  • Riding on Narendra Modi’s space ambitions and the government’s $1.5 billion space budget, India has opened the doors for its space startups to attempt their first orbital launch later this year. That impending milestone may serve the prime minister at the voting booth, but do the country's private space players have a real shot at catching up to the likes of SpaceX? Menaka Doshi speaks with Skyroot Aerospace to find out.

These companies have benefited from technology transferred from NASA and military applications to the civilian market. Clearly, India does not have such a foundation.

    1) Reusable Rockets
    2) methane as fuel to reduce cost.
Well Spacex received appreciation from NASA for it's effort and now NASA's supplies are transported to ISS through Spacex rockets.
    If India needs a Spacex,
It should focus on what the space sector is lacking these days. It could be further lowering it's cost or a breakthrough!.

One thing for sure tho, our govt(regardless of who's in power) or the best known capitalists would only support such an idea if it comes from top students like IITians (most of whom leave this place in blind pursuit of CPA-like packages) Really sad that others are often looked down upon... However there's hope since one of the chief scientists (P Verumuthuvel) of chdyn-3 project was not a Btech graduate from any IIT as such, and this being another such case comprising a non-IITian founder... UNICEF 2014 report on sanitation said that |ndia has the largest population of people, around 597 million, practicing open defecation. 🤭. Having a hard time coping, PM Modi of |ndia launched the |ndian national toilet program, "Swachh Bharat toilet Mission", on year 2014 with the goal of ending open defecation over a period of 5 years by attempting to make 110 million toilets for 600 million |ndians. 110 million toilets do not magically appear. You need time to make. Modi in early October 2019, announced to a crowd in Ahmedabad city that |ndia is now free of open defecation with 110 million toilets built in five years and 600 million people gaining access to them. From October 2019 to March 2024, is only 3 months + 36 months + 3 months = 42 months, which is only about 3.5 years ago. |ndia has the largest population of people, around 597 million, practicing open defecation UNTIL they have toilets, which is merely 3.5 years ago. |ndia is the #1 open toilet and #1 open defecation country. Fact.
