Your videos have totally exposed the fact I've been riding decks the wrong direction since I was about 10 years old. Always thought the big part was the tail and nobody has ever called me out on it haha. Thanks for the informative videos, man! 💪
Same! I was skating from middle school through college. Always thought the longer end was the tail. Just got into skating again after 7 years off and found this out thanks to youtube lol
The shape is a lot like a Keenan Milton Chocolate deck I had way back when. Obscenely huge nose, modest tail. My friend had bought it in the US but when he came back he didn't like it. I'd been skating maybe a year or so and would still have good and less good ollie days. But for some reason, on this deck I could pretty much ollie as high as I wanted every time with little effort. Soon, I was cruising around my neighbourhood, ollieing over garbage cans and hitting curb cuts. My skating progressed a ton in the time I had that board, but when it broke, the next Keenan Milton model had a different, more conventional shape. Worst of all, I could no longer ollie crotch-high at will and actually had to relearn a lot of tricks. It's always bugged me out that there was this one perfect shape for me, but that it was just this one-off model that never came back.
Email Chocolate or dm some of the flow riders on Instagram. Some dudes like talking about this shit. Might actually get to talk to a dude who knows a dude that actually made the shape
@@culturestreetfilms4704 yeah, it's weird how the feel of a board can vary, even when it's the exact same model, as happened to me recently with an Enjoi board. I know they use a Chinese woodshop but I liked the snappy, responsive, not too heavy or stiff out the box feel, so I immediately ordered the same model online. Well, this one felt quite a bit different, stiffer, harder (for me anyway) to get a good pop on. I know people do 3 flips on a 2 by 4 in Timbs, so I'm not one to blame the hardware for my shitty skating. But given the amount of precision involved in skating, the variety in boards can be maddening

I just got a "Numbers" deck, which is Guy Mariano and Eric Koston's new company. The shape of the Guy model I got is crazy. Really blunt, wide nose and tail with a relatively short overall length and lots of concave. The thing LOVES tres.
I just got a HOCKEY 8.5 and can't believe I was so stuck on dlx made boards for the past 12yrs. Loving this FA concave and overall dimensions, it's so different than my Anti Hero and or Toy Machine decks I thought I loved so much tbh..
I am three weeks into my FA. Really stuggling with it. The pop is different, sounds different as well. I do have the embossed one. My 180s are better but everything else seems to be harder for me. I feel like i have less room for error with he steep nose and tail. It is bolts of slam. But going to keep at it.
I'm currently riding an FA deck and it's one of the best shapes I've ever ridden for sure. Also there haven't been any pressure cracks in it yet which is surprising for me, since my old Welcome, Deathwish, Creature, etc. would've all had pressure cracks in them at this point
I used to like FA and Hockey because of the squared off nose and tail and the steepness of the nose. I liked how the sides of the board remained straighter past the wheels, leading up to a more square nose. It was better for my nollies I thought. However I lost any and all interest I may have had in either brand when they stopped using PS Stix as their manufacturer.

Ben, thanks for the review. But you need to get a minimal distortion lens for filming shapes of such nuanced differences. I used to be a photographer and I only used one or two lenses to capture architecture when the angles and perspectives mattered the most. You usually use a wide-angle for filming, which can give dramatic effect, but for re-producing shapes like your channel is so centric in doing you need a 50mm or a 85mm lens with no zoom feature. I stress the *no zoom*, because the zoom lenses introduce lots of weird distortion (shape distortion), where a normal non-zoom lens keeps it at a minimum. If you use a Canon, the canon 50mm f1.8 is ok. For nikon, their equivalent or a Zigma for any brand. The videos you put out are too high end in content to not do this for the preciseness of the capturing of angles and shapes. Love the videos.
Not sure if you've skated a Numbers Edition, but I had a Miles Silvas recently and it had a shape exactly like this one based on your description. It was so hard getting used to but really liked it after a week or so.
