- Riding on Narendra Modi’s space ambitions and the government’s $1.5 billion space budget, India has opened the doors for its space startups to attempt their first orbital launch later this year. That impending milestone may serve the prime minister at the voting booth, but do the country's private space players have a real shot at catching up to the likes of SpaceX? Menaka Doshi speaks with Skyroot Aerospace to find out.

Many people misunderstand a concept: companies like SpaceX, Microsoft, and Apple owe their success to the accumulation of American industrial technology over the past century. These companies have benefited from technology transferred from NASA and military applications to the civilian market. Clearly, India does not have such a foundation.
What? Okey then, I thought India been to Mars, Moon's south pole in 1st attempt.
I was also wrong that India defeated Pakistan multiple no. of times.
Thanks for clarification, India truly doesn't have tech.??

Saris in Space love it!!

Spacex was indeed good, they pushes the technology forward for lowering the cost per launch :-
1) Reusable Rockets
2) methane as fuel to reduce cost.
Well Spacex received appreciation from NASA for it's effort and now NASA's supplies are transported to ISS through Spacex rockets.
If India needs a Spacex,
It should focus on what the space sector is lacking these days. It could be further lowering it's cost or a breakthrough!.

Indian government should have allowed private investments long ago. India has so many engineers who have made immense contributions around the world. I'm sure they are very capable of playing significant role in the dpace race.

India has a looong way to go. The US helped made the international space station, the largest space station ever, nasa landed on a comet and redirected its path, nasa flew a drone on mars and has made many successful landing there, NASA landed a man on then moon, and helped start off the next space race thanks to its innovative idea of helping commercial space companies, oh and it helped spacex achieve reusable rockets which every country in earth is trying to copy .
We will.
In india gov has tighter control over space field with so many laws that restrict private companies from freely exploring space industry
Now things have changed our govt is encouraging private players to come forward and do best and supporting with various funds
The thought of having an Indian startup that can rival SpaceX or Blue Origin makes me laugh
U will cry when u hear about there are startups in India who are building more heavier reusable rockets than spacex☠️

Indian people adapt to things very quick. In a matter of years, India became one of the most digitalized countries. In a matter of years we made the most roads. If we Indian people start encouraging businesses and startups around us, who knows we might become the top GDP country too.
Remember we have the most man power on earth. America brings people to their country to work for them. We have it already. Look how advanced Is China.
The problem with a large population is that you have to take care of all of them , and when the population falls which is going to happen, then you have to take care of all those elders which even China is having a problem with .

The biggest barrier to India’s growth is LANGUAGE. people from everywhere in the country speak different languages yet all of them have to study in a foreign language ( ENGLISH ). It is said that when you do something in your native language you are atleast 3 times more productive and creative. IT IS ALSO SOMETHING INDIA MUST FOCUS ON.. INDIA HAS EXTREMELY LARGE UNEXPLORED POTENTIAL.
What you say makes a lot of sense.
You have to use and impose a "lingua franca" in such cases, because no one will give up their language for one of another ethnic-geographical group.
Either India focuses on English or it uses a neutral artificifial language, a kind of Esperanto.
That foreign language is now Indian. English is part of India now.
@@arjunraj823
It's not Indian, it is and will remain a colonial language
Ironically, those who oppose Hindi, speak poor English
India could have adopted Sanskrit as one national language and teach two other languages at school
@@varoonnone7159 Hindi is alien to many Indians than English.
@@varoonnone7159 In part you are right. BUT keep in mind that it is a huge advantage to be bilingual English: it practically opens the doors of the world to you. Look at the Scandinavian countries, they are practically bilingual continental language and English and I can migrate and/or interact with the whole world easily.
By now, English has established itself as a lingua franca. There is little that can be done. Or as I said above, we all need to get around a table and agree to use a neutral language like (I mention this one because it is the most famous) Esperanto.
