    It is tough to explain in a limited space. I'll try to make it extremely brief. Systema uses sparring or drills at varying speeds and intensities SORT OF like katas in karate. You find out how the body works, both yours and your opponents. You find out what works best for you. Systema is much more than this but maybe this answers what you find as unbelievable. This clip is a mixture of many things, drills, instruction, scenarios,etc the video is an overview. 4:57 is a full speed attack/defense

    Systema has really improved my understanding of natural, human movement and breathing. The videos are an adjunct to proper, qualified instruction.

    I studied this for a year. Very brutal stuff. We had to start out with fingertips, not punches in sparring. But, we eventually went onto slaps, wristlocks, and finally hard punches. It's truly a unique system. Every big movement is a mental fake-out, every little movement does the most damage. Notice where Vladimir's hitting when he does little moves. It's the ultimate martial art of deception.

    As far as what I've read and there is probably more to this is developing skills through exploration, breathing, relaxation and natural body position this aids in tension and stress management resulting in increase your ability to perform.

    a lot of what you see in these videos is practice . its done slowly to teach you how to get over fear of getting hit and to develop confidence to do the movements . also the slow speed helps opponent keep from getting hurt . if you want to know what the training feels like go to a seminar and see for yourself . you will then see these videos from a very different perspective =)

    I tried it for about 2 years and no-one fakes it in class, i.e. they don't just fall down, it really works. Systema looks non-flashy at times because it's efficient and functional.
    I've always thought that Systema is rubbish to watch, but amazing to experience directly. Hence why it picks up a lot of criticism on youtube.

    Really fascinating technique here. The most damaging strikes with the hands don't always have to be from a fist. A couple well-braced fingers can to a lot in the right spot. Kind of reminds me of some Mantis Kung Fu strikes.

    The solar plexus punching is also used for the person receiving it to learn to deal with pain and taking a hit. Just thought I might need to help explain why the guy getting punched is just seems to be standing there doing nothing.

  • @SniperKingz
    @SniperKingz 13 лет назад

    From my different takes on several martial arts, Systema has to be the most effective in my opinion hands down. The movement focuses on a lot of relaxation and smooth breathing that really makes your attacks more unexpected and stronger. On the videos it may look fake, but I swear to you right now people who say it is fake. Go to a class, and your opinion will change I promise you it will.

    Excellent vid, thanks for sharing! It looks very effective. Most of the demo punches to the chest are focused on the diaphragm. Hit that sweet spot and it will knock the wind out of the attacker. I also noticed many hits to the temples in the head...a very sensitive spot if hit with enough force. A few clips showed stabs to the throat below the adam's apple which is equally effective. No matter how fat or muscular the attacker is, there isn't much fat/muscle surrounding those areas for defense.

    Everything you do you do in a relaxed state when someone applies a force you let it go through you and use their force against them , its mostly physics. For example say you are in a headlock their force is pushing you down so you follow it putting them off balance picking a control and immobolising your opponent. Theres alot more to it , its pretty good.

  • @recshooter
    @recshooter  16 лет назад +1

    None taken. First let me say I am no systema expert. Some of the clips are instructing type demos, but in many the attacker (as far as I know) is free to do whatever he wants. At 4:57 is a prison guard who wanted to do a real knife attack that he had seen used in prison.
    If you watch carefully, the boxer is aiming many of the shots at the solar plexus. At 3:57 he even measures up the shot first to make sure he hits it. The boxer's punch just doesn't have the same effect

    @kern0099 Everyone in this video and many systema instructors have an open door policy on challenges.
    It is not just about pressure points, it is about breaking the opponents structure. You certainly are NOT required to care anything about, "the amazing legacy of the Russian Warrior and his triumphant orthodox destiny" to train.

  • @CombatSystemaNorway
    @CombatSystemaNorway 15 лет назад

    I second that, recshooter! It's very obvious when you look at our ground movement. That's taken from the old cossack style, and a lot of the figure-eight stuff that we do is also recognizable from the old styles of Russia. But I wish people would stop comparing Systema with Aikido. They got fixed set of rules and techniques while we don't.

    Yes, it's just that it would be best if you have another person to train with, you can find them on systema official website (search under training partners by location or post ad on craiglist).
    The good thing about systema is that you dont hyave to memorize any moves-you make your own systema as you go, you just learn the areas where to hi -ballance points -and then you train to be quicker in hiting them and avoiding oponent's hits and relaxed breathing.

    To those of you who wonders about the Systema punching principle. The theory is that an average adult male arm weighs about 7 kilos - approx. the same as a standard sledgehammer. Imagine if you got hit in the chest or gut by a sledgehammer. But most people are not able (without the proper training) to relax their arm enough so it becomes "heavy". We are too tense so we limit ourselves with tension. That's also why we focus on breathing an to stay calm in Systema.

    Good Point, but it also has to do with (believe or not) the body's natural defense to protect itself.
    I remember I saw this exhibit where some guys were given the chance to take down a 'Big Guy' w/ no luck. Then they put a book under one of the B. Guy's foot. Now his spine was misaligned & it was sending a message to the brain that spine was vulnerable. The brain doesn't want to compromise the spine- SO despite Big Guy's best efforts to resist- everyone was able to take him down easily.

  • @mrblablablabla
    @mrblablablabla 14 лет назад

    Also, systema deals with a different reality of fighting than most martial arts. In systema (at least, the way I train) we train for situations in which somebody attacks you on the street (or in other situations apart from the dojo). This means that your attacker most likely will not move around a lot, but will come straight at you, because of his aggression.
