viel mehr Power und Action und für mich hats das ausgemacht. Grade der Auftritt von Greaseball mit der Crew war echt mega und jetzt recht langweilig

Hey ! Wenn du damit meinst das du gerne als stunt skater dort arbeiten möchtest dann kann ich dir nur so viel sagen. Du musst ein sehr guter inline skater sein . Du musst von 100 backflips, mindestens 95 stehen. Du musst körperlich fit sein und definitiv im Team arbeiten können. Ich weiß nicht wie alt du bist aber als ich dort angefangen hab war ich 19 Jahre alt. Da hab ich schon 14 Jahre geskatet. Also du brauchst mindestens 10 Jahre Skate Erfahrung um dort eine Chance zu bekommen als Stunt skater. MfG

Hej! Dieser Kommentar ist mir entgangen :) Ich musste dafür keine Schauspiel Ausbildung machen. Ich musste lediglich gut Skaten können. Unsere Rolle ist da etwas speziell was das Musical angeht. Die „schauspielerische Leistung“ kam mit der Zeit. Wir hatten viele Freiheiten zum rum blödeln:) Liebe Grüße

@@angeloo532 2009 gab es ein Casting in der Skatehalle in Wuppertal. Manuel , ich und zwei andere waren auch dabei. Wir haben dann gezeigt was wir so drauf haben. Dann wurden wir nach Bochum eingeladen und mussten dort zeigen was wir können. Und dann hatte erst ich und danach der Manuel den Vertrag angeboten bekommen. Einfach nur gut Skaten zu können reicht nicht. Du musst schon sehr gut sein. 2009 hatte ich schon über 10 jahre Erfahrung und war sehr sicher in allem was ich machte. Wenn du der Überzeugung bist das du das auch kannst dann Versuch es mal:) hin und wieder sucht das Musical ja neue Leute. Liebe Grüße

Hey! Hmm , not really. Everything is timed precisely. If something happens to the mic during an act, and the act will take some more time, someone from stage department will give the actors a hand mic :)
The sound people listen into the mics before every act. Let’s say electra is gonna be on stage in 2 minutes , then the sound people listen into the mic if everything is ok. If something is wrong, they will change the mic :)

Ich war letztes Jahr wieder da und echt enttäuscht. Vor der Veränderung hatte die Show einfach viel mehr Power und Action und für mich hats das ausgemacht. Grade der Auftritt von Greaseball mit der Crew war echt mega und jetzt recht langweilig

Das sieht geil aus! Mein Traum Job ist auch ein hintergrund Stunt-Man in Starlight Express zu sein! Hast du tips für mich? Ich übe gerade noch und ich glaube das ich richtig gut sein könnte!
Hey ! Wenn du damit meinst das du gerne als stunt skater dort arbeiten möchtest dann kann ich dir nur so viel sagen.
Du musst ein sehr guter inline skater sein . Du musst von 100 backflips, mindestens 95 stehen.
Du musst körperlich fit sein und definitiv im Team arbeiten können.
Ich weiß nicht wie alt du bist aber als ich dort angefangen hab war ich 19 Jahre alt. Da hab ich schon 14 Jahre geskatet.
Also du brauchst mindestens 10 Jahre Skate Erfahrung um dort eine Chance zu bekommen als Stunt skater.

Ich musste dafür keine Schauspiel Ausbildung machen. Ich musste lediglich gut Skaten können. Unsere Rolle ist da etwas speziell was das Musical angeht. Die „schauspielerische Leistung“ kam mit der Zeit. Wir hatten viele Freiheiten zum rum blödeln:)

@@angeloo532 2009 gab es ein Casting in der Skatehalle in Wuppertal. Manuel , ich und zwei andere waren auch dabei. Wir haben dann gezeigt was wir so drauf haben. Dann wurden wir nach Bochum eingeladen und mussten dort zeigen was wir können. Und dann hatte erst ich und danach der Manuel den Vertrag angeboten bekommen.
Einfach nur gut Skaten zu können reicht nicht. Du musst schon sehr gut sein. 2009 hatte ich schon über 10 jahre Erfahrung und war sehr sicher in allem was ich machte.
Wenn du der Überzeugung bist das du das auch kannst dann Versuch es mal:) hin und wieder sucht das Musical ja neue Leute.

Nach 11 Jahren war es Zeit für Veränderungen.
Jetzt lebe ich mit meiner Partnerin in Schweden und wir haben ein besseres Leben als in Deutschland :)
